Sony Tablet P Unboxing - The Dual Screen Tablet

The Sony Tablet P: A First Look and Unboxing

As we boot up the device, we can see that it's running Android 3.2 Honeycomb, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich. We haven't received word on whether this version of Honeycomb will be receiving an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, but it's likely a given. The device measures 3.11 inches by 7.8 inches by 1.02 inches and weighs 13.1 ounces. It features two displays, both 5.5 inches in size with a resolution of 1024x480.

The dual-core processor is powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 2, which provides a boost in performance for a tablet of this size. The device comes equipped with 1 gig of RAM and 4 gigs of internal storage, although the microSD card slot allows for expansion up to 32 gigs. A 380 milliamp hour battery should provide around 7 hours of tablet time.

The camera capabilities on the Sony Tablet P are impressive, featuring a 5-megapixel shooter on the back and a 3-megapixel camera on the front. The rear camera is positioned in the center of the device, which may cause some issues with scrolling or typing. However, it's worth noting that this gap doesn't seem to affect performance too much.

On the left side of the device, there isn't much to see except for the power button, where the charging cable will be inserted when you want to sync your tablet. The micro USB port is located underneath a sliding door, which can be tricky to open. Above and below this door are the volume rockers and directional buttons.

The back of the device features Sony's PlayStation certification, which may appeal to gamers. However, it also comes with AT&T branding, suggesting that the device will be tied to their network. The top of the tablet is made of plastic, while the bottom has a metallic feel to it.

To test the performance of the device's display, we'll open up an app and scroll through some content. Watch as the messaging icon moves smoothly across the screen, ignoring the gap in the center. While this may not be noticeable in all situations, such as reading text-heavy websites, it's still worth mentioning. The device does have a PlayStation-certified aspect to it, which could make it fun for gaming.

In terms of pre-installed apps, we've got the default AT&T On browser, Square, Crash Bandicoot, and Music Unlimited. While this may seem like a lot of bloatware, Sony has included some free apps that are actually useful. The Free app selection is a welcome change from other tablets on the market.

Overall, the Sony Tablet P is an interesting device with a unique design. Its performance and camera capabilities are certainly worth considering, especially for those looking for a tablet with PlayStation certification. However, it's still important to weigh this against the crowded tablet market and consider whether it's worth your hard-earned cash. Leave your comments below and let us know what you think of the Sony Tablet P.

CU there's a lot crammed into this all right so this will boot up and let me tell you what the sabl tablet P the sablet C is and does um okay so we are looking at Android 3.2 honeycomb so Ice Cream Sandwich World honeycomb tablet uh we haven't heard weather not ice cream sandwich will be coming to this uh presumably though it will be so close I'm not going to close it while it's booting up your measurements are 3.11 in by 7.8 in by 1.02 in and open as we looking at it right now 6.22 in by 7.08 in by .54 in you can see that right there uh it weighs 13.1 o so it's made of two displays and they're both 5.5 in displays with resolution of 1024x 480 and of course well there two of them battery as I mentioned is 380 milliamp hours so going to give you about 7 hours of tablety time being powered by nvidia's Tegra 2 dual core processor so that's one gz on each Core 1 gig of RAM 4 gigs of internal storage but obviously expandable of micro SD in this case we had two gigs in there so six total cameras it has cameras we are looking at a 3 megapixel shooter on the front and on the back is where the action happens that's where the 5 megapixel shooter is going to live it's like the mullet you can see what that looks like as I sort of move up so watch that messaging icon right there as I scroll up and you can see it sort of just ignores that whole Gap and jumps right over it uh you feel it as your finger goes over it but it's not that bad uh we'll see how it goes though when I'm reading a lot of websites reading a lot of text that might be one instance where you certainly notice it and again that sort of PlayStation certified aspect might be kind of fun uh for gaming certainly imagine using this as an e-reader turn it sideways and you can go ahead and read like you with a
