My iOS Wallpaper - Tutorial

How to Set the Aurora Wallpaper on Your iPod Touch and iPhone

Hello YouTube, this is Detroit Borg, and in this video, I'd like to take a look at my wallpaper and the reason I want to look at this is because it's one of my most frequently asked questions I get, uh, asked how all the time. What is my wallpaper and how do I get it on my iPhone? Well, the wallpaper as many of you will recognize is the Aurora wallpaper from Snow Leopard or OS 10.6, which is the default wallpaper for all Macs. In order to keep all my devices uniform, I went ahead and made it the default wallpaper on all my devices. So, my iPod touch, my iPhones, my iPads, all my Macs, all have this as the wallpaper. This gives a nice uniform look, especially when all these devices are docked on my desk.

Now, telling them what the wallpaper is usually isn't enough. They usually have followup questions and it usually relates to how do you put the wallpaper onto the phone itself or iPod, and how do you size it properly? Because the file that they're given is for widescreen Max, while works just fine on iPads because iPads are widescreen, and the home screen rotates with an iPhone and an iPod Touch. They don't rotate, so everything is always in portrait mode, so the wallpapers have to be sized correctly. I'm going to take you through that entire process and just show you how it's done. So, in the future, every time I'm asked, I can just link you guys to this video.

The first thing we're going to do is bring out an iPod Touch fourth gen with the default wallpaper on, and you can see the lock screen and home screen have the same wallpaper. You can set them differently, but for this demo, I'm just going to make them uniform. So, the first thing you'll need to do is look in the description box of this video, and there is a link to my website with the file you'll need or the photo file you'll need to set the wallpaper.

To start, let's go to Safari and load the photo I uploaded. This is the Snow Leopard Aurora wallpaper, which is what we'll need. What we're going to do now is save this to the device. So, we'll just tap and hold, and we're given the option to save the image. Now that the image has been saved to our photo gallery, we should be able to go to our photo gallery right now to see it there under camera roll. There it is! It's a very high-res version, so it's very scalable, which is what we need.

Now that we have the image saved and are in our photo gallery, we can proceed to set the wallpaper on our device. To do this, we'll go to settings, under settings, and then to wallpaper. We're going to select wallpaper from the camera roll. Let's pick that first image. Now, what we're going to need to do now is zoom up so basically we're going to zoom up until we fill the screen. You can position it all you want; I think that looks good to me, so let's say set now.

We can now set the lock screen and set the home screen as both. And there you have it! The home screen and lock screen now have the Aurora wallpaper on them. Once again, guys, this is Detroit Borg showing you how to set the wallpaper on your iPod touch and iPhone.
