In other news, Google has been making waves in the tech world with its latest product announcements. While fans were eager to see what was on tap, it wasn't just the Pixel 5 and 4A that got some love. Google TV, formerly known as Chromecast Ultra, made a major comeback with its latest iteration. The new Chromecast with Google TV boasts impressive specs, including 4K resolution at 60fps, making it a top contender in the streaming game. With a sleek remote control and user-friendly interface, this device is sure to revolutionize the way we watch our favorite shows.
One of the standout features of the new Chromecast is its intuitive interface, which bears a striking resemblance to Netflix or Apple TV's user experience. Gone are the days of tedious setup processes; instead, users can dive straight into their content with ease. With just one page and an array of essential controls, this device is perfect for those who value simplicity and convenience.
While the Chromecast with Google TV may be pricey at $50, it's a steal compared to its predecessor, which costs a whopping $70. For those looking to upgrade their streaming experience without breaking the bank, this is definitely worth considering. However, fans of the device will have to wait for now; the Chromecast with Google TV is not yet available for purchase.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has taken it upon itself to launch a new Surface Laptop series, which brings back memories of its tiny but mighty Surface Go tablet from years past. The latest model, dubbed the Surface Laptop Go, marks Microsoft's most affordable laptop to date, priced at an attractive $550. Weighing in at just 1.1 kilograms, this device is sure to impress those who prioritize portability without sacrificing performance.
The specs are certainly appealing, with a 10th-generation Intel Core i5 chip and 40GB of RAM taking center stage. However, some might find the storage options a tad limited, coming in at 64GB of storage – hardly ideal for power users or those accustomed to fast storage speeds. The inclusion of a fingerprint reader on the device is also noteworthy, providing an added layer of security.
While the Surface Laptop Go is undoubtedly an exciting development in Microsoft's product lineup, some fans might be left underwhelmed by its modest specs and higher price point compared to the flagship models. Nevertheless, for those looking for a capable yet affordable laptop option, this could be just what they're looking for.
In other news, Mars has been making headlines once again with its latest discovery: water on the Red Planet. Scientists confirm that three lakes have been found beneath the Martian surface, including one massive lake underneath the South Pole. This revelation sheds new light on the mysteries surrounding Mars' past and raises questions about what might have happened to the planet in the distant past.
One popular theory among scientists is that advanced civilizations once inhabited Mars, only to meet with a catastrophic fate. According to this theory, these civilizations might have been wiped out by nuclear war or other extreme events, leading to the loss of knowledge and infrastructure. Another possibility suggests that humans themselves may have played a role in Martian history, potentially even originating from the Red Planet before migrating to Earth.
While we may never know the truth behind Mars' past, the discovery of these frozen lakes has sparked widespread excitement among scientists and enthusiasts alike. With each new revelation, our understanding of this fascinating world continues to grow – and we can't wait to see what other secrets it holds.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome back to zone of tech news episode number four this time of you know the whole rebrand so in this week we'll be covering quite a lot of stuff this week was pretty full so we got the xbox series x mini reviews so to say the pixel 5 announcement the pixel 4 a5g announcement the google tv is now official uh the surface laptop go is also official and we actually got water on mars again right so get us next ready sit back relax and here's everything interesting that happened this week okay so first things first the xbox series x so a few news outlets and also a few tech reviewers posted their first impressions of the actual xbox series x console now this is not that dummy unit that they got like a few weeks prior this is literally a functional unit of the xbox series x unfortunately um we weren't on santa's list to get you know an early unit so maybe next time or actually maybe no probably not next time because the next console release will be like six years or something but anyways um in terms of these articles these reviewers were actually able to test the console and even play some games so they got a first look at dui and also first look at how the games actually run on the xbox series x they got to test quick resume which is interesting so quick resume is basically the ability to open up a game and then quickly switch to a different game that you've opened up before and the loading time would be just a few seconds basically now from what i've seen it was like 10 15 20 seconds so you still had a bit of weight um obviously it's still faster than having to load another game from scratch but it wasn't as fast as i was expecting now probably the biggest thing that they've showed this week was in terms of backwards compatibility so remember when i said that these reviewers were actually able to play some games on the xbox series x well those games were not next-gen games they were actually current gen games or you know previous gen games running on the xbox series x digital foundry did a very comprehensive video which you can watch right here and in that video they showed that a few games were actually running at double the frame rates and also at native 4k compared to the xbox one x not even the xbox one but the xbox one x which was already quite a bit more powerful than the ps4 pro for example now a good example of that was hitman 2. you're probably familiar with that game that game was running at native 4k at almost a solid 60 frames per second now there were a few drops here and there so it wasn't perfect but keep in mind that this game was not optimized this was literally um the same code that was running