M3 iMac Unboxing & First Impressions!

**Apple's Latest All-in-One Display: A Great Shared Device and Gaming Machine**

There are some people out there who actually use Apple devices in their daily lives, and this latest all-in-one display is no exception. It makes a great shared device for internet surfing, light productivity, and content consumption. The screen is pretty nice to watch, whether it's just YouTube or a movie, and under the right circumstances, it can be a really enjoyable experience.

However, don't overlook this as a gaming machine. While it may not be the most powerful Mac in the world, Apple's silicon technology is nothing to sneeze at. The M3 chip is two generations after the M1, but it still offers significant performance improvements, including 50% faster frame rates and hardware-accelerated rate R tracing. This means that even professionals who may not need the most powerful machine for their work can benefit from the improved performance.

One of the things that sets this all-in-one display apart is its sleek design. It's perfect for people who don't like clutter, with a minimalist setup that eliminates the need for wires and external peripherals. If you're someone who likes to keep things clean and organized, this could be an attractive option. Additionally, businesses that have forward-facing reception areas where clients will be coming in may want to consider using this display to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Educational settings, such as computer labs or libraries, could also benefit from this type of display. It's a great way to showcase content and provide students with a large, high-quality screen for presentations and projects. And while some people may complain about the lack of ports, four USB-C ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and Wi-Fi 6 ensure that there are plenty of options for connecting devices.

However, it's worth noting that this display is not geared towards hardcore professionals who need to push the envelope in terms of compute power. It's more suited to aspiring creatives who want to get into light photo editing or intermediate design work. For students, however, it may be a bit too limited as a sole computer. A Macbook or iPad would be a more practical choice for someone on-the-go.

**Design and Perceived Stagnation**

When it comes to design, some people may argue that Apple has been stagnant in recent years, with their products looking the same from year to year. However, this latest all-in-one display is actually quite attractive, with its sleek lines and minimalism making it a great addition to any room.

In fact, Apple has been exploring new design concepts, including foldable displays and touchscreen technology. While these ideas may not have yet come to fruition as standalone products, they demonstrate the company's willingness to experiment and innovate. The latest all-in-one display is a great example of this approach, with its sleek design and impressive performance making it a compelling option for anyone looking for a new device.

One thing that Apple has been working on behind the scenes is improving their designs, as shown by the patent filings they've recently made public. While these patents may not necessarily mean that we'll see a completely redesigned product in the near future, they do suggest that Apple is committed to exploring new ideas and concepts that could potentially change the game.

