iOS 16.2 Beta 3 Released - What’s New

The latest iOS 16.2 beta has arrived, and with it, Apple has made some significant changes to improve performance and stability. One of the most notable features is the updated update rate for first-party apps, which means users can now expect more frequent updates. However, this feature is not available for third-party applications at present.

This new update rate is a significant improvement over previous betas, and it's likely that we'll see even better performance in future releases. Apple has also addressed some of the bugs that were present in earlier betas, including the stuttering issue on the lock screen and home screen. This stuttering issue was a major problem for many users, but it seems to be fixed now.

In addition to these changes, the latest beta 3 includes several other minor features and improvements. For example, Apple has improved performance on the iPad with Stage manager, and we can expect to see even better performance in future releases. We've also seen significant improvements in battery life, although it's too early to tell if this will be a major difference.

One of the most exciting features of iOS 16.2 is the new feature for the iPhone 14 Pro series. However, details about this feature are not provided in the text.

The latest beta 3 release notes show that Apple has made significant progress in resolving issues with previous betas. The freeform app now has two known issues fixed, and there's a resolved issue with HealthKit. The only known issue remaining is related to Stage manager on the iPad, but it's likely that this will be addressed in future releases.

Overall, iOS 16.2 beta 3 seems like a significant improvement over previous betas. With its updated update rate, improved performance, and bug fixes, we can expect a smooth and stable user experience. We'll have to wait until the final release to see how all these changes come together, but it's clear that Apple is working hard to make iOS 16.2 the best version yet.

As for what's next from Apple, we can expect to see another beta released in the coming weeks. According to the latest rumors, a fourth beta is likely to be released on the 22nd of November, with a fifth beta possibly following on the 29th. The release candidate (RC) is expected to be released on the 6th of December, and the final public release is likely to come sometime in early to mid-December.

