Creating an Illusion of Puffy Eyes: A Guide to Enhancing Your Natural Beauty
The eyes can express more than words, and creating an illusion of puffy eyes is actually very popular in Asia. This technique makes your eyes appear more cheerful and gives you a youthful look. If you already have puffy eyes, this will be a no-brainer, but if you don't, I'll show you how to recreate them.
Starting with the Brows
------------------------
To create an illusion of puffy eyes, we need to start with our brows. For this, I'm using a Duo brow powder set that will help me create natural-looking brows. I like to begin at the bottom part of my brows and work my way up. Reshape your brows until you're happy with the look, remembering that they don't have to look identical. Identical looking brows can sometimes appear too artificial, so if they're slightly off, that's totally fine.
Moving on to Eye Makeup
------------------------
Now it's time to focus on our eye makeup. I'm using an L'Oreal eyeshadow quad that I've had for ages. The combination of the white and shimmering peachy pink will be used along the lower lash line to highlight under your eyes, creating an illusion of puffiness.
To add depth to this look, use a matte taupe or brown color softly create a line underneath the highlighting color. This will give an illusion of a shadow. With a darker matte brown, create another line along the outer part of your eye to create an illusion of depth. Gently soften the makeup with your blending brush so that it looks like a natural shadow.
The key to this look is to blend out any harsh lines and ensure that your eyes appear open and refreshed. If you don't conceal dark circles, this will make your eyes appear more tired and instead of cute puffy eyes, you'll end up with baggy zombie eyes. So, definitely conceal those dark circles.
Now, let's move on to the rest of our face. We don't want it to look shiny, as that would detract from the puffy eye illusion. Take this time to powder the rest of your face and keep it looking natural.
Lining Your Eyes
-----------------
It's essential to keep the line as thin as possible when lining your eyes. This will help create a more subtle look that won't distract from our puffy eyes. Just even out both eyes, making sure they're symmetrical and balanced.
Curling Your Lashes
---------------------
To open up your eyes and enhance the illusion of puffiness, curl your lashes and get them nice and perky. This will help draw attention to your eyes and make them appear more alert and awake.
Time for Mascara
-----------------
Add a few generous coats of mascara on your lashes. Remember not to let it be too dramatic; we want our lashes to look long and natural, not overdone or fake.
Concealing the Edges of Your Lips
--------------------------------
To complete this look, break out your sponge load up with concealer and conceal the outer edge of your lips. This will help create a more defined shape and prevent them from looking too full or overwhelming.
Time for Lip Color
-------------------
Finally, it's time to add some color to our lips. I'm using a bright lip color, but if you prefer fuller-looking lips, go ahead and apply a richer shade. By pairing cute puffy eyes with smaller, gentler lips, you'll look like a doll!
Tips and Tricks
---------------
Remember, the key to creating an illusion of puffy eyes is to keep it natural and subtle. Blend out any harsh lines and focus on enhancing your features without overdoing it.