**Conclusion**

Overall, this latest all-in-one display from Apple is a great option for anyone looking for a shared device or gaming machine. With its impressive performance, sleek design, and minimalism making it perfect for clutter-free living spaces, it's a compelling choice for anyone who wants to upgrade their setup without breaking the bank. While it may not be suitable for hardcore professionals, it's more than capable of handling light creative work and content consumption, making it a great option for aspiring creatives on a budget.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey it's Chris the new M3 iMac is here today I'm going to unbox it and kind of go through my first impressions give you some background on where this iMac is coming from in terms of why it exists who it exists for and who should avoid it and look elsewhere now opinions on this new iMac are all over the place I've seen it praised as the perfect family computer and I've also seen it called Apple's laziest iMac refresh ever but today I want to help you go through whether or not you should avoid this new iMac or if it's perfect for you and believe me there are some use cases where this is perfect let's look at the lineup history a little bit the original iMac debuted in 1998 and it was called the iMac because it was a user-friendly computer with internet capabilities internet IE that's where the IE came from in 2002 the lineup transition from a CRT to a flat panel LCD in 2007 the design shifted to the aluminum and glass look and then in 2012 Apple introduced a thinner design with an improved display in 2014 that turned into the iMac with retina display and then in 2021 we got got the Apple silicon version with the M1 chip inside and the current design language so here we are today with the eigh Gen iMac which has shifted in response to Consumer and Tech Trends over the years to become this blend of design and performance so onto the question of the day is this the design and is this the level of performance that's right for you well let's start with the fact that you can get the base model iMac here 8 core CPU 8 core GPU 256 gigs of storage 8 gigs of RAM for 1,299 bucks that includes the computer the screen keyboard mouse and trackpad all of this included with the color matching cords for 1,300 bucks your other options for a Mac desktop would be a Mac Mini paired with the studio display or a Mac Studio paired with the studio display Mini Plus a studio display is going to run you about $2,200 for the base unit and if you go with the Mac Studio Plus a studio display you're looking at 3600 so all other factors aside if you're looking to do some light productivity and gaming then you can save about $900 going with the M3 iMac over the Mac Mini with the studio display combo so it's hard to decide is it the looks or the pricing that's more attractive it's kind of a tossup there now I will just say apple usually has some amazingly clever headlines for products on their website and there are a couple on the iMac website you do Hue all right that's clever but up at the top the main headline is just packed with more juice nothing even clever or py about it they're just stating yeah we gave it a new chip but let's not kid ourselves okay this thing is absolutely iconic it's like a sculpture really it's fun it's colorful it's basic but in the best possible way it's uncomplicated it's straightforward and you have to love the color match accessories these look great even if they are still lightning yes in late 2023 and when Apple's switching everything over to USBC we still have some lightning cords shipping here now I'm going to do a full review of this later just kind of want to get you my first impressions as I take this out of the box and and kind of talk about it I have to tell you iMac speakers are not a joke they're way nicer than a lot of people realize but the speakers and the sound coming out of this thing are so nice you don't even need a homepod in the room this thing is in honestly now the display is only 24 in but that's better than 21 in it's no 27 or 32 but then again $12.99 here for an all-inclusive package yeah it could be a bigger screen but no it doesn't look like Apple's going to bring us 27in version they're going to kind of suggest that you look at maybe the two options that we talked about the Mac Mini or the Mac Studio paired up with the studio display so for the price for a basic computer that you can do some basic productivity on basic gaming with the M3 chip inside this is not a bad price this is not a bad package so as I prepare to do the review here and let you know what it's like to work with to live with let me know what you want to see test it but I am thinking about this as I'm seeing this sitting here on the desk and I'm picturing this in my work environment and using it I think that if you're looking for a nice screen on your desktop but you still want the option to have some portability ility this the iMac paired up with an iPad like an iPad Air or maybe even the pro might be an absolutely killer combination so if you're a knowledge worker this could be a great home base that by the way looks amazing really do like this green color here but it's almost 2024 and I keep banging this drum that you don't have to have a Mac or an iPad you could have that combination and this is an interesting one iMac Plus iPad speaking of the complete package the hardware that you're working on is only part of the story when it comes to what you can get done and how efficient you are you have to learn how to be productive luckily for you I've got a course it's called learning to be productive and it will help you get the most out of your Apple ecosystem it'll help you get more done whether it's on the iMac here or any other Apple device in less time with less burnout it's linked up down below and for a very limited time it's on sale check it out now let's talk a little bit about who this iMac is for apple really builds this as the world's best all-in-one computer and it's hard to argue when you you think of Allin one computers what are the alternatives on the PC side nothing that's super amazing right but the real question is well who benefits from having an all-in-one computer that stays parked on your desk the most obvious answer is that this makes a great family computer you park it either in the home office or maybe in the living room or maybe there's somebody out there who actually does what Apple does in his promo material and sits it on the kitchen counter or Island but there's no doubt about it it makes a great shared device for internet surfing for light productivity for Content consumption right it's a pretty nice looking screen so under the right circumstances in the right room it's nice to watch some content on here whether it's just YouTube or whether it's actually a movie but don't overlook this as a gaming machine no it's not the most powerful Mac in the world but Apple silicon is nothing to sneeze at I know so many people who have an M1 who are like I don't need to upgrade it's so good already and the M3 is two generations after that you will still get 50% faster frame rates here you still get that Hardware accelerated rate R tracing that's not just for the pros so you hook up a Playstation controller and this is actually a pretty cool gaming machine certainly this all-in-one design is great for people who don't like clutter so if you don't like a bunch of wires strung all over the place if you're not the kind of person who's going to get external monitors you know and speakers and put them all over the place you just want a clean minimal setup then this is really going to appeal and obviously because the Aesthetics here it looks so good a lot of businesses that have forward-facing reception areas where clients are going to come in would like to have something like this facing the clients you know it kind of sets the mood or the tone if you're trying to put off a Desy Vibe right then this is a great way to do it but I think you also see this in some educational scenarios in computer labs or libraries things like that now I know that there's some people out there who are going to be complaining about the ports you got four USB C's two of those Thunderbolts and on top of that Wi-Fi 6 for a fast wireless connection so you have to keep in mind this is not geared towards hardcore professionals who are going to be pushing the envelope in terms of compute power but on the other hand if you're an aspiring creative and you do want to get into doing some light photo editing or even some intermediate photo editing or designing then sure I think you're actually going to be blown away by what you can do here and these ports are not going to be as limiting as some people would have you believe in the old days the IMAX I think would have appealed really to the college set but I can't imagine a student who would have this as their sole computer you really want something more mobile and portable I think in the students situation something like a Macbook or an iPad that you can take to class and bring it back it works in all scenarios and situations so if you're thinking to yourself hm well maybe I don't mind spending a little extra for something like the Mac Mini or the Mac Studio paired with the studio display then think yourself do you want more screen real estate or need it is 24 in enough sharper images even if it's not all that noticeable to you is that something that's really necessary and if you're a photographer that might be one scenario where you could get away with this but you might want that studio display so I just want to take a second though and talk a little bit about the perceived design stagnation at least in terms of externals right it looks the same even the same colors as were offered before but what would you really change about this thing other than maybe the screen size right maybe you would like a 27in screen but this thing is so thin it looks so good it sounds so good and it's got the M3 inside what is there to change for people complaining about design stagnation actually Apple does do have some patents for like a foldable iMac concept with a folding glass panel on the bottom and they've also got a touchscreen iMac concept patented as well but you can't go by the patents sometimes those come to fruition sometimes they don't they're just kind of covering their bases exploring all the options for the price in Apple's lineup this thing is very very attractive actually attractive looks really good but what you get for the price is hard to argue with all right thanks for watching today's unboxing and first impressions video again review coming up so get subscribed I've also got got the brand new 16in 2023 M3 Max in hand the new space Black Edition I'm testing that all week too so I'll be letting you know my first one a we Thoughts with that machine as well don't forget to check out the course don't forget to check out our newsletter if you haven't got in on that you're really missing out I'll link that up for you down below too and I'll catch you in the next video laterhey it's Chris the new M3 iMac is here today I'm going to unbox it and kind of go
