iTunes 10 Overview

**iTunes 10 Review: A Mixed Bag**

As I sit here with iTunes 10, I can't help but feel that it's only marginally improved from its previous iteration. The UI is still very similar to what we saw in iTunes 9, and while there are some minor tweaks here and there, I'd say the overall design is about 93% the same. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as the current layout works well, but it's hard to get excited about changes that don't feel revolutionary.

**New Features: A Hybrid View**

One of the new features in iTunes 10 is a hybrid view that allows you to see album artwork. As you can see here, this view looks much better than the previous one, where individual images would load slowly. Now, you can see album artwork and more without having to wait for each image to load individually. This is a small but welcome change.

**Movies and Apps: A Mixed Bag**

iTunes also gets an update in the movies section, with apps like Netflix and Amazon getting integration with iTunes. One thing that's notable here is that iTunes 10 finally works properly as expected. In previous versions, you'd have to wait for each individual image to load before being able to access the content. Now, it's much snappier and easier to navigate.

**Ping: A Social Media Feature**

One of the new features in iTunes 10 is Ping, which is a social media feature similar to Facebook. As I said, it's very similar to a focus-down version of Facebook, but with some key differences. When you create your profile, you can tell a little bit about yourself and follow other users. There aren't many features here yet, but it's an interesting start.

**Ping: A Limitation**

One thing that's worth mentioning about Ping is that it's still not very exciting. The feature is still quite limited, and there isn't much to do beyond following people and posting comments. It would be nice if they had a tutorial or some kind of guide to help explain what the feature can do.

**Ping: A Limitation (Continued)**

Another thing that's holding Ping back is its lack of features. While you can post comments, there isn't much else you can do. There aren't many other users on Ping yet, either, which makes it feel a bit sparse and underwhelming. It would be nice if they could add more features or content to make the experience more engaging.

**Conclusion: A Minor Update**

Overall, I'd say that iTunes 10 is a minor update with some small but welcome changes. The UI is still pretty similar to previous versions, but there are some nice tweaks here and there. The new hybrid view in the music section is a big improvement, and the apps integration is nice. However, Ping is still a bit underwhelming, and it would be nice if they could add more features or content to make it more exciting.

**Technical Note: Server Issues**

Finally, just a quick note for anyone trying to download iTunes 10 at the time of this recording: there have been some server issues that might prevent you from downloading. If you're having trouble getting past the download page, try refreshing the page a few times and it should pop up again.

**The Verdict**

iTunes 10 is an update that's mostly minor, with only a few significant changes. While it doesn't feel like much of a step forward, there are some nice tweaks and improvements here and there. If you're due for an upgrade or want to try out the new features, now might be the time.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys so today I'm here with an overview of iTunes 10 so in iTunes 10 that there's a lot to talk about it today at the Apple conference they were talking a lot about paying as well as some other improvements so I'm going to go ahead and give you guys an overview um but before we begin anything I just really just summ up really quickly it's pretty much the same iTunes uh now as you guys can see they use a different font which looks really quite nice um it's a little bit different as you can see here the bottom is a little bit more streamlined so is the top um so they've made a few minor changes but all in all I'd say it's 93% 93 I don't know that's kind of Rand but I would say it was very very similar to how it is uh how it was iTunes 9 was I'm going to go ahead and just show you some of the new features as well as ping uh so obviously as you can see here there's a new view so you know you can click through all these different views um this one's actually a a hybrid view so actually you can see album artwork um it it looks much better as you can see here like some of the here some of these other songs that does not have album artwork you can see it doesn't look quite so nice so as you can see here the with the album artwork and everything it looks really quite nice um you know but still just pretty much like iTunes uh and we can go ahead and go through movies and all that kind of stuff like for example apps uh one thing is as you guys can see here it really finally Works um now I'm sure most of you guys know that iTunes used to be really laggy as far as looking at this you had to wait for each individual image well no longer it actually is really pretty Snappy uh now pretty much that's all the main things like I said guys there's not a whole lot new what the main thing new is Ping uh so ping is well it's really similar to Facebook and when I say that I mean it's very very similar to a focus down version of Facebook um so basically here it is and once you do it you can go ahead and set up everything uh it's not that big a deal to go ahead and set it up basically you can go ahead and just you know tell a little bit about yourself Etc um and basically you can go ahead and follow people and really right now there's not there's really nothing here um basically it will say as you can see here on the bottom right there's like people that they recommend that you follow um normal people stuff like that so you can see here there's a lot of celebrities such as you know Lady Gaga etc etc um so I just picked somebody random cold playay just to show you what it looks like so we can go ahead and like take a look at pictures so we going go ahead and just take a look at this um so you see actually opens up kind of nicely um you can go ahead and do video as well and it just opens up in a little window um and pretty much it's you know it's pretty decent now of course like if you want to go ahead and put a comment so we like yeah you know you suck whatever I mean you can you can post whatever comments you like um it's pretty simple uh now one thing I will mention about ping is that like I said it's really it's it's kind of underwhelming right now because there's not a whole lot to do and there's it would be nice if they had a tutorial to kind of explain because really it's it's not it's just kind of confusing right now I mean you just look around here and you just there's not a whole lot to do but anyway guys that's pretty much it for my iTunes 10 review or not review but it's just an overview there's really not a whole lot new um basically to sum it up it's a little bit faster um it does seem to be working a little bit better and the new music view I like it I mean you know it's it's it's nothing amazing but it works pretty well and well I think I think iTunes 10 is finally taken a little bit step towards you know being a little bit more usable not so laggy and so glitchy and all that kind of stuff um but anyway guys if you're interested uh you can go ahead check it out I have a link in the description to go ahead and download it now I will just say really quickly at the time of this recording there's a there's a few server issues so if you're not able to download just refresh the page a couple times and it should pop up so you know just kind of just a little bit of warning there anyway guys thanks for watching ohey guys so today I'm here with an overview of iTunes 10 so in iTunes 10 that there's a lot to talk about it today at the Apple conference they were
