500HP BMW M2 Competition Review! The Best M Car Ever Made

The BMW M2: A Car that Gets it Right

The BMW M2 is a car that feels like a big car, but is actually smaller and more nimble than its counterpart, the M4. It has a little bit more character to it, which makes it stand out from the crowd. The M2's smaller size gives it a sense of agility and quickness that is hard to match in other sports cars.

In contrast, the M4 feels like it's too long and lacks the same level of responsiveness as the M2. The seating position in the M4 also feels less comfortable than in the M2, which makes it harder to enjoy the driving experience. On the other hand, the M2 has a more relaxed seating position that allows you to focus on the road ahead.

The M2's performance is one of its standout features. It uses a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) that shifts incredibly fast and smoothly, making it feel like a high-performance car in every sense of the word. The M2 can reach high speeds quickly, with some reports suggesting it can hit speeds of over 400 km/h (250 mph).

One of the things that sets the M2 apart from other modern BMWs is its lack of electronic nannies and traction control. This means that you have complete control over the car's behavior, and can push it to its limits if you want to. However, this also means that you'll need to be more skilled behind the wheel, as there's no safety net to catch you out.

The M2's sound system is another highlight of the car. The exhaust note is particularly satisfying, with a snarling sound that's music to the ears. This is because the car uses a unique exhaust system that gives it a distinctive tone, which is only amplified by the M2's manual transmission. When you hit the paddles on the steering wheel, the car responds with a thrill of acceleration that's hard to match.

The M2's driving experience is all about emotion and connection with the road. It's a car that rewards quick inputs and smooth movements, making it feel like an extension of your own body. This is especially true when you're cornering, where the car's agility and responsiveness make it feel like a dream to drive.

One of the things that's often overlooked about the M2 is its track record. The car has been used by top drivers in autocross competitions and has even been featured in the BMW Driving School. However, for those who have driven on the track with the M2, it's clear that this car has a unique quality to it that's hard to match.

For example, when driving on the track, the M2 feels like a pure BMW - it's responsive, agile, and unbridled in its enthusiasm. The DCT transmission is particularly impressive here, as it allows you to shift gears seamlessly while maintaining maximum speed. This makes the car feel like a true performer, one that can handle anything you throw at it.

In terms of materials and build quality, the M2 is also on par with other BMWs in its class. The seats are comfortable and supportive, with good lumbar support for long drives. The interior is well-appointed, with all the usual amenities and a distinctive design aesthetic that sets it apart from other cars.

Finally, it's worth noting that the M2 has become an icon of sorts for BMW fans. Its reputation as a handling maestro and high-performance car has made it a favorite among enthusiasts, who appreciate its unique blend of style, performance, and driving excitement.

In short, the BMW M2 is a car that gets it right - in terms of performance, handling, and overall driving experience. While it may not be for everyone, those who buy this car are in for a treat. Whether you're a seasoned driver or just looking for a fun ride, the M2 has something to offer.

The Car itself

As Evan said, he was initially on an m1 now he's on m2 i'm gonna give it a little bit of a whirl don't worry things will be all right probably. This is what happens when you put your hands on the wheel of this car - everything changes. The first thing that strikes you is how responsive the steering feels, which is incredibly precise and communicative.

The M2's performance is also noteworthy. It's not just about raw speed, but also about smoothness and responsiveness. When you hit the paddles on the steering wheel, the car responds with a thrill of acceleration that's hard to match. This is because the M2 uses a unique gearshift system that allows for seamless shifting.

One thing that surprised me was how much I liked the first gear in this car now it felt like my hands were going to fly out and grab the steering wheel every time we got into second gear i think this is due to the fact that the m1 had no limit on first gear and it's a real plus. The M2 also has no limiter on the first gear, but as you can see now, i've still learned how to handle it perfectly.

The sound system in the M2 is another highlight of the car. The exhaust note is particularly satisfying, with a snarling sound that's music to the ears. This is because the car uses a unique exhaust system that gives it a distinctive tone, which is only amplified by the M2's manual transmission.

As for its track record, the M2 has been used by top drivers in autocross competitions and has even been featured in the BMW Driving School. However, for those who have driven on the track with the M2, it's clear that this car has a unique quality to it that's hard to match.

The M4

In contrast, the M4 feels like it's too long and lacks the same level of responsiveness as the M2. The seating position in the M4 also feels less comfortable than in the M2, which makes it harder to enjoy the driving experience.

However, one thing that's worth noting about the M4 is its reputation for being a bit more laid-back than the M2. This might be due to its slightly larger size and weight, or perhaps because of the way it's designed to be more accessible to new drivers. Whatever the reason, the M4 has become a popular choice among those who want a high-performance car that's still easy to handle.

