Designing a Dorm Room with Style and Functionality: A $11,000 Budget Breakdown

There's no painting and this is typical with a lot of dorm rooms, you're not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling. Right? Yeah, yeah, you can't do anything and I could be mistaken but you can't do anything with the curtains either. Right, right? You guys just put your socks away we're done.

With all the restrictions here, I'm definitely going to need to pass that down to my design team, summer and Charles. I want to thank you guys for having me come by and you guys have another place to study. Cuz you can't be in the space while we're working. We got somewhere to stay cool all right, welcome back to design on a dime.

We've been having a redecorating party in Jeff and Danny's dorm room even with all of the college restrictions regarding painting and furniture and hanging stuff on the wall, we think we gave them what they really wanted. This is how the room used to look. Let's see how the guys like it now. All right, let me put you right over there. Guys are you ready? Yeah, yeah, open your eyes wow, oh my gosh, you like it, D. Welcome dorm room, wow, wow, so awesome.

Before the room's layout wasn't working and there was minimal area for storage with the beds. Now, raised the guys have more floor space which keeps the Clutter off the desks. So when you're tired of working on the desk, you can go and kick back underneath there and study nice and then look at all the new storage underneath there. Yeah, they're still empty so you guys can fill it up with all your own stuff.

We've got storage bins in there for you underneath each of the chairs is a big plastic storage bin. The shelf we created above the bed also doubles as a nightstand. And down below, they've got a brand new storage tower Charles built this. There's two sides to it so you guys don't have to fight over who gets what side. It's also on Wheels.

Just when you thought you had enough storage, look again. You have more. A before the lighting really left the boys in the dark now they've got lights everywhere. They turn you've got lighting above your bed. So if you wanted to read at night individually, you could. Okay, guys check out your new picture board that's awesome is that cool? Yeah, cuz we know you wanted a really cool way to display your pictures and summer came up with that idea.

And what it is are those pictures are in glass frames that have magnets on it. Okay so we gave you some additional ones you can put as many pictures you want up there. That's great. And just move them around. Is that cool? Great. We've also given the guys new bedding that matches their school colors. And we used Jeff's old throw pillows to make the desk chairs more comfortable. But I think it's the attention we paid to their hobbies that will really win them over.

New golf clubs for you, my friends. So now you guys can practice. Look down that awesome new putting green. Isn't that cool? So when you guys were like you know tired of studying, you guys can like practice a little bit. Nice. I'm going to say this. You guys are the first dorm room probably in America for that matter to have their very own putting green in the DM room. People be knocking on your door saying dude, let me come over and practice a little bit.

Amaze. So awesome. Thank you so much. I had a great time designing and I tell you what, I built this thing and I want to try it out some more. So okay. Nice. miss my dorm room days at all how's this space working for you guys or is it not working for you guys um I think the main thing for us is storage okay there they provid storage but there's not a lot
