**A Critical Review of the Nexus S**
I rocked this phone for a whole week straight as my main number. I just can't get over this cheap plastic feel to this phone. I mean, you gotta use it for yourself in order to know what I'm talking about. This phone just feels so cheap. It feels flimsy. You already know if you drop it, it's a wrap. You know this just a build-it kind of situation. Just feels cheap. Just feels whack. You know what I'm saying? When you're playing around with it in the store, you're not gonna be able to see 100% what I'm saying. But when you start rocking it every day, you're gonna know. Especially if you had an EVO or a trio or an iPhone or a real phone.
When you start using this Nexus S, it's going to feel like some cheap now. I dropped this rubberized case on it because I also don't like that curve shape. But whatever. The added weight of the case makes it look a little bit bigger, but still feels cheap and whack. Another thing to remember is that the screen is 4 inches, but if you're used to using the Evo with the 4.3-inch screen, you'll notice the difference.
If you've ever used the Evo shift, which has a slightly smaller screen, you'll realize why all the companies are now coming out with 4.3-inch screens for their flagship phones. It's like that's mandatory now. If you're considering upgrading, don't waste your money on this phone. You might as well hold out for the Evo, which is rumored to be released soon. And if you've seen the Motorola Atrix, which has a dual-core processor, that's where all the new phones are going.
The Nexus S does have one advantage: it's fast. It's got a dual-core processor, and that makes it extra fast compared to other phones in its price range. But is it fast enough for $500 and change? No way. When you can get an Evo or an Epic for about $200, this phone just doesn't make sense.
So, who should buy the Nexus S? If you're new to Android and are making the switch from a different operating system, this might be a good starter phone for you. But if you're an Android veteran like me, I'm telling you: this phone is not worth it. It's a no-go. And even if you've been using Android for a while, if you've got an Evo or another high-end phone, there's no reason to upgrade to the Nexus S.
**The Verdict**
I gave the Nexus S a 9 out of 10 initially, but after experiencing it firsthand, I'm taking that back. The phone does everything it's advertised to do and has no lag, which is impressive. However, considering its price point, it just doesn't feel worth it. If you've got an Evo or another high-end Android phone, don't worry about upgrading to the Nexus S. It's a solid 7 out of 10, but that's still not enough to justify the cost.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyo what's up everybody it's your boy floss I'm back again doing another video and today we're going to do the Real review of the Samsung Nexus S from Sprint all right now you seen the unboxing video you seen all the tech videos so I ain't going to waste your time with a bunch of I'm going just jump right into this review the main question that people been asking me is is this phone a fail or not all right and I'm going to keep it real with y'all this the phone is not a fail okay it does everything it's advertised to do you know you can check your emails on It Go on YouTube you know browse the web make phone calls and all that the phone works so it's not a complete fail but is it a goal the answer to that is no this phone is definitely a no goal all right so let's be clear on that the Sprint Nexus S is a noo why you asking simple this phone is just missing too many features you know it's missing too many options and um I'm just not feeling it I'm going to run through a little list I made of that is missing and I don't like about it so you make your own decision but basically this is not the top-of-the-line phone out right now from Sprint and um everybody knows the Evo is still a champ you know the Evo right now does everything that the Nexus does plus more all right so you know this is kind of a no-brainer you know why am I going to you know think about it like this if you got an upgrade coming on your contract why you going to waste it getting a phone that's exactly like the phones that that are out now you know it doesn't make sense why not save that upgrade and get the next Evo or get you know the Atrix or whatever else is coming out dual core processor that's the next you know that's where all the phones are moving now in the future everything is going dual core processor this is still you know 1 GHz processor so you know why waste your upgrade on that or why just take you know $600 out of your pocket and drop it on this and this is doing less stuff than the evil doesn't make sense but I'm not going to completely bash the phone I I tell you what I do like about it tell you what I don't like about it then you make your own decision but basically for me this phone is a nogo all right now what do I like about it first of all I like the super amulet screen that's a go okay now if you ever had any of the Samsung Series you know about that that super Amal screen is bright the colors on it are nice and blue and black you know the colors really pop out at you so you know that's that's a good look for me I like that all right I like that also this phone you know compared to the Epic and the vibrant and some of the other Galaxy phones you know they fix the lag issue on it I don't know if that's from you know the the 2.3 upgrade or whatever but it's not laggy yet like it used to be with the Epic that was one of my main problems I had with the Epic it always lagged out so this phone doesn't have any of those lag issues on it all right the next thing I like about the phone is the camera not the video camera the regular camera if you're taking still photos they come out nice all right there a 5 megapixel camera but like I said in my other videos don't get too wrapped up with 5 megapixel 8 megapixel because a lot of times if you notice the Evo is 8 megapixel and the Epic was 5 megapixel but the epic pictures just look better so don't get too caught up with all that the the Nexus S takes great pictures all right so you got the pictures you got the screen and you got the lag issue that's that's three things that I do like about this