**Unboxing the Apple iPod Nano (Red Edition)**
We're excited to finally get our hands on the brand new Apple iPod Nano, specially designed for Product Red. This special edition iPod Nano is not only stylish but also supports a great cause by donating a portion of its proceeds to AIDS research and finding a cure. As we unbox this device, let's take a closer look at the packaging.
The product red iPod Nano comes in a sleek package with a prominent Apple logo that's turned upside down. The box features an alliteration between "product" and "red," which we think is quite clever. Moving on to the inside of the package, we find some additional information about this specific device, including its design by Apple California.
**Packaging Details**
The packaging includes a barcode with no numbers at the bottom, followed by some essential product information and two Apple stickers. There's also an information booklet that explains some important details about the iPod Nano, such as its designed-to-be-durable construction and eco-friendly features. The earpods come in a special foam packaging, which is a nice touch. What's even cooler about this packaging is that it disintegrates if exposed to water, making it eco-friendly for the environment.
**Device Contents**
Inside the package, we find Apple's new lightning cable, a 9-pin connector that replaces the old 30-pin connector. The change from the older connector has been met with enthusiasm by many users. We also have the earpods, which come in a plastic container designed to be compact and portable.
**First Impressions**
Once we removed the packaging, we found a default sticker on the device's screen. Taking it off reveals the 2.5-inch touchscreen display, which is quite large for an iPod Nano. The home button features a circle shape instead of the traditional square or rectangle seen in other Apple devices like the iPod touch and iPhone 5.
**Design and Layout**
The volume rockers are located on the side, providing tactile feedback when adjusted. The device also features a flat strip that allows for smooth scrolling. Coming to the top, we have the sleep wake button, which is situated alongside the 3.5mm audio jack and the lightning connector port. On the back, the device has an anodized aluminum backing in red, complemented by more product red information.
**Boot Up**
When we pressed the power button, the iPod Nano sprang to life after just a few seconds. The boot-up process was smooth and uneventful, which is expected given that it's the first boot of the device. This also gives us an opportunity to get familiar with the new design and layout.
**Design Takeaways**
One of the standout features of this iPod Nano design is the circular home button. We appreciate how Apple has moved away from traditional square or rectangle shapes in favor of a more rounded approach, which adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the device. The flat strip on the side also provides a convenient way to navigate through the menu.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, we're thoroughly impressed with this product red iPod Nano. From its eco-friendly packaging to its sleek design and intuitive layout, this device has everything we'd expect from Apple. We'll be sharing our full review in the coming days, including more insights into its performance, features, and overall value.
