Unreleased Gigabyte Motherboards - Z170X & X99 BW-E

Gigabyte's New Motherboard Lineup at PAX East 2016

Gigabyte has unveiled a new set of motherboards at PAX East 2016, featuring five different models that cater to various user needs. The lineup includes three x99 boards and two z170x boards, all of which are designed for gaming purposes. The x99 boards are part of the Ultra Durable series, while the z170x boards are also part of the same family.

The x99 boards in question include the GX99 Designer Ex, the X99 Phoenix SLI, and the X99 Ultra Gaming. Each of these boards has its own unique features and specifications, but they all share a common goal: to provide high-performance gaming capabilities for users. The GX99 Designer Ex is one of the two new Ultra Durable series boards introduced by Gigabyte, featuring amp-up audio and two onboard U.2 slots. This board also has five full-length PCIe slots, with the first, second, and fourth slots wired for 6Gbps and the third slot wired for 4Gbps.

The X99 Phoenix SLI is another x99 board from Gigabyte, part of the G1 Gaming series. Like the GX99 Designer Ex, it also features amp-up audio, but only has a single U.2 connector instead of two. This board is similar to the designer ex in some ways, but with a few key differences that set it apart. The X99 Ultra Gaming is the final x99 board from Gigabyte, also part of the G1 Gaming series. It has only a couple of small differences compared to its predecessors, including not having a wireless card in its e-key M.2 slot.

The two z170x boards from Gigabyte are the Z170x Designer and the Z170x Ultra Gaming. Both of these boards share many features with their x99 counterparts, but have some key differences due to their use of the z170x chipset. The Z170x Designer is an ultra durable series board that has amp-up audio and a single U.2 connector for SSDs. It also has a more simplified PCIe configuration compared to the x99 boards, with one 16Gbps slot, one 8Gbps slot, and one 4Gbps slot.

The Z170x Ultra Gaming is the final z170x board from Gigabyte, falling sensibly into the G1 gaming series. It does not have amp-up audio like its predecessor, but still offers high-performance capabilities for users. The addition of U.2 connectors provides more flexibility and options for users who want to upgrade their storage or use new devices that require faster interfaces.

The introduction of U.2 connectors by Gigabyte is a welcome move in the gaming motherboard market. These connectors provide faster speeds than traditional SATA III interfaces, making them ideal for applications like 4K video editing or fast data transfer. The fact that these connectors are becoming more common in motherboards is also a positive development, as it provides users with more options for upgrading their storage devices.

Intel's Optane is another new technology that has been introduced by Gigabyte, which can be used with the U.2 connector on some of their motherboards. This technology offers faster performance and lower latency compared to traditional hard drives, making it ideal for applications like gaming and video editing. The fact that Intel's Optane is becoming more widely available in motherboards is a positive development, as it provides users with more options for upgrading their storage devices.

Overall, Gigabyte's new motherboard lineup at PAX East 2016 offers high-performance capabilities for gamers and enthusiasts alike. With its range of x99 and z170x boards, each with unique features and specifications, Gigabyte has catered to various user needs and provided users with more options for upgrading their storage devices. The introduction of U.2 connectors and Intel's Optane technology further enhances the capabilities of these motherboards, making them ideal for applications like gaming and video editing.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: engigabyte has a set of five new motherboards shown here at PAX East 2016 including some x99 boards and preparation for the Broadwell e launch sort of a refresh and then some of the good old z170 boards now branded as z170x before we get to the specs on these boards and their target market price points and all that note that all this content from PS East 2016 is brought to you by cyber power who make the fanbook laptop that we recently overclocked past 4 GHz so so a couple things here the five boards in question there's three in the x99 setup and those are the x99 designer or designer ex as I'm going to call it the x99 Phoenix SLI x99 Ultra gaming and then there two from z170x chipset families and that is the z170x designer and z170x Ultra gaming part of gigabytes existing family for gaming motherboards the surprise here at paxis 2016 these are actually released right now they's still engineering samples so everything you see is unfinished and could change but the main item on all these boards or at least some of them is the U2 connector it effectively is a connector that provides the m.2 PCI speed and it's combined with the drive mounting flexibility of the old SATA drive so that gives you a couple of things but one of them is that you can have basically as many You2 drives as your motherboard has u.2 connectors the u.2 connector makes physical Drive location a lot easier because cuz the drives actually resemble more closely the 2.5 in SATA drives that we have now except the interface looks less like typical SATA and more like SAS gigabyte showed us a few boards with the u.2 connectors and the first is an x99 board the gx99 designer ex which IND introduces the designer label to the gigabyte family it is one of the two new Ultra durable series boards and it's got an amp up audio with two of the new new onboard u.2 slots and you can see those sort of near the SATA e ports over on the side of the board the x99 designer ex has five fulllength pcie slots the first second and fourth are wired for by6 the third slot is by four and the fifth is by 8 or X8 the ga x99 Phoenix SLI board is part of the G1 gaming series and that is one of the brands of gigabyte and this board is similar in some ways to the designer ex the x99 board previously it's got amp up audio as the previous board did it has a single .2 to connector not two of them but just one and it's in the same location as the previous board the final x99 board is the x99 ultra gaming and like the Phoenix it's also in the G1 gaming series it's got only a couple small differences that are really noteworthy and one is that the x99 ultra gaming doesn't have a wireless card in its e key to m.2 slot it's got that one it just doesn't include the card so you have to buy that separately the ga z170x designer is an ultra durable series board with many of the features we've already discussed and it has amp up audio it's got a single u.2 connector it has an M keyed m.2 slot for ssds pcie configuration is uh simpler it's more similar to z170 board it's got one by 16 slot 1x8 and 1x4 slots the final board is the z170x ultra gaming which Falls a bit more sensibly into the G1 gaming series it doesn't have the amp up audio so that is really all to know here from gigaby the addition of ud2 is welcome in a couple of ways but one of them is that the introduction new storage devices does provide some options for higher performance like with Intel's optane which is coming hopefully sometime this year so that is all for the gigabyte boards patreon link the postal