phone all right now if you're a big fan of nexs stop the video here cuz I'm getting ready to start bashing all right so I take a second so you can pause the video or stop it and switch to something else cuz you don't want to hear this all right let's talk about what this phone is missing all right first off there's no HDMI port on the bottom okay now I'm going to keep it real with you I don't really use that feature too much but at the same time if you look at the bottom of the Evo you clearly see HDMI port now I'm a man I'm all about options even if I don't use it I like to have that option present and it's missing on this this is brand new device and it's just missing the option okay so that's already one strike no HDMI port is it a big deal not the end of the world and I wouldn't call the phone a noo just because of that but that's just one thing I don't like about it now here's something that you might not have noticed so you might not have seen on on the other videos on the camera there's no zoom and I I show you what I'm talking about okay so let's let's let's pull up the camera now this is the camera on the Nexus S all right notice anything missing let me see if I could cover this black so you can see the screen better notice anything missing on the side there's no option to zoom in and out all right now I was talking to my man the other day and he told me uh you know try hitting the volume rocker and all that let me tell you something all right now I had all of these same phones every single one of them that was hot I had all of them okay trust me there's no Zoom no zoom and I'll show you something else let's take a look at the evil right now this is the camera on the EVO let's cover that lens up and let's pull up pull it back up on the Nexus and you tell me what you see missing from here right you see that one X right there get a closeup on it when you when you're using the gingerbread on the EVO you click that and that's your Zoom right there now let's take a look no1 X okay trust me when I'm telling you this all right there's no Zoom now they might fix that with a update you know when they switch to the 2.4 ice cream and all that they might fix that but right now out of the box on your camera you got no Zoom is that a big deal for you might not be a big deal but for me that's a big deal and I tell you the the other day now checking in on Four Square so you know I don't want to be right in front of the store looking like a tourist going like this taking a picture of the store so I try to lean back in the cut a little bit and take a picture that's when I realized that there was no Zoom you know and I switched this to my main number so I didn't even have my Evo in my pocket to to pull it out and I was like wow there's no zoom on the camera you know that's a that's a major flaw okay but anyway that's two things right there so let's let's just keep it moving cuz this this list is a little bit long all right no zoom on the camera what else no memory card slot all right is that a big deal of course it is especially nowadays when you're switching phones all the time you know every every other month a new phone is coming out there's no memory card so now all your pictures that you had on this phone on your old phone and you want to put them on this phone you're going to be emailing you're going to be connecting to your computer and doing a lot of transfer and all that as opposed to just popping the micro USB card out and poping into the next phone all right so this phone is missing that the Evo every body knows the evil has memory card okay so that's another thing what else no status light is that a big deal might not be to you but it's a big deal for me now if you use your phone in the house and you have it on the dock you know like on your table or something in the middle of the night me I like to get my sleep when I'm you know at night when I'm trying to go to sleep a lot of times I like to turn all my phones off and just you know go to sleep but occasionally if I wake up I could glance over and look at the status light and tell if I'm missing any you know missing anything important no status light all right not the biggest deal in the world but just another strike against Samsung and another strike against the Nexus S all right what else another thing that's major important the video camera doesn't shoot an HD okay so you're not making no HD videos now you already seen my camera test a lot of people was like oh why you didn't why you didn't why didn't you shoot in an HD because there's no HD that's why and I'll show you right now just in case if you you know if you don't believe me and you want to see for yourself let's take a look at the camera again when I when you click the video and you click on your settings let's see if I can pull something up for you uh this is this is all your settings right here okay that's the settings for the video camera no HD video go look at the reviews if you don't believe me go go look online Google it for yourself no HD video so you can forget about that everybody knows with the Evo you're getting that HD video okay now a lot of people saying why you always comparing phones to the Evo you got to remember that the Evo is the you know it's the top selling phone with Sprint right now it's the top-of-the-line phone that that you know that's out with Sprint so of course I got to compare everything to the top of the line the same thing when you hear people you know compare tablets they compare everything to the iPad because that's the number one selling tablet it set the Benchmark already pretty high so everything else before you even try to say is better than the iPad can it even equal the iPad all right so now before I'm going say something that's better than the Evo can it even reach to that same level and um obviously you see for yourself the Nexus S is not doing that all right but let's let's go back to the list now let's let's keep it moving back to the list of that I'm not feeling on it all right what else the home screen you know this phone it you know since we know that it's a pure Google phone there's no third party you know you know no Samsung UI none of that stuff you basically stuck with what you get unless you're going to go and root your phone but we're not talking about rooted phones