The Floor is a Little Bit Wet But That's It: An Exclusive Look at Narwal's CES 2024 Lineup
As we walked into the Narwal booth, it was clear that there was no mess to speak of. The floor was spotless, and the only indication of a previous cleanup attempt was a faint scent of cleaning solution lingering in the air. VJ, the vice president of Narwal, greeted us warmly and began to walk us through their impressive CES 2024 lineup.
Narwal's Journey to Success
Narwal is a company that has rapidly become the leading player in the floor cleaner industry over the past few years. With only one product initially, they have managed to reach staggering sales figures of over $200 million USD in just two years. This success can be attributed to their focus on customer understanding and needs. Narwal's customers are not just a number to them; they are individuals with unique requirements that need to be met.
VJ explained that after conducting extensive customer research, Narwal identified key differences between their customers' needs. These insights were used to inform the development of their products, resulting in a significant difference from their competitors. Narwal's commitment to customer understanding has enabled them to create innovative solutions that cater to specific pain points.
A Focus on Innovation
Narwal's R&D team is comprised of over 1,000 employees, many of whom are experts from top companies like Apple, Tesla, DJI, and Dyson. This talented group of individuals works tirelessly to build a strong foundation for innovation and accelerate the speed at which new products are developed. Narwal's emphasis on research and development has paid off, resulting in cutting-edge technology that sets them apart from their competitors.
The Freo X Ultra: Narwal's Flagship Product
At the heart of Narwal's CES 2024 lineup is the Freo X Ultra, their flagship product. This powerful vacuum boasts advanced technologies such as conical spinning and dust compression. The conical spinning brush takes hair and debris to the end of the vacuum, eliminating the need for scissors or manual removal. Additionally, the Freo X Ultra features obstacle avoidance sensors that enable it to trim closely around furniture legs and other obstacles.
The smaller, more affordable version of the Freo X Ultra is the Freo X Plus. While it shares many of the same features as its larger counterpart, it lacks the base station feature that enables automatic mop washing. This makes it an attractive option for those who want a powerful vacuum without the added expense.
The S10 Pro: A Versatile Vacuum for All Messes
Lastly, there is the S10 Pro, a stickback-style vacuum that can handle both wet and dry messes with ease. From oozing orange juice to sticky spills, this versatile vacuum has it all covered. With its advanced technology and powerful design, the S10 Pro is an exciting addition to Narwal's lineup.
Conclusion
As we concluded our tour of Narwal's CES 2024 booth, it was clear that the company is committed to innovation and customer satisfaction. From their flagship product, the Freo X Ultra, to their smaller but equally impressive offerings, Narwal has demonstrated a clear understanding of what consumers need from their floor cleaners. With a strong focus on R&D and a talented team of experts, Narwal is well-positioned for continued success in the industry.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enHey this is Nick with Digital Trends I'm here at CES 2024 with Narwal which is a company I'm personally very excited to check out that's cuz I've had the opportunity to review some of their last generation robot mops and vacuums and they're pretty great already but they have some pretty great inovations to the show that I also really want to checkout all right so this is the Freo X Ultra which is the big Flagship that they're showing off at the show three big things about this that I'm very excited about are there's a tangle-free brush that takes hair and actually sweeps it off to the side so it doesn't get stuck in it it also has a dust compression system which makes it so that your dust is compressed after it vacuums you don't have to empty it into a separate bag it gives you 7 weeks of dust capacity and it's also up to three times as powerful as the lastunit they're also announcing the Freo X Plus at the show which is a more affordable smaller version of the Freo X Ultra the big thing that you're missing is the base station which does the automatic mop washing and some other functions so one of the coolest features I think they're introducing this year is the 0% tangling floating brush which looks a little bit different than the rollers that you're probably used to uh this red unit here is what most uh robot backs come with if you've used any of them you know what the problem with this is if you get hair in this it just gets wrapped around it you got to pull this thing out later you got to cut it out with scissors it's really gross it's nasty uh so what Narwal is introducing here is actually a conle brush and so you can see it's actually only held at one end There's an actual at one end here so as hair gets trapped you have all these bristles that are pushing it to towards the uh unconstrained end and you also have a a conical shaped roller so as hair gets pushed into here it's actually going to be pushed off to the side and pulled away by a vacuum and we'll show you what that looks like rightnow so another innovation for this year is self-contained dust processing which is a pretty cool way of dealing with the buildup of dirt that you get when you're running a robovac every day in your house so a lot of other competitors have done this by putting a vacuum in a base and that basically sucks all of the dust out of the robot into a into a bag problem with that is sometimes it starts to smell it's also really loud so the way that Narwal has handled this is actually using a vacuum that compresses the dust in the robot itself um so this is only a 1liter capacity but after you compress it you basically double that and they say it should be good for up to 7 weeks of vum in without having to replace the bag so the final demo I wanted to show you is