As the days get shorter and the nights get darker, it's hard not to feel a sense of bleakness wash over us. The fall season is upon us, but for some people, it doesn't quite feel like a cozy time of year. Instead, it can be a period of transition and melancholy.
In this case, I wish it could just be fall without the accompanying darkness that comes with it. I'm tired of the sun setting early and the nights getting cooler. But despite my wishes, I know that's just not how nature works. The night is getting darker, that's a fact. And as much as I don't want to think about it, I know I'll have to face the darkness head-on.
One way for me to cope with the fall season is to read some dark and creepy stories. There's something about getting lost in a good book that can help take my mind off things. Recently, I finished reading two books that I thought were particularly creepy, "The Shadows" by Alex North and "Home Before Dark". Both of these books had me on the edge of my seat, with woods playing a significant role in their plots.
"The Shadows" was a bit like a real-life mystery novel, where a killing took place many years ago and then there's a new investigation that revisits the case. It was gripping and intense, with some scenes that really got to me. "Home Before Dark", on the other hand, had all the makings of a classic haunted house story. It was about a supposedly haunted house, but I'm not sure if it actually is or not. There's definitely something paranormal at work in this one.
Both books were great reads, especially for getting into the Halloween spirit. If you're looking for some nighttime scares to keep you up all night, I would definitely recommend checking them out.
As the days get colder and the nights get darker, there's nothing like a good heartwarming story to warm your spirits. For me, that means turning to my favorite cozy author, Rainbow Rowell. Her books are always so adorable and fun to read. One of her recent releases is "Pumpkin Heads", which I just can't recommend enough. It's a graphic novel about two characters who work at a pumpkin patch, and it's just the cutest thing.
I love this book because it's all about cozy feelings - pumpkin spice everything, warm blankets, and just enjoying the simple things in life. If you're looking for a quick and easy read that will put a smile on your face, then "Pumpkin Heads" is definitely worth checking out.
As fall returns every year, I always find myself thinking about some of my favorite books from years past. One of those books is "One True Loves" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This book was so good that it made me cry, and even though it's not a new release, I still can't help but think about it all the time.
I love this book because it's just so beautifully written - the writing is gorgeous, and the characters are all so well-developed. It's also a bit of a romance novel, which I adore. If you're looking for a good read to get you in the mood for fall, then I would definitely recommend checking out "One True Loves".
As we head into the fall season, there's nothing like curling up with a good book and some cozy accessories to make the time feel more special. For me, one of my favorite things is a warm and inviting candle - especially Bath & Body Works' Marshmallow Fireside scent.
This candle is just the best - it smells like toasted marshmallows smoldering in the fire on a crisp fall night. It's so comforting and cozy, and I could burn it all year round if I wanted to. In fact, I do buy at least six of these candles every year because they're my absolute favorite. They're also really affordable, which is a bonus.
Another thing that helps me get into the fall spirit is reading with some cozy accessories by my side. For this reason, I have one essential item in my home - a Gilmore Girls throw blanket. This blanket has been a staple of my home for years, and it's always a reminder of my favorite TV show. The characters on this show are just so lovable and quirky, and the blanket is almost as warm and cozy.
When it comes to getting into the fall spirit, I also like to think about spreading some appreciation and tax love to those around me. This might sound a bit weird, but for me, "The Honor Appreciation and Tax" tag has been really meaningful lately. It's just a reminder to be kind and appreciative of the people in my life - especially during the darker months when it can be easy to get caught up in negative thoughts.
If you're feeling inspired to spread some love and appreciation, then I say go for it! Share this video with your friends or family members who might need a little reminder to appreciate those around them. And who knows, maybe it'll even brighten someone's day.
As we head into the fall season, I know that there will be plenty of opportunities for darkness and melancholy. But I also know that there are many ways to cope with these feelings - especially when it comes to reading dark and creepy stories or curling up with a good book and some cozy accessories.
