The Future of Portable Projectors: ZTE S2 Pro Review
What happens when you take a portable projector and throw in pretty much all of the capabilities of a smartphone? You get the ZTE S2 Pro, a brand new Pico projector that is about to revolutionize the way we project images on the go. As can be seen from its sleek metal construction and slim design, which measures just over an inch tall and weighs less than a pound, this device is designed to be compact and portable.
The PCO (Portable Cinema On-the-Go) projection technology used in the S2 Pro is a mobile DLP that projects up to 120 inches in size at 200 lumens. This is double the brightness of the original S Pro and allows for a much larger screen size, making it perfect for presentations, movies, or even gaming on a projected screen. The native resolution is set at 720p, providing a great viewing experience for images from Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
Controlling the S Pro 2 involves a 5-inch touchscreen right on top, which provides an intuitive user interface to navigate through various settings and features. However, there are also several buttons located around the metal chassis that allow for easy access to different functions and modes. This design makes it perfect for use on-the-go, as it is both compact and feature-rich.
Powering the S Pro 2 is the Snapdragon 800 processor, accompanied by Adreno 330 Graphics. However, what truly sets this device apart is its connectivity options. Not only can it be made into a 4G LTE hotspot, allowing up to eight devices to access fast networks, but it also features USB 3.0 ports on the back for easy connection to other devices. This makes it an ideal choice for anyone looking to project images and connect multiple devices simultaneously.
One of the standout features of the S Pro 2 is its battery life. With a 6300mAh capacity, it supports up to three hours as a full projector and up to ten hours as a hotspot. Additionally, there is an expandable memory slot that allows for up to 2TB of additional storage, making it perfect for anyone looking to store large files or movies.
In our initial testing, we found the device to be quite sturdy and felt really nice when held in hand. This was especially true when standing it up on its little stand on the front and getting the projector going. The 720p resolution is undoubtedly a bright spot for the S Pro 2, allowing for crisp and clear images that are perfect for projecting onto a large screen.
Another benefit of the S Pro 2 is its ability to create an up-to-120-inch screen size, making it a fun device to use for presentations or watching movies while traveling. With all the connectivity options available, including 4G LTE hotspot capabilities and USB 3.0 ports, this device has everything needed to make it an ideal choice for anyone looking to project images on the go.
One aspect that we particularly liked about the S Pro 2 is its integration of a full Android 4.4 experience. This not only provides access to all the usual features and apps, but also allows for seamless gaming on a projected screen from the Android ecosystem. This feature alone makes the S Pro 2 an incredibly compelling package.
As we await the release of the ZTE S2 Pro, we can't help but feel excited about its potential to revolutionize the way we project images on the go. With its impressive specs, compact design, and seamless integration with Android, this device is sure to be a hit among tech enthusiasts and professionals alike.
