I recently put all of my stuff into a storage unit and I took a six-week trip to Europe and that's where I met you at the Goodwood event that was so much fun, we had to talk about this for a second because we are in the gladiator. As we were discussing the car, Mitch mentioned that he wanted to show me the Patriot park because that is it, there's a Jeep Patriot right there in the park, and as you can see that is not a real Jeep, so we are not comparing the Patriots to the Gladiator.
So, I asked Mitch about his gladiator, what on earth possessed him to put a Hellcat engine in it. He explained that it was basically a crate motor from Mopar, which means he could just buy the motor and put it in anything he wanted, as long as it fit. The stock gladiator comes with a 3.6 liter V6, which produces only 285 horsepower, which is not very impressive compared to some of the other cars on the market.
Living in Salt Lake City and driving up to Park City, where I live, means climbing over 4,000 feet, and it's like driving in the slow lane at times. Mitch said that he wanted to convert his gladiator into a six-by-six, which means rotating six wheels instead of four, so he really needs some power behind it.
I had a bone to pick with Mitch earlier because I couldn't explain to him why my username is called Strad Man. When I was 13 years old, I needed a username for Ferrari chat and my favorite car at the time was the Ferrari Challenge Stradale, just like mine. I'm not sure if anyone knew about that car when I created the username, but it just came to me. Over time, "Strad Man" became one of my go-to usernames across all my platforms.
I have to admit, I almost ended up with a different username called "Ram Rocks." It was something I used in Hotmail when I was 9 or 10 years old, and I realized that it might not be the best choice for a YouTube channel. Luckily, Mitch offered me an alternative - if my video gets 34,000 likes, I can change his YouTube channel name to "Rocking Ramp" for just one day.
Despite our differences, Mitch has two million subscribers on YouTube, which is amazing. Sometimes life doesn't move at the pace we want it to, but it's moments like these that remind us of what's truly important. Mitch said that he needs sound more than anything in his life, and I have to agree with him.
As for my love of speed, I think it's because I've always been fascinated by the world around me. When Mitch says he follows things, I think he means he observes the details that others might miss. Sometimes we need to slow down to appreciate the beauty in life, but other times, a little speed can be invigorating.
As we wrapped up our conversation at the Goodwood event, I realized that it's always a pleasure to meet new people and share stories about cars. Thank you to Mitch for having me, and thank you to everyone who watches my channel - I'm glad to have such an amazing community of car enthusiasts behind me.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello one and all welcome to seen through glass welcome to Utah we are back in the United States of America it's been a few hundred miles since my last video we left Canada about three or four days ago and passed through Montana Idaho and Wyoming before making a hitch and what I will describe as the beautiful Utah haven't done much exploring ever so far so good and right now I'm ash on my way to meet up with the first rad man fellow youtuber the Strad man because he lives in Utah now at the last few days was they have been scenic the weather hasn't really been on our side and so it's made filming a little bit difficult but of course and it still tried to film something but is the scenery and the wildlife was amazing so as I make my way to the Strad man's house I'm going to show you some clips of our road trip over the last few days yes catch you guys in a minute well I have now arrived at the Strad man's famous house and driveway anyone that's ever watched any of his videos will know this location very very well and if you think it takes two seconds to line up the cars like that you would be wrong we spent but the last 15 minutes moving cars and now and really disturbing this entire neighborhood now before I get James to walk around the cars and tell us the story of each of them just a little bit of a back story about three maybe even four years ago I met James the strap man for the very first time during monterrey car week at that point he only owned his Lamborghini Guyardo it was basically all you owned in life at that point I think he was still camping during car week here we are I say three maybe four years later and this is his driveway quite ridiculous so of course we need to celebrate that I want to ask him about that and just yeah I mean what an incredible achievement but for now in true driveway gold style let's hear more from the Strad man about the cars on this Drive hey what's up guys my name is James I'm the Strad man and these are my five cars where'd you begin obviously we have to start with the og the Lamborghini guy out of 2006 it has a gated manual transmission I