Audi R8 V10 v Ducati 1199 Panigale R _ evo BATTLE

**The Thrill of Track Battle: Cars vs Bikes**

As I stood at the starting line, adrenaline coursing through my veins, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. This was it, the moment I had been training for - a head-to-head battle between cars and bikes, with me behind the wheel of a Ducati Panigale R. My opponent, Neil, was determined to prove that his car could beat my bike in this iconic track, Blighton Park.

**The Track: A Technical Challenge**

Blighton Park is a technical little track that demands respect from even the most seasoned riders and drivers. With its narrow confines and gravel-lined edges, it's a track that requires precision and finesse to navigate. As I climbed onto my bike, I could feel the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. This was a test of skill, speed, and strategy - and I wasn't going to hold back.

**The Bike: A Handful Around the Track**

I'd always loved motorcycles, but there's something special about riding around Blighton Park. The bike is a handful, with its 200 horsepower V-twin motor breathing down my neck as I push it to its limits. But that's what makes it so exhilarating - every corner, every turn, requires me to be fully engaged and in control. I knew I had to respect the track, but also respect the bike's potential.

**The Acceleration: A Key Advantage**

One of the areas where my bike has an advantage is on acceleration. With a long straightaway that stretches out for miles, I was able to unleash the full fury of the Panigale R and reach speeds of just short of 1170 mph. That's fast - much faster than any car could hope to match. But it's not just about raw speed; it's also about finding the right balance between power and control.

**Respecting the Track**

As I made my way around the track, I was acutely aware of the need to respect the surface. The gravel-lined edges are a constant threat, and if I run wide or lose traction, I could be in trouble fast. So I took a cautious approach, feeling my way through each corner and avoiding any mistakes that might cost me time.

**The Final Showdown**

As I crossed the finish line, I knew I'd given it everything I had. The car may have been faster on acceleration, but I'd managed to eke out a victory in the technical corners of Blighton Park. And as I looked back at my lap times, I could see that I'd done something truly remarkable - beating Neil's car time by a significant margin.

**The Verdict: Bike Wins Out**

In the end, it was the sheer grunt and power of the Ducati Panigale R that won out over the Audi R8. Despite its superior acceleration on the straights, the bike had managed to match the car's pace in every corner - and then some. It was a truly epic battle, one that would go down in history as one of the greatest cars vs bikes showdowns of all time.

**The Motorbike Takes the Win**

I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment as I looked at my bike, its 1013.6-lap time a testament to its speed and agility around Blighton Park. It may not have been easy - far from it - but in the end, the motorbike had come out on top. And that was all thanks to its incredible power-to-weight ratio and razor-sharp handling.

**A Thrilling Conclusion**

As I walked away from the track, my heart still racing from the excitement of it all, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for Neil and his Audi R8. It's clear that he's one of the best drivers in the business - and I'm honored to have shared the track with him today.

