Testing the Nintendo Switch with an iPhone Adapter: What Happens When You Connect Them?
ID help here and today I picked up one of these, the Nintendo switch was released today and I picked it up yet to try it out and see what's new with Nintendo. However, this is not an unboxing video; this I got this to test what would happen if I connect a Nintendo switch to an iPhone using this adapter. Now, what sparked this video was that recently was discovered that if you plug a Nintendo switch to a MacBook Pro, a new Macbook Pro, the Nintendo switch charges the MacBook Pro not the other way around, which is kind of funny.
So, I wanted to see what happens when you connect Nintendo switch to an iPhone or an iPad. Let's go ahead and set everything else aside, okay? So, there it is booting up; let me go and set this up; I'll be right back. I went and grabbed all these devices to connect to the Nintendo switch, and here's the cable that I had laying around USBC to USB-A. We're going to connect that to the bottom of the switch; now we're going to go ahead and connect this to the bottom of the iPhone using the adapter.
This adapter is used for digital cameras to transfer media like photos and videos, so let's connect this to iPhone 7, see what happens. So, it says here accessory unavailable; the attached accessory uses too much power, so it's trying to draw power from the iPhone to supply to the switch, which in the MacBook Pro is different. It sends the power to the Mac instead of the Mac sending the power to the switch, so that's iPhone 7.
Let's try 7 plus on iOS 10.3, because that's running iOS 10.1; let's go and try this one. Alright, so the same results, we got something up here. It attempted to charge; I saw there; let me go and try to get that to happen again, plug it in, it attempts to charge, hopefully that comes up, yep, see that. But then it kicks out accessory unsupported; draws too much power, so it's drawing power from the iPhone and it's not going through of course.
So, what happens if we try Seri remote, can we control it or what happens here? I know to pair the remote you have to press home and volume up for a few seconds; let's see if that does anything. Okay, so it looks like nothing at all happens when you attempt to connect the Seri remote and try to pair it; no Bluetooth options, nothing comes up. Let's remove that; let's try the iPad, and then we'll try the apple pencil, which is one of the things I want to try the most because what if it activates the touchscreen? We'll see about that.
Maybe iPad will draw power from it like the MacBook Pro did nope; same thing, it's drawing power from the iPad to the switch but it cannot charge it either. So, it's not providing power, it's actually asking for power. Last but not least, let's go ahead and see what happens with the apple pencil, which was one of the curiosities that I had when I bought this.
Let's go ahead and see what happens here; anything at all? It doesn't look like anything at all happens when you use the apple pencil, and as expected, obviously, this is Nintendo and an Apple product they're not the same. But I was curious and there you guys have it that is what happens when you connect an iPad, an iPhone, a CR remote, or an apple pencil to a Nintendo switch.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video; it was a little bit different but I thought I'd share it with you guys. I was a bit curious to see what would happen. Thanks for watching!
