The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin _ Review (Spoiler Free)

**A Pleasant Surprise: A Review of "The Last Time I Lied" by Michelle Hodkin**

I was expecting many more paranormal aspects than I actually got, but I found it to read a lot like a contemporary. There were obviously those paranormal times and there were some paranormal aspects, but it wasn't near nearly as much as I was expecting. It was pleasantly surprising me, though, and I think this is a really great book for anyone interested in getting more into the paranormal genre.

I didn't really find it all that scary; it was definitely creepy and eerie, but I didn't think it was like "wow, I'm scared out of my wits" scary. So, if you're not typically into paranormal or horror books, this might be a good starting point for you. It's well-written, and the author does a great job of creating an atmosphere that makes you question what's real and what's not.

The characters in this book are one of my favorite aspects of it. M.D. Dyer is actually a very enjoyable character; I didn't think I'd like her because of the unreliable narrator aspect, but she reads more like the protagonist of a contemporary novel to me. She has this kind of creepy aspect to her that makes for an amazing dynamic character.

Then there's Noah Shaw - he's just so perfect. He's beautiful, witty, funny, and Swoon-worthy. I couldn't even handle how cute and charming he was at times. But what really sets him apart is his intelligence; he's not just a pretty face, but also an awesome character in his own right.

I did have some minor issues with the family dynamics, specifically Michelle's mother. She was kind of annoying, and I didn't really like her that much. However, this wasn't enough to detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. The relationships between characters were well-developed, especially the sibling relationships - M.D. and her older brother were particularly well-written.

The plot itself is fast-paced and engaging. It's a page-turner, and I found myself reading it in record time (I read the entire 400-page book in about a day and a quarter!). The author did a great job of meshing together the paranormal elements with the contemporary setting, creating an atmosphere that was both creepy and unsettling without being overwhelming.

And then there's the cliffhanger - what can I say? It was perfect. Michelle Hodkin knows how to set up a good ending, leaving you eager for more. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with this book, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into the paranormal genre or just wanting something new and exciting.

**Overall Rating: 5/5 stars**

I hope this review has given you a good idea of what to expect from "The Last Time I Lied" by Michelle Hodkin. If you're a fan of paranormal fiction, contemporary novels, or are looking for a great book to get into the genre, this is definitely worth checking out.

by Michelle hodkin which I just kind of forgot the name of so I just read this book this past weekend and oh my god do I have to talk about it oh my God so you guys have been bugging me to read this book forever and I finally just picked it up on a whim I don't know why I didn't pick it up sooner but I finally picked it up and oh my goodness I understand I understand the hype I understand why you all wanted me to read it and thank you thank you for making me do it because I loved this book I loved it so this book is a paranormal centering around the main character Mara Dyer and she is the only Survivor of this mysterious accident that killed her three friends and no one really knows what happened the only person who would know what happened would be her but she doesn't remember at all so most of the Intrigue of this book is the fact that Mar D is a very mentally unstable character and as such she is a very unreliable narrator you don't know if what she's telling you she's seeing is actually happening or if it's in her head and it just makes for a very interesting story so this book really surprised me I was expecting many more paranormal aspects than I actually got I found it read a lot like a contemporary more so there were obviously those paranormal times and there were some paranormal aspects but it wasn't near nearly as much as I was expecting but pleasantly like it was a pleasant surprise um I think this is a really great book for anyone interested in kind of getting more into paranormal I didn't really find it all that scary it was definitely like creepy and eerie but I didn't think it was like wow I can't read this anymore scary so if you kind of want to get into paranormal I think this is a great book because I think that's kind of what was putting me off a little bit I'm not that into paranormal so I think that's why I never really wanted to pick it up but I'm so glad I did because most of it like I said reads like a contemporary but then there's also kind of the atmosphere of what is going on what is actually happening here like is this real is this not like who is this character what what what it's really just like it messes with your mind and Michelle hodkin is really great at creating the atmosphere where you kind of it makes you question what you think is real and it's it's crazy so getting back to characters M Dyer is actually a very enjoyable character I didn't think I was going to like her because of the unreliable narrator aspect but she does really read like the protagonist like the female protagonist of a contemporary novel and I thought that was great and then she just has this kind of creepy aspect to her which just makes for this amazing really dynamic character and then of course we have Noah sha where can I get one like who is this boy and where can I get one like he is so perfect he's beautiful and he's witty and he's funny and I just couldn't even handle it like this was one of those books where I had the moments where I was like oh God like that's so adorable like it was one of those books and I love those moments cuz they're just great and I was just he's so Swoon worthy but like he's intelligent and he's also an awesome character I I love Noah Shaw I love him no one told me that there was this beautiful British boy in this book then I would have picked it up like a really long time ago oh God and I also loved her family um her mother I didn't really like so much she was kind of annoying her father you didn't really get to see the parents that much though so I don't really have that much of an opinion her little brother was really cute fun character um her older brother what's his name I forget her older brother's name I don't know um but her older brother I really liked him I thought he was a really fun character and kind of the typical big brother that you kind of picture and he was just the loving caring but also like teasing brother and it was really fun and I loved the relationships between the characters in this novel as well aside from the parents I thought that the sibling relationships were great and also the love relationship was topnotch it was a little bit install lovy but it made sense and I think the romance being so great really made up for that so now straying away from characters I'm going to get a little bit into plot so I thought the plot was great it was fastpaced it was really awesome I read this entire like 400 page book in like a day and then like a quarter of a day so I basically read it in a day which is absolutely crazy because a book that size usually takes me a really long time but I just couldn't put it down because I just wanted to know what would happen and it just oh it was so good like you had the creepiness but then you had like also the contemporariness and it was the two melded together so well like I don't know how she kind of meshed them together but it it worked worked it really worked well because it was just kind of it read like a contemporary but it was paranormal and it also kind of read like a paranormal because it had that creepy aspect to it but the creepy aspect wasn't so overwhelming that it made it like kind of hard to read if that made any sense and that Cliffhanger though like what who does a cliffhanger like that oh my God so that is all I have to say about this wonderful book right here I obviously gave it a five out of five stars I just thought it was so so good I just loved it so yeah I hope you guys enjoyed this review I will probably be reading the second book soon I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a paranormal lover a contemporary lover even or who's looking to get into the Paranormal genre so yeah I will see you guys in the next video byeI finally did