bought this car on September 26 2015 maybe the best day in my entire life and I like I sort of financed it through the roof like this has been a dream of mine my entire life to have a supercar and I probably bought it before I really should have but never doubtful said no regrets I love this car so much I will never sell this car like I love all the other cars but this is the car that will stay if I go bankrupt I will find a way to keep this one so I just been a dream come true to own this car I've put about 40,000 miles on it and three and a half years you guys might remember it was wrapped purple at one point Sam you might remember it had the ski box on it winter tires doing all sorts of donuts skiing behind it it's just been such a great car it's been bulletproof - like it's just ultra ultra reliable so yeah 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo that car will stay forever newest acquisition to the collection we have the 20/20 mark 5 Toyota Supra I bought this car about a month ago in New York City I was kind of like a last-minute decision I think it was Monday I was like Monday morning I had no idea was gonna buy Supra by Monday afternoon I had talked to my roommate he thought it was a good idea and then Tuesday morning I was flying to New York to buy it and then I drove it back from New York here to Utah in that timeframe since I bought it I've put 6,500 miles on it so it's been quite the car I absolutely love it it's wrapped satin Vampira red so it's the launch edition number 304 1500 and I just ordered the new pandan wide body kit and if you gave me like 10 seconds you got 10 seconds go is the pendant wide body kit this is the massive monstrosity of a rear wing that is going to be fitted onto the super here soon we have fender flares we have - all sorts of stuff front splitter the install for this is gonna happen soon I haven't actually found the person to do the install but soon it's gonna be on display at SEMA it's gonna be at SEMA this car so yeah I'll be back Supra and now we have the Focus RS so this is my daily driver I really bought this car for my dog I found that he doesn't actually like it though because like a hot hatch it's got a manual transmission and it pops like crazy it has an aftermarket Borla exhaust and so every time it pops he just like freaks out so consequently he doesn't ride in it very often yeah but I it's so much fun to drive I mean six-speed manual transmission it has a bunch of mountain aftermarket accessories intercooler intake it's got that Borla exhaust I have down pipes on order it is such a fun little car like the ultimate ultimate daily driver as far as my plans for this not too much I'm gonna keep it relatively stocked because it is the daily and I want to go too crazy but absolutely love the Focus RS and then we'd have the absolute dream the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador like I always knew I could like fake my way into getting a supercar like you know just just spend nothing like just nothing and then use all the money I made to buy like a Guyardo whereas the Aventador I never imagined I could get the flagship and I love this car so much so it's satin purple it has the full 10:16 industries carbon fiber kit it has the Brixton forged wheels and in the best mod I have ever done to any car in the world is the frequency intelligence exhaust it sounds so good it spits flames like on-demand like every single time you hit you hit the accelerator boom flame flame flame like on demand it is so loud and we're talking flames like like no joke no joke three feet long flames love this car so much hopefully I never have to sell this car you I mean I really want to tell any of them but the lamb was like I'm just like a total Lando fanboy so yeah the Aventador and now we have the gladiator I have big plans for this gladiator so so far it has a six and a half inch lift it has 40 inch tires and it has a Hellcat engine slop done to it so we're talking 6.2 liter supercharged v8 707 horsepower it sounds absolutely insane and it can do FAT FAT FAT burnouts however the axles are stock and so I did the burnout and I kind of blow up the axle long story short I need to get better axles so a whole build is coming to this I'm actually going to be converting it to a 6x6 so this is also going to be on display at SEMA here soon first week of November 6x6 conversion needs to start here soon and then I'm gonna be upgrading the Hellcat to the hellephant which is mopars new thousand horsepower crate motor so that's gonna be happening soon as well this thing is an absolute monster I love this so yeah that's kind of sort of a quick and dirty of the car collection good we're good and people think YouTube's not hard-working the pressure is on Suzy on so we've moved my car in front of James's I've been allowed into the lineup I don't know what you're doing do you were trying to show off I was you should move the Jeep and a good stabbing the flatbed honestly that's what we should do I would say to Moe but I'm holding the camera it's no excuse I could speed up the station