This Week's Awesome Crowdfunding Projects: A Look at the Latest and Greatest
Welcome to Awesome Tech You Can't Buy Yet, a weekly show where we bring you the five best crowdfunding projects that have recently landed on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo. In this episode, we're excited to share with you some of the most innovative and exciting projects that are currently making waves in the tech world.
First Up: The Thai Hegemony Portable HD Monitor
We kick off our list with the Thai Hegemony portable HD monitor. This device is definitely not the first of its kind, but it has some features that set it apart from others on the market. For starters, it's a 15.6-inch diagonal monitor, making it a great size for those who want to work or watch content on the go without having to carry around a full-sized laptop. But what really sets it apart is its touchscreen feature, which means you can use your fingers to navigate and interact with the screen instead of relying on a mouse or other input device.
One of the standout features of this monitor is its built-in battery, which allows it to power itself without draining the battery from your laptop. This makes it perfect for those who want to work remotely or on-the-go without having to worry about their devices running out of juice. And with two different versions available – a 1080p version that's priced at around $220 and a 4K version that costs $300 – there's something for everyone in this lineup. Both models are expected to ship in May of this year, so be sure to keep an eye on the Kickstarter page if you're interested in getting your hands on one.
Next Up: The High Five Charging Cable
The High Five charging cable is another project that's caught our attention. What makes it stand out is its compact form factor, which allows it to fit neatly on a keychain or in a pocket without taking up too much space. But don't let its size fool you – this cable has all the right connections, including regular USB-A, USB-C, micro-USB, and Lightning ports for iPhone users.
One of the standout features of this charging cable is its versatility. With so many different types of devices on the market, it's easy to find a charger that doesn't quite fit. But with the High Five, you can plug in pretty much any device and connect it to another without having to worry about compatibility issues. And at just $16, this charging cable is an absolute steal. You can back this project on Kickstarter right now, and they expect to ship it in May of this year.
UV Glow: The Ultra-Compact UV Sterilizer Device
The next project we're looking at is the UV glow, an ultra-compact UV sterilizer device that's perfect for those who want to keep their devices clean without having to deal with messy cleaning solutions or complicated setup processes. This thing is simple – just plug it into your phone and wave it over whatever you want to sterilize – and it gets the job done.
The science behind this device is pretty straightforward: by blasting UV light at a surface, you can disrupt the cell walls of bacteria and germs, rendering them incapable of reproducing. It's particularly useful for things like keyboards and mice that are hard to clean or aren't easy to sterilize in the first place. And with a price tag of just $15, this device is an absolute bargain. You can back it on Kickstarter right now, and they expect to ship it in March of this year.
Crazy Cap: The UV Sterilizer Water Bottle Cap
Speaking of UV sterilization devices, we also want to take a look at the Crazy Cap, which is essentially the same concept as the UV glow but built into the cap of an insulated water bottle. This thing is designed specifically for those who love insulated water bottles and don't want to have to worry about their hydration equipment getting funky tastes or bacterial contamination.
The idea behind this device is simple: once you put it on your water bottle and turn it on, it blasts the inside with UV light that sterilizes everything. It's a great way to keep your water bottle clean without having to deal with complicated cleaning processes or messy solutions. And at $20, this cap is an affordable option for anyone who wants to stay hydrated in style. You can back this project on Kickstarter right now, and they expect to ship it in March of this year.
That's all for this week's awesome crowdfunding projects – we hope you enjoyed them! Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more updates on the latest and greatest tech projects making waves on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everybody welcome to awesome tech you can't buy yet a weekly show or I bring you the five of best crowdfunding projects that have recently landed on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo first up this week we have the Thai hegemony which is a portable HD monitor it is definitely not the first one of these things that we have ever seen before I'm pretty certain you can actually buy them already but this one has a few features that most of the other ones that you can currently buy don't first of all it is a 15.6 inch diagonal monitor so it's a pretty good size but it's also about the size of a normal laptop so it'll fit easily in your backpack it also has a touchscreen so you don't have to use a mouse or connect any sort of input device to it best of all it also has its own built-in battery so it doesn't have to drain the battery from your laptop in order to power itself this thing comes in two different flavors you can either get the 1080p version that has a touchscreen that that goes for about 220 bucks on Kickstarter right now or you can dish out 300 bucks and get the 4k version in either case those are gonna ship in May of this year next up we have the high five which is a five and one charging cable so this thing comes with a regular USB a connection it also has a USB C and micro USB and a lightning cable for iPhone users it also has a micro USB output and a USB C output so pretty much you can use this to connect any device to any other device all of that and somehow it is still in a little compact form factor that fits neatly on a keychain so wherever you go you can rest assured that you have proper charging cable it's also not terribly expensive you can get one on Kickstarter right now for about 16 bucks and they expect to ship it in May of this year next up we have the UV glow which is an ultra compact a UV sterilizer device the idea behind this thing is pretty straightforward it's like every other UV sterilizer you've ever seen except instead of having its own batteries you actually just plug this one into the bottom of your phone and then you can wave it like a wand over whatever you want to sterilize the science is that by blasting whatever surface it is with UVC light that light actually just disrupts whatever germs or bacteria cell walls and scrambles their DNA and renders them incapable of reproducing it's particularly useful for things that you use often but aren't really easy to wash or sterilize like keyboards and mice and doorknobs and stuff like that this thing is currently going for about 15 bucks on Kickstarter right now and they expect to ship it in March next up we have the crazy cap which much like the previous item in this list is a UV sterilization device the only difference is that this one instead of being all-purpose device is built directly into the cap of a water bottle not just any cap so it's designed specifically to work with those insulated water bottles that have popped up everywhere lately these ones these little caps right here the idea is that once you put this on your water bottle and fire it up it just blasts the inside with that UVC light that sterilizes everything so your water bottle doesn't take on any funky tastes over time if you back the Kickstarter right now in the early stages you can lock one down for about 38 bucks after that it goes up to about 49 somewhere around that but regardless of how much it costs they expect to ship it in March of this year last but not least we have the red key USB which is a data wiping USB stick so unlike normal USB sticks that are designed to store stuff this is designed to plug into your computer and wipe all of the stuff that is on it so one thing that you might not realize is that when you delete something from your computer you're not actually like deleting it from your hard drive all that says is that that space is free to be written over next time you want to save something that means that if you don't actually write something over the top of it and then sell your computer somebody could actually recover that data and if it's sensitive information that's not a good thing so instead of just wiping your data what the red key USB does is this thing called the zero fill so it writes your hard drive with a bunch of zeros so binary code just a bunch of zeros which makes it way harder to recover any of the data that was previously stored on it this is actually the second generation of the red key and apparently in this new generation it also has a new cryptographic wipe tool which I don't completely understand but apparently it is extremely secure this thing is going for 43 bucks on Kickstarter right now and they expect to ship it in July of this year that does it for this week but be sure to tune in again next week and I will bring you five more awesome crowdfunding projects you probably wouldn't have seen otherwise thanks for watching
