iOS 10.1 Beta 2 What's New

Apple Releases iOS 10.1 Beta 2 to Registered Developers

Today, Apple released iOS 10.1 beta 2 to registered developers, and it's now available for download over-the-air. However, there are no software updates yet for public beta testers at this time. The new build number for the developer is 14B67, which will be the latest beta on offer.

The speaker of the video has an iPhone running iOS 10.1 beta 1 and is going to go through some of the changes in detail. As you can see, there are some minor changes between the two betas, but nothing drastic is happening. The speaker first wanted to share some geekbench scores on the latest beta, which show that iOS 10.1 and beta 1 come in at 3471 and 5605 on the multi-core score. The beta 2 right below it is 3472, which is slightly above, but there are no drastic changes in terms of performance on the device when compared to these two betas.

One small change that can be found inside messages is the most talked about for this beta, and it's very minor. The speaker wants to show you some stickers that you can send, and as you can see at the bottom here on beta 1, we have those dots, which are used to scroll through all of these stickers that we have available on the new beta. We also have a slider, which is just a new feature added in this update.

The speaker noticed something interesting while checking out some other features, and he wants to see if you guys can tell the difference when he goes ahead and 3D touches on a folder. As you can see on the left here, beta 1 shows that the icons are on the left side of the text, but on beta 2, they're on the right side of the text, which is the same as beta 1, but it's just interesting to note that depending on where the icon is on the screen, so if it's on the right side of the screen, the icons show up on the right. The speaker can demonstrate this further in settings, and you'll see that one's on the right, with all the icons on the right, and another's on the left, with all the icons on the left.

The speaker also wants to mention that they still haven't seen Apple drop any dark mode yet, which is something that a lot of users are waiting for. Unfortunately, there is no new wallpaper available in this update, although it does come with the standard iOS 10 wallpaper, which is green, and it's something different from other OSes. The speaker thinks that it would have given the OS a fresher look, but Apple didn't add much to it this time around.

In conclusion, the speaker has shared some minor changes in the new iOS 10.1 beta 2 update, including a slider feature for sending stickers and an interesting change when 3D touching on folders. However, there is no dark mode or new wallpaper available yet. If the speaker discovers any additional changes, they will make sure to update you guys with a follow-up video.
