Tech 21 and Impactology: A Revolutionary Approach to Phone Case Design

In our previous encounter with Tech 21, I had the opportunity to test their case, which unfortunately broke my screen during a drop test. However, despite this setback, I was impressed by the quality of the case, and I'm excited to learn more about the company's latest developments.

Giles, can you tell me a little bit about Tech 21 and what new things you have in store for us? What inspired the company to adopt impactology, which is a use of scientifically proven materials?

"Tech 21 takes impactology very seriously," Giles explained. "Our mission is to create phone cases that not only protect your device but also provide peace of mind. We've developed a proprietary technology called D3O, which is used in all of our phone cases." He then proceeded to demonstrate the molecular behavior of D3O.

Giles took a piece of D2O and showed how its molecules flow freely when moved, but rip quickly if pulled with force. "The amazing thing about D3O is its molecular behavior," he said. "When it's strained or stressed, the molecules lock together and absorb impact force." To demonstrate this further, Giles used a mallet to whack his finger, which was protected by the D3O material.

As expected, my finger was absolutely fine, despite being subjected to a significant amount of force. This is where the magic of D3O comes into play. Most liquids wouldn't be able to withstand such stress without breaking, but D3O is able to absorb and distribute impact forces in a unique way. This technology has been used in various applications, including bulletproof glass.

Giles then showed me their latest phone case, the Impact Trio, which features a hard outer shell, a softer inner layer, and a D3 lining that absorbs impact. The same multi-layer structure is also present in their latest product, the Impact Shield, a screen protector that uses a three-layer system to absorb and distribute impact forces.

The Impact Shield features a very hard outer shell that spreads out the impact force, followed by a middle layer called Bullet Shield, which is made by BASF and used in bulletproof glass. The base layer is then soft, slowing down the impact course. This innovative design makes the Impact Shield an exceptional screen protector that provides unparalleled protection for your device.

As I conclude my conversation with Giles from Tech 21, I'm excited to see how their impactology approach will continue to shape the phone case industry. With technologies like D3O and the Impact Shield, it's clear that these companies are committed to creating products that not only protect our devices but also provide peace of mind.
