The OtterBox Defender Series Case Review: A Comprehensive Look at its Soft and Rugged Design
As I picked up the OtterBox Defender Series case, I couldn't help but notice how soft it felt. It's really a very soft material, almost to the point where I think it might not attract as much lint as some of the other cases I've seen. But, being cautious, I decided to test its durability by giving it a bit of a tug. To my surprise, it didn't rip or tear in any way. Instead, it seemed to flex and bend slightly, like a rubbery material should.
The case's design is quite unique, with a soft and flexible silicone exterior that wraps around the phone's body. The edges are reinforced with a sort of "backbone" that gives the case its signature shape. When I pulled the case over the bottom edge of my phone, it fit snugly in place, without any issues or gaps. The only notable difference between this case and the Defender Series on my other phone is the lack of a button on the bottom.
One thing that struck me about the OtterBox case was its clever design features. For example, the camera hole is recessed slightly to prevent accidental presses, while the proximity sensor switch is left open at the top, making it easy to tap or swipe when needed. The buttons, including the rocker switches, are also positioned in a way that makes them easy to access and use.
In terms of durability, I was pleased to see that the case's soft material still managed to provide adequate protection from scratches and scuffs. When I ran my fingers over the surface, it felt like it would absorb any impact or bump without causing damage. The case is also surprisingly resistant to stretching, given its soft design.
One area where the OtterBox Defender Series falls short is in terms of port coverage. Unlike some other cases that are designed to cover all ports and openings, this one leaves the charging port completely exposed. However, I found that this wasn't a significant issue for me, as I usually don't need to plug my phone into a dock or charger anyway.
Overall, I'm impressed with the OtterBox Defender Series case. Its unique design, soft material, and clever features make it a great choice for those looking for a rugged yet protective case that won't compromise on style. Whether you're an iPhone, BlackBerry, or iPod user, there's sure to be a version of this case available to suit your needs.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi this is aaron with zollotech uh today i have the otterbox impact series for the iphone 3g i thought we'd take a look at this we'll do a uh we're gonna have a full written review uh you should see it on zolotek we're also gonna have a promo code which i'll run along here later on so here's the impact series i showed you this during the actual unboxing we did of the otterbox package that they sent us this is basically a durable silicone with impact absorbing features provides open access to all functions of the device and it says coring on the inside corners adds extra strength and protection to the skin so i've been using just this slip pouch this is a cheap slip pouch i have it in here just for easy access when i'm doing these reviews so we'll take this out of here we have the microfiber cloth and i don't know if this comes with a screen protector but we'll check that out so let's take a look so you can see it's white on the back they have black with a white in there i thought we do i got a white case with black so let's see i have a piece of tape here okay so uh a couple pieces of tape to hold this see if we can get this i don't have a knife right on me so there we go that's all it took is one side so here's the case itself nothing behind here nothing in there so let's set that over here and that's our old case so let's see if we have anything in here this is a really soft silicone so let's see what this is slide it out of here okay so this is just the silicone and this is just a piece of paper you can even have a little outer box icon you know kind of neat no screen protector but you probably already have one of those or in fact myself i don't like to use one it affects the sensitivity of one except for the uh a few of the other otterbox one i actually haven't had an issue with i've been using it for a while the defender series no problem with the touchscreen also i haven't had any issues i know some others have but with the multi-hard case plus but with this one i don't have an issue so there weren't really any instructions it's pretty self-explanatory so let's see slide that in there like that this is really soft i would imagine it's going to collect some lint but i'm not really sure we'll have to test that out and i'll let you know in the the written review you'll see on the page too this has coring around the the corners so it's a little bit you see how you have like a little bit of a backbone there and already that looks pretty sweet uh with the black showing through so let's see so this looks like it's gonna stretch around there so let's pull it over the bottom there we go so in here the other otterbox defender series actually has a little bit of a button here so let's see i didn't i didn't look so that's flat right in there so no problem though it feels like it's right on the button uh these let's see if we have these over right over the top you can see the vibrate silent switch you have the apple logo now there's no protection here but you throw this on the table like that you don't need it it's not going to touch anything you can already see maybe that there's some scratches on that but you know this is everyday use it's a phone so it's going to get a little bit of wear and tear unfortunately i do have a scratch on the screen and that wasn't from not using a screen protector in fact i took the screen protector right off when that happened so it doesn't seem to want to fit around here let me take a look at that this stuff is tough you can just i mean you can just pull on it it's not going to rip or anything let me clean that up a little bit there we go so here is the impact case now like i said this is probably the softest silicone case i've ever i've ever felt it's really a very soft material it makes me think maybe it won't attract as much lint i bet these will but it's hard to say and and i'll let you know in the other review you can see down here there are your port is completely open but if you set it this way you're not going to have anything hit the table because you've got a recess here it's recessed in a little bit see if you can see that you can see your speakers your port not sure how well it will dock just because of these if you're using a regular dock but being that it's a silicone case it's fairly easy to take out of the case so here you have oh i don't have that on there right there we go okay so you can see it's there's your camera right here you've got your your uh earphone earpiece and this is left open just look on the defender series this area is left open for the proximity sensor so when it hits your face when you go to make a call it doesn't allow you to touch the screen so in here you can get your finger in here seems like pretty easy you know i don't have long nails i can just get in there and flip that these buttons these rocker switch buttons are right on the button the fit's pretty good you can see it's bowed a little bit right here that's just the fit a little bit um i don't think it actually felt like it stretched a little bit on here like right in this that says there's coring now it's not really rigid so i don't know if it's just an extra layer of silicone because you can see it's raised not really sure but this certainly uh this looks sweet i think with the black showing through kind of enhances the look to it a pretty simple case you know basic protection lay on the table you're not going to hit your screen because again this is raised you know no big deal there and i would imagine this would certainly protect it from a fall i'm not going to throw it down or anything but uh this this back is pretty strong uh you can tell it's got a little bit of a rubbery give to it so seems like a decent case like i said i just opened it i'll use it for a couple days and when this video is up i'll there also be a full full review on zollotech.com on the main page and under the reviews section with some extra photos and that sort of thing the other thing though is there's going to be a promo code for otterbox it's good for a week it's good for 10 off so down here there's the promo code and uh that'll get you 10 off at otterbox.com so go and check out their cases they have things for iphones blackberries a lot of different products ipods definitely worth checking out again
