Toyota’s brilliant new baby RAV4 - it's got DUAL motors!

**The Toyota Yaris Cross: A New Addition to the Hybrid Family**

Toyota has pioneered hybrid technology with its original Prius, and this innovative approach has become the norm for many car manufacturers today. The new Toyota Yaris Cross is no exception, boasting a hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver impressive fuel economy. With an estimated over 50 miles per gallon, this compact SUV promises to be a reliable choice for those looking for eco-friendly transportation.

**A Conservative Interior Design**

While the exterior of the Yaris Cross is vibrant and eye-catching, the interior design is more subdued. The dashboard features metallic trim about the place, but there's nothing particularly exciting or innovative on offer. In contrast to its larger SUV counterparts, such as the Volkswagen T-Cross, the Yaris Cross lacks a bright, bold color scheme to liven things up. However, this lack of flair isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it ensures that the car remains a straightforward, no-frills proposition.

**A Welcome Addition: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto**

In a welcome change, Toyota has finally decided to fit its cars with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing drivers to seamlessly connect their mobile phones to the infotainment system. This feature is long overdue for many car manufacturers, but it's a significant improvement for those who want to use their smartphones in the car without having to resort to voice commands or complicated menu systems.

**A New Color Option: Brass Gold**

Toyota has also introduced a new color option for the Yaris Cross, dubbed "Brass Gold." This vibrant and eye-catching hue is inspired by natural, urban environments and offers a fresh alternative to traditional metallic colors. The fact that it was named after gold suggests that Toyota wanted to create something warm and inviting, which seems fitting given the car's focus on eco-friendliness and practicality.

**All-Wheel Drive: A Nod to Off-Road Capability**

One area where the Yaris Cross excels is in its off-road capability. Unlike many of its small SUV competitors, which are largely front-wheel drive only, the Yaris Cross offers an all-wheel drive option that uses a second electric motor to power the rear wheels. This system provides extra traction and stability when driving on slippery or uneven surfaces, making it a worthwhile feature for those who enjoy exploring rough terrain.

**A Waitlist Ahead: Pricing TBA**

Unfortunately, Toyota has announced that the Yaris Cross won't be available until sometime next year, with no pricing details released just yet. Considering the normal Yaris hybrid starts at around £20,000, it's likely that the SUV will start from somewhere in the region of £25,000. While this is still a relatively competitive price point, it's worth keeping an eye on developments as more information becomes available.

**Safety Features: A Safety Net**

Toyota has long been praised for its commitment to safety, and the Yaris Cross is no exception. The car boasts a comprehensive suite of safety features, including multiple airbags, emergency braking, and advanced cruise control systems that can adjust speed and steering to keep drivers on course. With this level of protection in place, owners can drive with confidence knowing they're protected in case of an accident.

**A Platform for Excellence: A Family Affair**

The Yaris Cross is built on the same platform as the Yaris hatchback, which Toyota has proclaimed will be the safest compact car on the market. Given its shared underpinnings and production line, it's likely that the Yaris Cross will inherit many of the same safety features and design elements, making it a solid choice for families who value reliability and practicality above all else.

**A Special Edition App**

For those who want to stay up-to-date with the latest news and developments on the Toyota Yaris Cross, there's a special app available that offers a wealth of information. This free download includes features like video reviews, price comparison tools, and even a number plate scanner that uses your smartphone camera to quickly read the vehicle's details and estimate its value.

**Conclusion**

The Toyota Yaris Cross is an intriguing addition to the hybrid family, boasting impressive fuel economy and a range of innovative safety features. While it may not offer the most exciting interior design, this compact SUV promises to be a reliable choice for those looking for eco-friendly transportation without sacrificing practicality. With its all-wheel drive option and advanced safety features, the Yaris Cross is well-positioned to compete in a crowded market, and we can't wait to see how it performs when it finally hits the roads next year.