on the xbox one and the xbox one x the only difference was that this was you know being run on the xbox series x so no optimizations and this game was basically getting double the performance and this principle of getting twice the frame rate of the xbox one x basically applied to pretty much every single demo that we've seen at the moment it only works in games that have an unlocked frame rate so not all the games will work because some games have a locked 30 fps frame rate but the ones that don't well those are the ones that can take full advantage of that extra power that the xbox series x delivers imagine how the previous gen games will run if they actually get a patch very likely in full 4k at 120 frames per second okay next up we have the google pixel 5. so we've seen quite a lot of leaks on this phone we've done a video on this phone on all the leaks that we knew but now the pixel 5 is actually official and it's pretty much everything we expected and everything we kind of knew about but there are some interesting changes and some interesting facts so here's basically what you need to know in terms of the pixel 5. um it doesn't have an xl model anymore so it's just the pixel 5 the small one essentially there's no excel anymore so this one comes with a six inch display which is 90 hertz so same as the pixel four but actually larger in terms of the size um now that's so light chip so the solid raider the 3d face scanning tech that's that's now gone i was never really a big fan of that so i do i do think that the pixel 4's face unlock was literally the best on the market like far better than apples even faster than apples now the problem was that it was just taking up a lot of space and the pixel 4 just looked outdated in 2019 you know pixel 3 also looked updated in 2018 and so on so all the pixels looked pretty bad luckily this is the first pixel uh the first flagship pixel that finally looks modern so we have a single camera cutout on the front but other than that there you go this is the pixel 5. it looks really really good very similar to the pixel 4a that got announced and launched i think it was like a month ago or something by the way we actually did a very detailed video comparing the pixel 4a against different smartphones at different price ranges so definitely check out this video if you want to learn more about the pixel 4a what else well we have a snapdragon 765g processor which is actually a downgrade from the snapdragon 855 inside the pixel 4. and i believe this processor is actually weaker than the 845 inside the pixel 3. the pixel 4a had a weaker processor and the pixel 4a was very very smooth so i'm confident that google has optimized this heavily so i don't think it's going to be a slow phone but if you game on your phone if you're a heavy gamer or if you edit loads of photos or even videos on your phone well in that case this is actually going to be a pretty noticeable downgrade from the pixel 4 or possibly even the pixel 3. but i mean aside from that everything is pretty much an upgrade so we have 5g now so this is the very first pixel phone to come with 5g there's no more telephoto module on the back so we now have an ultra wide angle module finally google embracing ultrawide uh they just bashed the ultrawide module last year but now we have it speaking of the camera i believe this is the exact same camera system as on the pixel 4 the main module and also as on the pixel 3 so i don't think google has actually upgraded the main module and speaking of that you guys remember the pixel visual core the image processing chip that they've used inside almost all their pixel phones i think from the second one or third one they haven't mentioned anything about this in terms of the pixel five so it is likely that i've actually removed the pixel visual core we have eight gigabytes of ram up from six gigabytes on the pixel four so that's a really nice upgrade um we have 4k 60 video finally apple has had it since 2017 and we finally have it on a pixel phone for some reason even though the processor actually supported 4k 60 it was disabled in all the previous pixel phones we also get something new which is reverse wireless charging so we still have wireless charging but we also get reverse oil charging which means now you can charge your headphones from the back of the pixel how cool is that something interesting is that this phone the pixel 5 actually comes with an aluminium or aluminum back but the thing is wireless charging cannot actually work through aluminum like there's no other phone on the market that has an aluminium back and also early charging because it just doesn't work it needs to be plastic or glass otherwise um it wouldn't it wouldn't charge so i'm thinking that maybe google has like a very thin uh cutouts so the the back of the phone is actually thinner where that charging coil is that's that's what i'm thinking but we'll have to wait and see uh when it comes to those tear downs probably jerry rig everything will be doing one fairly soon hopefully and then uh we'll see exactly how it works okay so what downgrades do we actually get from the pixel 4 and what upgrades do we get well in terms of downgrades it's pretty much just the cpu so the cpu is weaker i would say probably from the back i was a big fan of the back on the pixel 4 so no more frosted glass so i would say that's probably a downside in terms of upgrades we get a larger battery we get a reverse early charging we get a better design we get a larger display and also lower price speaking of the price this pixel costs seven hundred dollars in the us or 600 pounds in the uk so i think that's a hundred dollars and a hundred pounds less than what the pixel 4 cost at launch so that's pretty good and now we also got another phone the pixel 4a 5g which i would have called this phone the pixel 5 lite because it's it's pretty much a pixel 5 light so it looks almost the same as the pixel 5 does the display is actually bigger interesting enough it has a 6.2 inch display compared to the 6-inch display on the pixel 5 it doesn't really make sense but anyways the display is larger on the pixel 485 g um it is also only a 60hz display so now 90hz like on the pixel 5 we get 6 gigabytes of ram um down from 8. so this is actually the same amount as on the pixel 4. so i think that's still good the battery