Review of "Landline" by Rainbow Rowell

Hey everyone, it's Hailey and today I'm going to be doing a spoiler-free review for landline by Rainbow Rell I can never say her name properly I'm sorry so this book follows our main character Georgie and she is married to Neil now they have been married for quite a while now but now they are having trouble in their marriage and it all kind of comes to a climax when she has to when she is supposed to go with him and their two daughters to Omaha to visit his family but she has to work she works in the TV industry she's a writer she's a comedy writer and they have the opportunity to um get their show produced so she has to stay home for Christmas so Neil decides that he's going to go with the girls to Omaha without Georgie and leave her at home by herself so while Georgie is in LA and Neil is with the girls out in Omaha she is trying to contact him but cannot get a hold of him and when she finally uses her old phone from her her mom's house to try and contact him she ends up coming coming in contact with him from 1998 which the year right now in the book is present day in the book is 2013 so she's talking to her old husband before they were even married the year that they got engaged so basically long story short she has a landline which she can contact her husband from before they are even married and maybe try and figure out what went wrong with their marriage and if she can fix it

The writing in typical rainbow Royal fashion was just fantastic it realistic characters realistic situations and dialogue and it was just cute and fun and quirky and quick it wasn't that quick actually this is the longest uh this is the longest that it has taken me to read a rainbow roel book most of them I have read in a day but this one took me 3 days not that I wasn't enjoying it it just took me a long time for some reason but anyways that's besides the point so yeah the characters were awesome I really liked how in the writing she added these funny elements like with the pugs the pugs were really funny her mom's pugs I was really laughing and then there's this one part with the pugs that was super super funny and it's like not supposed to be it's kind of funny but like it was just really funny

The characters in the book are really realistic and relatable Georgie is kind of annoying and kind of like indecisive and y but it was also in that situation you would be whining I mean you haven't been able to get a hold of your husband except for him in 1998 you would be complaining about it but I did really like her um I really liked Seth I thought he was just really funny and kind of I kept on if you watch The Mindy Project I kept on picturing him as um dror Reed Jeremy is that his name I don't know but I just kept on picturing the British guy I kept on picturing ing him as him for some reason I don't know why but yeah um Georgie and Neil's relationship was really kind of quirky Georgie and Neil's relationship was really quirky and complicated but like I said it was realistic

Neil is a big part of the story in landline he's not really around much when Georgie is trying to figure out what went wrong with their marriage so she can fix it but he does make appearances throughout the book and Georgie's feelings towards him are pretty complex I wish we had gotten to see more of Neil because it wasn't really a lot you didn't get to see a lot of him obviously cuz he's away in Omaha but like I felt like I didn't get to really get to know him as a character and as far as plot goes I was like kind of disappointed I mean um it was kind of dry a little bit but it did pick up but then there were a lot of loose ends that were just kind of left like you didn't get to find out about a few things and the ending was kind of antil climatic

Despite my disappointment with certain parts of the plot I really enjoyed landline it's a cute and fun book with realistic characters and situations the writing is typical rainbow Rowell so if you liked her other books you'll probably like this one too Rainbow Rell's books are always full of humor and heart and landline is no exception it's just a little more slow-paced than some of her other works but still worth reading if you're a fan of romance novels or just looking for something light and enjoyable.

If you're planning on reading landline I would definitely recommend checking it out because it shows up on Book Outlet sometimes um all of rainbow R's books do so if you do find it on Book Outlet then definitely scoop that right up I hope you guys enjoyed this video and I will see you guys in the next one bye.
