Driving the New Saline S1: A Mid-Engined Race Car with Street Car Potential
As I sat down at the thermal Club outside of Palm Springs, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Today's mission was to drive the new Saline s1, a mid-engined race car that will be hitting the streets soon. The car looks familiar, and for good reason - it shares some design elements with the Arteaga GT, which was originally intended to be repurposed.
However, according to what I believe is Celine's on design making in the neighborhood of 440 horsepower, although they adjust it depending on the series that you're racing in. They're going to raise these in GT 4 as well as their own Cup Series. So, which series is the Saline s1 destined for? That remains to be seen.
As I climbed into the driver's seat and started up the engine, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. The car weighs in at around 2600 pounds, with double wishbone front and rear suspension, as well as a human race sequential gearbox with a limited hub hollinger not human thank you for the correct is a Hollinger sequential gearbox with a clutch to get going and manual brakes.
As I put the car through its paces, I was struck by its balance and stability. Despite not having power steering or power brakes, the Saline s1 handled incredibly well, with good mid-to-high speed stability. It's not physically demanding to drive, but it does require a certain level of skill and finesse.
One of the biggest challenges of driving the Saline s1 is responding to its snappy snap entry on low-speed corners. When you push too hard, the car will oversteer, requiring you to recover quickly and smoothly. It's not intimidating, but it does take some practice to get the hang of.
Despite the challenges, I found the Saline s1 to be an incredibly fun drive. Once the tires get warm, the car comes alive, with a planted feel that's hard to match. Overall, I'm really impressed with the potential of this mid-engined race car and look forward to seeing how it develops in the street car version.
Conclusion
As we step into the new year, it's the perfect time to make 2020 something bigger. Whether it's learning a new skill through Skillshare or driving an incredible car like the Saline s1, there's always room for growth and improvement. With its affordability and accessibility, Skillshare is the perfect platform for anyone looking to learn a new skill or pursue their passions.