**The Future of Cars vs Bikes**

As I look to the future, I know that this battle won't be the last between cars and bikes. There will always be a debate about which is faster, more agile, or just plain cooler. But one thing's for sure - I'm hooked on this thrill-a-minute world of track battles, where anything can happen and the outcome is never certain.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enokay guys thanks for logging on to another track battle here with EVO TV we've got super bike versus super car and we've got two world champions we've got Neil Hodson here World Super Bike champion and we've got Dean stowman Formula 2 world champion and current gp3 driver for marusia let's see how we get on this is Evo's very own long-term test Audi R8 V10 plus the car that has appeared in Evo's fast Fleet in mag and app during 2014 it will do 198 mph Flatout and N to 60 in around 3.8 seconds it has Quattro four-wheel drive a manual six-speed gearbox and of course that whaling 542 brake horsepower V10 engine there are no turbos or hybrid packs here just a 5.2 l naturally aspirated Gem of an engine okay Dean over to you tell me we your first impressions of this uh this Audi R8 and this track actually yeah it's the first time I've been to this track it's uh quite technical little track um here in the Audi R8 with a lot of power behind us it's uh it's a great car but at the moment it's uh it's quite hard to get the road tires working on the track you know you're one of the hot talents in single cater racing at the moment you've had a year in Porsche Porsche car cup as well um have you ever you ever driven a manual race car before no I've never driven a manual race car and uh it's quite uh it's quite a experience change to start driving a uh a road car on the RAC track in a manual form even on the on the road I don't drive a manual car any racing drivers You' out to heal and toe it should be just a natural progression for your formulas so what's the key to fast driving whether you're whether you're a race driver in a single seat or whether you're a superc car driver what what are the keys to getting a quick lap it's all about being smooth really there's no point going 150 mph breaking as late as possible it's about keeping the minimum speeds up throughout the corners um and to keep it nice and flowing really but any anyone can break late anyone can get on the gas early but it's it's not good for the tires or or the brakes does this actually feel fast to you feels f it doesn't feel quick to me know but it's just it's quite a handful for a big car yeah especially on this uh track we're on today it's quite Technical and it's quite the car Chang the direction is very positive on the FR but on the power got quite a lot of under steer as the rear wheels are trying to push the front on as you can hear we're up to 8 and half th000 at the moment 150 mph and we got the the Carbonic brakes are amazing on this car so we've dropped a fair bit of pressure out of these tires haven't we because we were we were struggling earlier W yeah earlier on we had done some laps but I found bleeding the pressure out the tires just helped it a little bit just got a few more laps out the tires and uh as you can see the tires are getting nice and warm we're getting some four-wheel drifting going on I think have be a tough one to see if this car's faster than the jatti looking the way that Neil was riding the bike today I think it's going to be it's quite hard for this sort of car to be as quick as that on a track like this but the change of Direction on the Audi is very good it's probably time we set that fast lap then into the tricky first Corner Dean breaks from 95 mph down to 55 mph then modulates the throttle through the chicane and into the long left-hander onto the main straight the R8 gets exceptional traction through here and we'll need to if it wants to match the de catti's top speed at the end of the straight at 141.020 Peak speed Dean hits the brakes hard and sheds 85 mph he expects the ducatti to pull a higher top speed but he's hoping to break much later then it's 56 mph Apex speed through the left-hander back up to 90 mph then down to 50 mph for the long left-hander before back on the gas hard with the wickedly tricky highspeed right left right here the R8 never drops below 90 mph a very impressive effort from Dean the final two corners are taken at 49 mph and 39 mph respectively with Dean driving through a snatch of over steer on the exit of the final corner it's a great lap but can it beat a mighty ducatti Neil hodson's 1199 ducatti panagar R has a rather weedy 1.2 L engine in car terms at least however this is no ordinary Engine with 192 brake horsepower it is the most powerful production twin cylinder engine in the world not only that but the dati only has to pull 164 kg against the Audi's 1,00 570 kg in terms of power to weight the daati murders the Audi with an incredible 1,190 BHP per ton against the Audi's 351 trick oan suspension and Brembo brakes complete the ducatti spec well it's hard to believe two weeks ago I rode around the famous Indianapolis Speedway one week ago I was in the Czech Republic riding around the amazing bro circuit and thanks to the Evo guys look at me now here I am around blighton Park in the heart of Lincolnshire actually it's quite a good little circuit let's see what it's all about it opens up really nicely 80 mph 90 100 110 120 30 40 50 