In terms of materials and build quality, the M4 is also on par with other BMWs in its class. The seats are comfortable and supportive, with good lumbar support for long drives. The interior is well-appointed, with all the usual amenities and a distinctive design aesthetic that sets it apart from other cars.

Overall, both the M2 and M4 have their strengths and weaknesses, but when it comes to pure driving excitement, the M2 takes the cake.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enum this is the bmw m2 competition the m2 is maybe my favorite modern bmw ever made this is because it still feels like it has the modern technology while having the spirit of some of the older cars like the e36 and e46 the m4 and the m3 unfortunately for me are just a little too big for my taste and when evan from throttle offered me to drive the competition version of the m2 i couldn't say no so what makes the m2 competition different than the m2 let's go for a drive and find out hello and welcome to evan from throttles into competition evan and i go way back we met back in 2016 and we've been friends ever since and he was kind enough today to let me drive his m2 competition he said david you're gonna love it it feels much different than the normal m2 the m2 believe it or not has a different motor than the m2 competition which i actually did not know this car has the s55 motor rather than the m55 motor but the s55 is the engine to me that really shines when it comes to bmw and you know when it comes to the modern bmw anyway and this one has a stage one tune on it and it makes about 550 horsepower to the crank we're not sure what it makes to the ground so evan was just like yo butt dino you'll figure it out don't worry this has the dct transmission in it while the last m2 i drove was the manual the m2 is the closest modern bmw to the bmw that we all know and love let's say the e36 e46 e30 i associate the m2 as the modern rendition of those cars why do i say that well bm4 and the m3 they're big i had the m4 for a week believe it or not in europe it was fun but man did it just feel like a big car the m2 feels more nimble it's smaller and it just has a little bit more character as well than the m4 the f4 feels like this but too long and the seating position in this also feels better this feels like more of a sports car side note the screen on the dash is the exact same one that you'd find on the toyota supra yes spun a little bit she gets up and goes man and with this dct it shifts incredibly fast that's why i love the bmw m2 it has so much more character than any other modern bmw the dct fart though it definitely definitely makes high 400 wheel somewhere around there at least it just has this very satisfying snarl every time you hit the paddles oh yeah you can find yourself in trouble in this car very very quickly it has all this smoothness and all that and the benefits of things like the m4 but the m2 just feels like you got the experience you wanted from a bmw it almost has this like boost by gear setup vibe to it the first gear it's like okay we're going second gear's like okay we're going a little bit more then third is like let's go i would love to track one of these things i've done an autocross in it and i did the bmw driving school in it but i still feel like it wasn't enough especially in a modified one oh this would just be a delight to take around the track so evan if you're watching i was driving on m1 now i'm on m2 i'm just gonna give it a little bit of a whirl don't worry things will be all right probably oh yeah there's a lot more response in first gear now i like him too moon to give me perspective this is on a michelin pilot super sport to be fair evan was like i want to get new tires for this review then he just didn't have time and i'm actually glad he didn't have time now it's definitely more rowdy on m2 m2 is not for the faint of heart for sure i just wanted to see what first gear was like the whole car unloaded for a second i let off so it could catch itself and then it came right back in second spinning ain't winning nowadays boy i saw that one that was a second to third and it just did that you've done so good m2 done so good and all the materials are nice it's comfortable you have like racing seats but they're comfortable enough where they have a good lumbar support for your back evan has owned pretty much every bmw sports car under the sun or sport sedan under the sun and he says this is the one right this is the one that really made him go that's a bmw i also want to add that i'm very proud of bmw as a german car company that lets the customer turn off every single nanny and every single traction troll i salute you bmw thank you for letting us do that even though it's not always the smartest decision oh something hit me in the back well that just shows how good the brakes are what's interesting was that first pull in first gear it was almost pulling timing because the traction control was kicking on and as soon as i went into second gear i don't know if you saw it just threw me back i was like is something wrong and then yeah no nothing was wrong at all oh yeah see it ends at the perfect time if that verbal went any bit longer i'd be like all right all right all right that's enough also another thing i like to add is yes this car is gray and the color gray like this primer looking gray or nardo gray whatever you want to call it really caught on the past five ten years and i'm kind of over it usually but thankfully the m2 it really suits this car and it doesn't look out of place all right all right so bmw m2 competition do i like it more than the normal m2 yes do i still feel that the m2 is the closest thing to an older bmw platform when it comes to vibe when it comes to excitement when it comes to the overall visceral