we're just talking about stock right now all right so if you're not going to root your phone your home screen icons you can't change them all right so it's always going to be yeah you can change whatever you want but it's always going to be the internet your app drawer and your phone at the bottom now I don't I don't know about you you know that might not be a big deal like you know you might not think that's nothing but for me that's not how I like my my phones you know I like to be able to customize them the way I want and if you notice with my Evo I like to have a phone of course but I like to have my Viper Smart Start my UIL and my Google Voice so no matter where I'm at on the on the screen I can always flow right to my car alarm and see what's going on my whip you know what I'm saying I can always check my voicemail and all that you might say it's not a big deal okay it's not a big deal you just scroll a few times but it's a big deal to me because you're talking about dropping over $500 on a new phone that can't do what the phone I already have does so that's a big deal all right what else no FM radio okay is that a big deal no but there's one on the EVO okay no swipe keyboard yeah you could download stuff from the market and all that but um if you had the Epic you know it came with the swipe so you know that's something that you kind of if you got used to using the swipe on the Epic you would think on the next which is supposed to be like step up from the Epic they would have kept it and it's not there so no swipe keyboard and one of the most probably probably the most thing most important thing that I don't like about this phone is just the actual build of the phone you know when I got the phone I tried to put it on you know I put it as my main number I rocked it today Sunday I rocked it for a whole week straight as my main number I just can't get over this cheap plastic feel to this phone I mean you got to use it for yourself in coming out all with dual core processes okay now dual core processor is the new wave that's where all the new phones are going if you ever see the the LG uh what is the G2x one of my boys got that you know that phone is a win all right it's extra fast now yeah this phone is fast and all that but is it fast enough for $500 and change meanwhile when you got the Evo on the market you got the Evo shift you even got the Epic now you could get for about $200 this phone is just not worth it okay I mean it's a good phone you know buy this phone for your girl you know get this phone to your daughter or something it this phone would be good for you if you never used Android before and this your first time if you had an iPhone for the last 3 years if you had a Windows phone and you're just making your move over to Android yeah this might be a good starter Android phone for you but for Android veterans like me like my boy Josh Alonso Anthony you know the dudes who got you know who been in this game for a minute trust me this phone is not worth it all right it's a nogo all right it's your boy floss you know leave a comment you know what I'm saying if I if I said something wrong or you know it's something that I don't know hit me up let me know cuz maybe I you know I do make mistakes but basically you heard it from me I'm remember I gave it a nine I'm taking that nine back I'm giving this phone a solid seven only because it does everything that it's advertised to do and there's no lag so therefore the phone is a good phone is you know it's a seven I wouldn't worry if you have an evil don't even worry about you know just because this phone is new should you go and get rid of your Evo real quick and get this keep the Evo if you got the Epic keep the Epic if you got the um Evo shift keep it this phone right here is cool but for $500 and change it's a nogo all right it's your boy floss I'mma catch y'all on the next trip shout out to everybody who watching the videos shout out to everybody that's subscribed to the channel shout out to all my dudes on Facebook you know cuz that's where I'm at you know every you know hit me up with this on the YouTube and leave the comments you know if it takes a couple of minutes for me to get back you know I'm all over the place but hit me up on Facebook hit me up on Four Square that's where you know that's where we making them moves at all right I'mma catch y'all on the next trip deucesyo what's up everybody it's your boy floss I'm back again doing another video and today we're going to do the Real review of the Samsung Nexus S from meanwhile when you got the Evo on the market you got the Evo shift you even got the Epic now you could get for about $200 this phone is just not worth it okay I mean it's a good phone you know buy this phone for your girl you know get this phone to your daughter or something it this phone would be good for you if you never used Android before and this your first time if you had an iPhone for the last 3 years if you had a Windows phone and you're just making your move over to Android yeah this might be a good starter Android phone for you but for Android veterans like me like my boy Josh Alonso Anthony you know the dudes who got you know who been in this game for a minute trust me this phone is not worth it all right it's a nogo all right it's your boy floss you know leave a comment you know what I'm saying if I if I said something wrong or you know it's something that I don't know hit me up let me know cuz maybe I you know I do make mistakes but basically you heard it from me I'm remember I gave it a nine I'm taking that nine back I'm giving this phone a solid seven only because it does everything that it's advertised to do and there's no lag so therefore the phone is a good phone is you know it's a seven I wouldn't worry if you have an evil don't even worry about you know just because this phone is new should you go and get rid of your Evo real quick and get this keep the Evo if you got the Epic keep the Epic if you got the um Evo shift keep it this phone right here is cool but for $500 and change it's a nogo all right it's your boy floss I'mma catch y'all on the next trip shout out to everybody who watching the videos shout out to everybody that's subscribed to the channel shout out to all my dudes on Facebook you know cuz that's where I'm at you know