mph we 5 160 mph on the back straight hard on the brakes all the way down second got to break really hard into the Apex knee on the ground hard on the fall out here W that so physical the bike just wants to wheelie out of your hands found this long double Apex cor got to be careful on the side of the tire not to be too aggressive with that throttle now this is the fast bait the fastest at the back of the track got to commit yourself a lot and then H the F hard on the brakes the back again slides around into this last Corner the tricky right hand corner like I said there's only one right hand corner on this track so you've got to be careful right so here we go there's my flying lap of blind p on the S finish St third gear hard on the brakes into turn one quite a long e Corner got to be careful just really tricky little really physical a lot of work there through my legs B SL nicely right look at the 30 mph 4 50 60 170 m hour down the back straight hard on the brakes all the way into the corner n Alex get the back slided this is a tricky section it's a double Apex have not missed the corner why the Apex is all the way back here hear me breathing it's really physical this little track really physical there's no rest through the fast bit at the back of the straight and in towards the last corner I'm definitely on a good lap I hope I beat this car also I won't leave it down with my mates a bit wide there so that's not cost me too much time into the last Corner let's cut the corner cut it nicely hold on the power one more time guys I hope I beat the car superb yeah it'd be really interesting to find out whether the motorbike was faster or the car but I give it all I could I put the best lap in that I could but it's going to be difficult seeing the motor bike down the streets the speed it was carrying was Unreal but hopefully I give it the best I could and we find out what the lap time was honestly I have had so much fun today there's been a bit of pressure involved though I mean it's you know this is this is the old argument it's cars versus bikes and blighton park I've got to say I've never ridden around it before it's a technical little track it's difficult it's really really narrow and one of the things on a motorcycle that's quite difficult is the edge of the track there's a little bit of graveling some some places so if you run wide for example you're in trouble so I had to respect that but it was a tough challenge I think this bike suits all tracks because I mean it's got a lot of grunt a lot of bottom end um it's a handful round here because you've just sh a 200 brake horse power you know and these these bikes want to they want to breathe they want that you to be able to just open them up I mean but the beauty of this track is it's got a it's got a lovely long bik straight so you know I got up to speeds of just short of 1 170 mph so not hanging about I think I time around this track um on the acceleration you know there's a few slow corners and this thing just it's got so much power and uh got had new tires on so i' got quite a lot of grip as well and it's interesting going back around the track you can see the black rubber that I've laid down you know cuz I'm the only one riding round and you know I think punching between the corners is where my advantage and that probably that little bit of top speed at the end of the straight I think the car can possibly cut the inside of some of the corners and afford to run out wide so I think the car's got an advantage there but definitely acceleration and top speed you know I've got a lot of pressure I'm going to let a lot of people down if I'm not fast as today so honestly I've really enjoyed it but I was a bit nervous before we started and and I can honestly say this I couldn't have gone any faster I was pretty close to the edge well Neil you took it to the edge and yes you were faster than the car despite some worldclass driving by Dean stowman Hon's de caty super bike beats the Audi super car if you break the lap down into the bike hit a higher speed into turn one 107 mph versus 95 mph for the Audi Apex speed was similar at turn one with the Audi at 55 mph against the ducatti 53 mph but onto the straight the panagar gained a huge Advantage by accelerating to a Vmax of 164 mph against the Audi's 141 however the Audi needed just 250 M to break into the tricky left-hander at the end of the straight with a ducatti needing another 25 mters albeit from a higher top speed the next two corners were even in terms of Apex speed and braking distance but the Audi carried 8 mph more speed through the fast s's at the end of the lap the Audi nailed the tricky right-hander of 49 mph versus the daa's 41 mph NE was perhaps a tad more cautious on the cold right side of the tire but on the final Corner both hit 40 mph at the Apex Over The Line the Audi nailed a 103.4 just over 2 seconds slower than the Ducati with a 10136 surprisingly perhaps the motorbike all but matched the CF Apex speed despite a smaller rubber footprint as expected though the Audi R8 breaked harder and had shorter stopping distances but it was the sheer outright grunt of that thunderus v twin and the quite epic power to weight ratio that won the day for ducatti so in this car versus bike track battle after two defeats by The Cars the motorbike finally wins click the videos on screen to watch more of Evo's epic track battles and don't forget to subscribe to