if you want I would be okay snap just go like this and then it's go okay and that was solely me here we go have you even got a camera on oh yeah yeah don't climb up there without the camera ah that's my exercise for the day hello Oscar jeez this way you knew you usually sit yeah these kind of stores yeah okay you'll be okay you'll be okay bull Jack you're gonna find I immediately feel more manly in this car oh yeah oh you're on top of everybody you're like on top of the world I'm in this yeah we could crush a million things I'm loud oh wow okay this is I'm actually quite glad that this is what we take oh we were never gonna take the event but it had to be the hell yeah it's been like this the whole time I've had bad experiences in the past with loud courtesy poor Willis god bless the car wash yes okay we're gonna go in a bit of a dry ask you some questions us it's gonna be with us the whole time which is the most exciting part roll back here Thank You Oscar I just want to sell my lab oh no oh I'll get it back there if you want them on you laughing hey did you have to get used to driving a car like this cuz how high was you all standard Wrangler it was so that was thirty five inch tires two and a half inch left these are 40 inch tires six and half inch lifts so were ya you couldn't drive something like this in the UK yeah yeah I couldn't imagine on those streets I drove like a small little SUV I don't remember what it was on the streets of London it was right-hand drive manual transmission fruit your absolute disaster streets they're so narrow oh wait people say this but obvious I guess I'm used to it being a London or a European right it does if I come here and everything's super wide especially you type the roads and you tow are wider than anywhere else in the nation it's kind of amazing then also bit here we've got so much space to do stuff for those of my audience who for some reason don't know who you are let's start the very beginning who are you what you do tell me about your channel etc yes so my name is James and the Strad man I live here in the beautiful state of Utah and I film supercars I first started my channel I would travel the world hunting the most rare exclusive cars and that was the channel for sure and then I bought the Guyardo and so then I started filming some content with my own cars but it's so travel a bunch and then I got into the Jeep world had there and I just love the Jeep oh and I love adventure you can go anywhere in this and the thing is I really feel like that's like your channel it took as you said like a big step up with the guy auto but then an even bigger leap when you got that Jeep wrangling you went as other strategy tapped another market and I loved those I also want to know how'd you do those drone shots like something like the most like drone following shots of you driving the Jeep across God knows where getting my classic life in but yeah what I'm trying to say is your drone shots of you off-roading pick it was a one-man operation so let's just say I may have been driving and flying 100% okay so long story sure it's been what how many years we had the chat achievements I've had the channel for six and a half years I've been doing it full-time for three-and-a-half okay and you're doing it full-time it wasn't it's only a choice right no no no I was gonna tell us to it so April 1st 2016 the company I went for went bankrupt and I had like a small little YouTube channel Danny and I would do occasional film 2 videos a month or a show channel wit or the company went bankrupt and I was like well let's do it let's just see what can happen and so just went false and I ended the lease on my apartment ok I put all of my stuff into a storage unit and I took a six-week trip to Europe and that's where I met you at the Goodwood event that was we show Mitch you let's talk about this for a second because we are in the gladiator what's the Patriot park because that is it there's a there's a Jeep Patriot is on a true Jeep we're gonna put a photo of said Patriot right here and as you can see that is not a real just buy the motor and put it in anything you want as long as you can make it fit and a stock gladiator has a 3.6 liter v6 285 horsepower which is not very impressive no it's just so slow and in here at elevation okay so living living down in Salt Lake climbing up to Park City you're climbing three four thousand feet you're in the slow lane doing 50 miles an hour like it's just so what nothing's going on with you exactly and I'm gonna be converting this gladiator into a six by six so I'm gonna be rotating six wheels instead of four so I really need it okay yeah sure okay I did warn you I had a bone to pick with you because can you dis explain to the viewers the origin of your name in the Strad man so when I was about 13 years old I needed a username for Ferrari chat calm and my favorite car was the Ferrari Challenge Stradale just like yours truly I'm not sure my owners ever heard about that car and so I was just sitting in my parents computer and the name just popped in my head Strad