for a technology called dirt sense which is actually not new for CES this year but it was one of my favorite things about the Narwal vacuum that I actually reviewed that's because when your Narwal actually mops the floors it's constantly sensing the dirt level of the water and if your floors aren't clean it keeps going back until they are I have a really disgusting dog at home and around his water bowl gets really really gross and the Narwal just keeps going back and this is a great demonstration of how it actually does does that so when the Narwal cleans its mops at the base station it's actually always monitoring how dirty the mop water is so we're going to actually be able to test that here by pouring some dirty water into this contraption and it's going to show us on the monitor just how gross it is all right so to test this we have water coffee and cocoa milk which are going to give you an idea of sort of the different levels of dirt that might come out of the mop of the Narwal so let's start withwater pretty low we got a three on that switch over to coffee here coffee gives us a 37 on the soil level meter and then uh let's finally do the uh the cocoa milkhere 100 maxed it out so the sensing in the Narwal Freo X Ultra has been upgraded as well so we have three lasers this year we have the lar sensor up top which is the same that we had last year we also have an upgraded sensor in the front and another one on the side here and what that allows the robot to do is to actually get really close to obstacles and kind of trim around them do this little pirouette move that we'll see in a moment and so if you've got dirt at the base of a table leg or something like that it's actually getting really close and trying to suck that all up all right so Narwal had one more surprise in store for CES 2024 and that is the S10 Pro wet dry vacuum which the name really made me think of a shop back but it's actually quite different than that it's more like a stick vacuum that also does wet messes and so if you look down at the bottom you can see what almost looks like a paint roller in front there that actually acts as uh as a mop it gets wet and it spins and it cleans up both wet and dry messes and this vacuum actually separates those messes into wet and dry compartments on theback so they they went all out for us and really set up a very impressive mess here uh this is more than you'd ever find in my house cuz I have a dog that would eat all of this right now but uh let's give this a shot we got this thing going as I lean forward it kind of drags itself it's almost like a self-propelling lawn mower and that's really impressive that it just it leaves nothing in its wake the floor is a little bit wet but that's it that's the only reason you can tell there ever was a mess all right so we have this thing flipped around we're taking a look at the tank now um and hopefully you can see through the acrylic here but it actually separates we have our solids up here and the liquids are in the bottom let's take this thing off and see what we kept off the floor here pull this thing out and there's the solids it's nice we got our uh I think some cornflakes we even got some hair in there I don't think we were trying to get hair but it sucked it up uh so that looks pretty gross but uh the floors look amazing well I'm here with VJ who is the vice president of Narwal first of all VJ congrats on all the uh announcements in CES this year yes thank you so much and we're come to here thank you uh so Narwal is a company that I feel like a lot of American consumers are still starting to learn about can you tell us a little bit more about where you guys came from yeah of course so uh now we have rapidly become the leading player in the industry in like gloral home cleaner industry in during the past few years and uh it's crazy that we just uh with only one product with two years we reached more than 2 million USD do 200 million USD dollars in sales and right now we are top five players in these specific areas around all around the world and globally we serve more than 2 million families and with 1 million units annual production of capacity so obviously Robot vacuum is a very crowded space we actually just had a visit from a competitive CEO um in that such a crowded space I have to ask what is Narwal doing differently to stand out the first one is also something about our customers understanding to have the clearer the better the deeper customers understanding about their needs so there are significant differences between two like customer focus group or the customer panels uh after you trly understand understanding it you can like find uh what is the real important things to do and the next one is to after you're figuring out what you should do you need to build strong enough power to do that so that is why more and half of our over 1,000 employees are in R&D sections and many of them are from the top the great R&D houses like the Apple Tesla DJI and or you can say uh Dyson and they help us to build a strong foundation and also accelerate the speed of innovation well VJ thank you so much for having us yes thank you all right so that's been Narwal from CES 2024 I know there's a lot of products so I'll I'll run through them again the Freo X Ultra is the Big Daddy Flagship it's got all the new technologies including the conical spinning spinning brush that takes the hair and shuttles it to the end so you don't have to cut it out of there with scissors you've got the dust compression so you don't have to actually empty the vacuum after every run and you also have the additional uh obstacle avoidance sensors so that it will trim very closely around obstacles like table legs of course there's also the Freo X Plus which is the smaller more affordable version of that which does a lot of the same things but it doesn't have the base station so it doesn't do the automatic mop washing and then of course there's the S10 Pro which is kind of like a stickback that actually handles both wet and dry messes including opal orange juice you name it it'll suck it up so it's an exciting lineup I hope you follow along with digital trends.com for the rest of the show\n"
