What's new in iOS 10.3

iOS 10.3: A New Era of Entertainment and Communication

The latest version of iOS brings about several exciting features that enhance the entertainment and communication experience on your device. Navigation is now defaulted to the stock Maps app, but carplay has also gained the ability to navigate to a full album by simply tapping the album link while listening to a track. Once you do that, you can see the full list of all the tracks contained within that album and then play one of those tracks, and finally, you can access your up next playlist by tapping the up next button in the upper right-hand corner.

This feature allows you to skip directly to another track in the playlist in a non-contiguous manner, which is new. With this update, you can now give me the latest Indian Premier League scores or the latest ICC scores from between last Friday and last Sunday. This addition will definitely be appreciated by our friends in India. App Store reviews have also received a lot of love in iOS 10.3, with developers able to respond to reviews directly.

Now, you can actually determine whether or not a review is helpful so all you need to do is 3D touch on the review that you read and then select whether it was helpful, not helpful, or report a concern. This feature alleviates some of the friction involved with writing reviews, allowing you to just tap "Write Review" and submit a review without having to log in to provide your iTunes credentials.

Developers can also respond to reviews directly, and there's a new store kit that allows developers to prompt for reviews within their app. iOS 10.3 also brings about custom home screen app icons so developers can implement this feature within their app as has been done with the MLB app. You can switch the icon just like that to your favorite team and it's done, or you can switch back right within the app as well.

Find My AirPods: A Game-Changer for iPhone Users

One of the headlining features in iOS 10.3 is the presence of Find My AirPods inside the Find My iPhone app. This feature allows you to locate your AirPods on a map, and you can actually locate each individual Airpod. You can also make each individual Airpod emit a sound so you can find the one you're looking for.

For example, if you want to mute the left AirPod, you can do that now. Let's hear how it sounds when we mute the left AirPod in this example. This feature works a little differently than Find My iPhone but check out the full tutorial over at 95 Mac for all the details.

Analytics Sharing: Improving Products and Services

When you first install iOS 10.3, you'll be prompted to share your iPhone analytics with Apple. This is used to improve products and services like Siri, which relies on differential privacy to collect data without revealing individual identities. We've walked through exactly what that means over at 9 to 5 Mac, but basically it makes it so that your account can't be identified by the data collected.

Storage Upgrades: Apfs File System

iOS 10.3 also re-unlocks access to the new Classroom 2.0 app, which allows teachers to set up classes for students manually without having an MDM setup. You can go in here, add a teacher, set up a class, and then students that are nearby on your network can join your class with ease.

As we've already walked through with the Classroom app, this allows you to view your student screen for instance or launch particular apps on your student screen at the same time. If you have a course syllabus that you want the whole class to look at simultaneously, you can do it with the Press of a button.

Apple TV Remote App: Enhanced Features

The updated Apple TV remote app now has iPad support along with updated Now Playing features that allow you to view lyrics and also view your up next playlist. Some of these features do require iOS 10.3, so keep that in mind.

Overall, iOS 10.3 brings about several exciting new features that enhance the entertainment and communication experience on your device. Whether it's navigation, app reviews, or storage upgrades, there's something for everyone in this latest update. Let us know what you guys think Down Below in the comments section.