is a bit smaller so 3 85 million powers on the pixel 485 g compared to 4080 on the pixel 5. there's no wireless charging there's no reverse wireless charging and the back is made out of plastic compared to aluminium on the pixel 5. there's also no water resistance by the way but there is a headphone jack the pixel 45g costs 500 or 500 pounds in the uk so the real question is should you buy the pixel 5 or should you buy the pixel 4a 5g now i i think really the biggest difference between all these pixels the 4a the 485g and the 5 is really the display size do you want a smaller a more portable phone like the 4a or do you want something that's a bit bigger like the five or the four a5g so they come with a 5.8 inch uh 6 inch and 6.2 inch display or in that the cameras the main camera is literally the same um yeah that's pretty much it the pixel 5 higher refrigerate display but other than that you know you get ultra wide on the 485 g and the pixel 5 but yeah i would say honestly look at the display the display size and literally decide based on that now as you probably know every single week on drunk news we do a giveaway so last week we gave away a pair of huawei's free buds pro headphones and this is the winner so congratulations and this week we're doing a giveaway of something quite a bit different but very very useful so this is the logitech mx anywhere 3 mouse so i'm a big fan of the logitech mx master series and this is basically a smaller and a more portable version of that that works on windows mac basically anything a smartphone if you want to use a mouse on your smartphone so um but anyways what's really cool about this mouse is that it's very very accurate so it works on glass as well um and the battery life is just nuts on this very comfortable very um also you can charge it by usb type-c so if you want to win this simply be a subscriber of the channel and then also follow on twitter of tech and then simply leave a comment on this video down below saying why do you want to win and make sure you leave your twitter handle so that we can check that you're a follower and the winner will be announced well next week in next week's episode of zomtech news now aside from this google so google actually had a full-on event it wasn't just a pixel 5 and the 4a that got announced so the other interesting product was the google tv well technically it's called the google chromecast the brand new chromecast with google tv so this thing costs 50 now which is actually more than the previous chromecast which was 30 however it is actually less than the 70 chromecast ultra and this one also does 4k so 4k60 it comes with a remote which is really cool so you can actually control it properly before it was it was a pain it was basically just forecasting from your phone you couldn't actually control it and speaking of this new interface i'm a big big fan of this so it kind of looks like netflix or even the apple tv interface very very similar but you only have one page and you have everything you need there so it's very minimalist which i do like so big fan of this if you want to buy one actually i don't think you can just yet yeah i don't think you can buy one but yeah check out the links in description because you might be able to next up microsoft has randomly launched a brand new surface laptop so do you guys remember the surface go you know the tiny tiny weak tablet that microsoft had well this is essentially a laptop version of that so this surface laptop go is microsoft's most affordable laptop so it costs 550 dollars it comes with a fairly small 12.4 inch display with a 3x2 aspect ratio so it's actually a bit taller than your usual 16x9 uh the resolution is fairly poor so it's 1536 by 1024 so it's higher than 720p but less than 1080p but it only weighs 1.1 kilograms so that's actually a bit more than a 12-inch macbook now cp-wise we get a 10-generation i5 i believe y-series chip so it's you know not the most powerful laptop on the planet obviously it comes with 40 gigabytes of ram and 64 gigabytes of storage which is pretty slow now you have a fingerprint reader uh next to the uh the power button which is quite nice now to be honest this is the configuration that i would go for so 120 gigabytes of ssd storage and eight gigabytes of ram but this one costs seven hundred dollars so it's quite a bit more expensive and then finally we have water on mars like for real once again so if you've actually seen the very first episode of zone of tech news i think it was the first or one of the first there we go this one right here um this was when i've actually talked about water being discovered on mars for the first time so that was back in 2018 guys there we go two years ago that's when we started this series um and yeah essentially what happened is that they found a massive lake like frozen lake uh underneath the south pole of of mars south pole of mars but um yeah so that's what happened that was in 2018. now in 2020 they've just confirmed that so that's now confirmed there is a frozen lake uh underneath the south pole and then they've also found two more lakes fairly close to that so now we have three confirmed lakes um on mars underneath the surface which is pretty interesting like there's a lot of theories as to what actually happened to mars because obviously at some point mars was very close to how earth is now as you know actual um vegetation likely and full of water and rivers so that's that's proven at least the water bit so yeah there's a lot of theories as to what exactly happens so let me know in the comments what do you guys think actually happened in terms of mars maybe there was this advanced civilization that um was just very aggressive and maybe they nuked each other maybe they were called humans who knows that's actually one of the theories um that we were initially based on mars and then uh we destroyed the planet and then we moved to earth and everything got uh well we lost all the knowledge um anyway so let me know the comments what do you guys think about all of this not just this topic but everything that i covered in this episode of something news i'm daniel this has been zero tech and i'll see you guys in the next one it's enough tech signing out cheers youwelcome back to zone of tech news episode number four this time of you know the whole rebrand so in this week