In conclusion, iOS 16.2 beta 3 is an exciting development in the ongoing journey towards a more stable and feature-rich mobile operating system. With its improved performance, bug fixes, and new features, we can expect a seamless user experience. We'll have to wait until the final release to see how all these changes come together, but it's clear that Apple is working hard to make iOS 16.2 the best version yet.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enApple just released iOS 16.2 beta 3 to register developers just one week after the release of beta 2 and iOS 16.1.1 and as usual this should be out for public beta testers very soon and along with this iOS release Apple also dropped the third beta for iPad OS 16.2 Mac OS 13.1 watch OS 9.2 tvos 16.2 and homepod Os 16.2 now taking a look at the size of this update you can see it comes in just under 680 megabytes on my iPhone 14 pro Max which was coming from beta 2 so that size will vary depending on the device and the version you are coming from let's head into our settings General about 16.2 we can see the new build number here is 20c 5049e so we do still have an e at the end of the build number which does indicate we still have a few betas to go before the final release and we do also have a modem firmware update so now on the 14 series it's 1.22.00 all right so now what's new here in iOS 16.2 beta 3 and the first thing is actually a pretty major feature for the iPhone 14 pro series so if we head into our settings and then go down to display and brightness and then down to always on display you can see that we have two brand new toggles here for show wallpaper and show notifications so we are now able to disable the wallpaper and or our notifications from that always on display which will be very nice for reducing battery drain and kind of just reducing distractions as well because a lot of times I only use the always on display to get a quick glance at the time so now it's nice that I don't have to see the wallpaper and notifications so of course you can see this is what it looks like you can see the wallpaper in the background and if I had a notification it would show up right there I actually have my other device right here so you can see this is what the notification looks like on the the always on display you tap it of course it makes it a little bit brighter but now with this new feature here we're able to disable this I'm going to go ahead and disable both go back to the lock screen and you can see we do still have our widgets here we do still have our now playing the little live activities view down here but we no longer have a wallpaper and we no longer have our notifications if we had any right there so this is great to see and this is honestly how this feature should have shipped to begin with now I do still wish that we could get rid of our widgets up top and down to the bottom so we can just have a time but hopefully we see that in the future but it is nice to be able to choose if we want to show our wallpaper or notifications or not also Apple spelled when wrong and the always on display section and the settings now also on the lock screen if we tap and hold right here and then go to customize and go to our lock screen and then tap the three dots in the bottom right you can see that now it shows show photo and Library along with a grayed out depth effect so this feature where we can show that photo in the library a was there in beta 2 but we did not have the grayed out depth effect so that has been added there as well and this feature I feel like is just extremely underrated it's really nice if you cannot find that wallpaper or that image in your photo library or if you just want to quickly share it you can just tap that and it will show the photo in your library very easily we also have a change for the battery level action in the shortcuts application so you can see before on beta 2 it said get battery level now it says get battery status and if we tap on the I right here on both you can see we have more of a description and you can see the note down here just more added to that now if we add that shortcut right here you can see that we now have options before it was just get battery level but now you can see we have a little background there behind battery level which means we could tap on that and you can see it says is charging and is connected to charger so you could use this script along with other actions in a shortcut or an Automation and it's just nice to have there now today Apple also pushed out the the emergency SOS via satellite feature for the iPhone 14 pro series so this only shows up on devices that have an active cell connection so of course I cannot use my test device so here is my main iPhone 14 pro series which is currently running on iOS 16.1 and you can see up top we get a new prompt here that says get help during an emergency and if you tap on that you can see you can learn more and that shows up right here this is a new splash screen for emergency SOS via the satellite and it says if your call to Emergency Services won't go through ifo can help you text responders via satellite when connecting to a satellite make sure to be outside and have a clear view of the sky and you can see it shows that you need to review your medical ID to make sure it's up to date and then if we head down to the emergency SOS section in our settings and tap on that and then go all the way down to the bottom you can see we have a demo mode where we can try out this emergency SOS via satellite feature so once you go into the demo mode it tells you about the satellite connection let's tap on next answering emergency questions so it says during an emergency you'll answer emergency questions that can help you get the assistance you need faster and then it says using a satellite to send and receive messages so we're going to test that satellite connection and it does need to temporarily disable our Cellular Connections let's turn that off and you can see I'm not outside so it's probably not going to work but it says it's trying to get a clear view of the sky and it says that terrain buildings or trees can block your connection so it looks like it's actually working so I'm pointing my phone at the satellite that shows that little white thing right there is the satellite and I am connected now so it says keep pointed at Satellite to receive so it says this is a sample conversation and then it asks where is my location and I just put in house and you can see the signal is pretty weak when you are inside but this feature is officially here in iOS 16.2 beta 3. now of course this does not require iOS 16.2 beta 3 just came out on the same day this feature actually requires iOS 16.1 or or later it was just pushed via a server-side updates and of course it does work on all iPhone 14 devices only and the Sleep widget on the lock screen also appears to be more accurate now so before it would show these little lines at random Parts where I wasn't actually awake and sometimes it wouldn't even sync the previous day it would sink like two days prior so now it seems like the Sleep widget is more accurate and consistent and then in our settings for the TV application we have live activities and we have that brand new update rate more frequent updates toggle right there now that is still not available for third-party applications it appears this is only for the first party apps at least for the time being so it does show up for TV I've actually not noticed a difference when having this on versus having it off but I will be testing this more and of course Apple I'm sure will make this better by the time 16.2 gets ready for the final release now as far as bugs go we still have the bug where we swipe down on the control center and it shows a lag right there with the home kit devices it just shows them bling tank and it just looks really bad very buggy that's been there for a while of course we do have several other bugs that I've talked about previously I sound like a broken record so I don't want to keep talking about them but I've not noticed any specific new bugs to Beta 3 just yet but if I do I will let you guys know and in my Apple weekly episode this weekend but if we take a look at the release notes these release notes for beta 3 are actually pretty promising because we have a lot of resolved issues so the first one shows freeform and it shows two known issues that have been fixed then we have health where we have a resolved issue along with an a resolved issue in health kit and the only known issue remaining here in beta 3 is related to Stage manager on the iPad but 16.2 in general is actually looking pretty good because all of the bugs that I'm currently facing here on beta 3 have been bugs since iOS 16.1 they're just still not addressed so things are looking pretty good as far as bugs go now as far as performance goes performance on beta 3 is actually much better than it was on betas 1 and 2 so I know myself and a lot of others had issue with stutter on the lock screen the home screen and in a certain first party applications and that stutter seems to be addressed with beta 3. so if you did have stutter make sure to check it out but it should be fixed and performance overall feels just a little bit better even in applications I noticed in camera things seem a little bit faster as well now of course it's not going to be a massive difference but if you use every single beta you will notice a difference I did also run a geekbench test here and you can see how that compares to Beta 2. so we got an 1877 and a 54 75 for our scores and that was the exact same single core score as beta 2 but the multi-core is higher as you can see 5475 versus 54 13. that was also much higher than beta 1. and then as far as the battery life goes I will give you guys an update in my Apple weekly episode this weekend but so far it's too early to tell but I will say that 16.2 in general roll has been pretty solid with battery life so I would assume that beta 3 is just going to improve on that and hopefully we do see a better battery life here in beta 3 along with that better performance and then finally let's talk about what to expect next from Apple so we are officially on a weekly release schedule for these iOS 16.2 betas so that means that we should expect to see a fourth beta next week most likely on the 22nd but of course Apple you know they do like those Tuesday releases but it could come anywhere from the 21st to the 23rd it just depends on Apple's schedule but next week we should expect to see a beta 4 and I don't expect to see a 16.1.2 before 16.2 I think we're going to just see 16.2 as the next public release and that is looking like it's going to come sometime in early to mid December I think what we could see is a fourth beta on the 22nd a fifth beta on the 29th and RC on the 6th and a final release on the 12th or the 13th but of course time will tell and I will keep you guys updated over on Twitter so if you're not following me on Twitter make sure to follow me over there I do give you guys updates pretty much daily in terms of these iOS releases so there you have it that is IOS 16.2 beta 3 with a massive feature for the iPhone 14 pro series and a few other minor features for all other devices so if you guys enjoyed this video I would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also make sure to subscribe for more iOS 16 videos just like this one but anyways thanks again for watching and I'll see you soon thank you foreignApple just released iOS 16.2 beta 3 to register developers just one week after the release of beta 2 and iOS 16.1.1 and as usual this should be out for
