AirPods 3 & AirPods Pro 2 — Reacting to Next-Gen Leak Bombs!

The AirPods 3: A Slew of Reports and Renders

As we approach the release of Apple's next-generation AirPods, reports and renders have been flooding the tech community with information about what to expect from these new earbuds. Sponsored by Skillshare, this article will delve into all the details we know so far, starting with the latest first-hand look at the AirPods 3.

Fresh Renders from GizmoChinashow the Final Version of the AirPods 3

The latest renders coming from what are claimed to be supply chain sources show that the AirPods 3 will have a design similar to the current AirPods Pro. The images reveal a more elongated top part and the addition of silicon tips, which is a notable departure from the traditional AirPods case. The render also shows the shorter stem, designed to reduce "brain drip" and make the earbuds more comfortable to wear.

These renders are in line with previous reports from 52 Audio, which added that the pressure relieving system from the current generation AirPods Pro will be retained on the AirPods 3. The silicon tips seem to be identical to those found on the current AirPods Pro, and it's possible that they may also come in a wider variety of materials.

Designing Earbuds for Everyone

The design of the updated AirPods is expected to be similar to the AirPods Pro, with the exception of the stem. This change is likely to be welcomed by many users who have found the traditional AirPods case too bulky. The addition of silicon tips and a shorter stem aims to provide a more comfortable fit for users, while also addressing concerns about "brain drip" that have plagued some users.

However, not everyone will be pleased with this design choice. Some users may prefer the on-top-of-the-ear style of traditional EarPods and AirPods, which may be seen as a regression for those who enjoy the current design. Apple has always made an effort to create products that suit as many people as possible, and it's likely that they will aim to make the AirPods 3 appealing to users with varying preferences.

A More Affordable Option?

Rumors suggest that the AirPods 3 may fall within a lower price point than expected, potentially under $99. This would be a significant departure from Apple's current pricing strategy and could lead to the creation of an entry-level AirPods SE product, priced at around $99.

This idea is supported by an earlier report from TF International Securities analyst Kuo Ming-Chi, who predicted that the design of the AirPods 3 would be different from the AirPods Pro. The possibility of a more affordable option raises questions about how this will affect Apple's product lineup and pricing strategy in the future.

A New Direction for AirPods Pro?

If Apple decides to put the design of the AirPods Pro into the non-pro, amateur version, it leaves the question of what will become of the AirPods Pro 2. Reports suggest that the next-generation AirPods Pro may have a radical new design, possibly even without a stem. This change would be a significant departure from the current design and could include features such as zero "brain drip" coming out of your ear.

The question remains how much technology will be carried over from the H1 chip currently found in the AirPods Pro to the upcoming AirPods Pro 2, and what sensors and batteries can be incorporated into a smaller design. This is an exciting prospect for fans of the AirPods Pro series, who are eager to see how Apple continues to innovate and improve their products.

In conclusion, the latest reports and renders suggest that the AirPods 3 will have a similar design to the current AirPods Pro, with notable departures such as a shorter stem and silicon tips. While this may not be to everyone's taste, it aims to provide a more comfortable fit for users. The possibility of an entry-level AirPods SE product at a lower price point adds another layer of complexity to Apple's product lineup and pricing strategy. As always, fans of the AirPods Pro series can look forward to seeing how Apple continues to innovate and improve their products in the future.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- New AirPods 3,we've got renders, we've got art. We've got a slew of reports. Some are going to makeyou super, super happy, and others might justreally, really piss you off.Sponsored by Skillshare.Only a small percentageof you watching right noware actually subscribed to the channel. So do me a solid, hit that button and bell,so we can build the biggestand best community in tech together. With people like Jon Prosser sayingthat the AirPods 3 arebasically good to go,Apple could drop them atan event later this month,or in a press release at any time.I figured it was a good time to goover everything we think we know so far, starting with the latest first.Memento style, with GizmoChinasharing some really fresh renders comingfrom what they say are the supply chain, showing what they sayis the final version. And these look exceptionallylike the AirPods Pro,the current AirPods Pro,including the wide version of the case, shorter, more angled stem,so they don't quite look likeyour brain is dripping outof your ears quite so much, but also the more elongated top partand the addition of silicon tips. Now, those aren't shown in this renderbut the part where theywould connect to the AirPods, but I think it's safe to assumethat that is where the tips will go.And I know that's going to be great newsto a lot of people, myself included, because the traditional AirPods, the original AirPods, going all the way back to the EarPods, the one that Jony Ive and teammeticulously studied the earsof thousands and thousands of peopleto find that one platocian idealfor what an in-ear shape should be.But for me and my Brazilian jujitsuand judo mangled ears, they just, they never fit. They always fell out,the left one a little bit betterthan the right one,but not so much that I could use themfor long periods of time. And the AirPods Pro arebetter, not perfect, and I'll get to that in a minute, but a lot better. But for other people, just the idea of putting silicon tipsor any tip inside their earis either annoying or just painful, and they vastly prefer, they just much preferthe on top of the ear,in ear style of the traditionalEarPods and AirPods. And so for them, this would be a really big regression. So I guess hope beyond hopethat Apple has something here that willat least partially suitas many people as possible. They're never going tobe perfect for everybodybut I always feel like it's Apple's job,it's Apple's duty, because they make so few products,to make the few products that they makesuit as many people as possible. And these images are in linewith what we saw from 52 Audio, and basically what therumors have been sayingfor a good long while now, although 52 Audio added thatthey'll be keeping thepressure relieving systemfrom the current generation AirPods Pro,and those images do showthe silicon tips that purportedlywill go along with the AirPods 3,pretty much identicalto the current silicon tipsthat go with the AirPods Pro,and that just makes thekind of sense that does, even if I still think a lotof people would prefera wider variety of tips, even if they're sold as extras, and a wider variety of materials, you know, not just the silicon tips, but something like foam tips as well. And yeah, absolutely, these aren't the usual top shelf sources. So, spoilereat emptor, but they do follow on previous reportsfrom Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Debby Wu,who said that the designof the updated AirPodswould be similar to the AirPods Prowith the shorter stem, ear tips, also better battery life, but no noise cancellation. And that also makes sense, given I think the expectation isthat these will fall broadly in linewith the kind of pricepoint of the AirPods. So Apple is going to have to reduce someof the features, not in software, like I think the fear is that Applejust willfully withholds featuresto make artificial differentiation. But I think in terms ofthe number and qualityand role of the microphonesand various sensorsthat they're currently usingto provide very verygood noise cancellationand transparency mode on the AirPods Pro,not having to include and do all of thaton the AirPods 3 would indeed save moneyand get them into that price point, that sweet spot, which I think some of usstill hope they go under, like maybe keep theAirpods 2 on the market, even after the AirPods 3 come outat an even lower price, like maybe a $99 price point.I think that would be a terrificsort of AirPods SEposition for entry-level,super entry level AirPods, but for things like that,we're just going to have to wait and seebecause Apple has gone in a varietyof directions with stufflike that in the past. And it also builds onan even earlier reportfrom TF International Securities analyst.Kuo Ming-Chi, which yes, that is how he writes his namein traditional Chineseon his actual reports, who said pretty much the same thing. So that paints not a perfect, not 100% for sure pictureof the AirPods 3,but a very likely pictureof what we're going to be gettingon Apple's next generation AirPods, and it does raise the question thatif Apple puts the designfrom the AirPods Prointo the AirPods 3, non-pro, amateur, what is that going toleave for the AirPods Pro,for the AirPods Pro 2that are presumably coming,if not at the same time, then at some point thisyear or early next. And the answer to that seemsto be so far,at least based on the reportingby people like Mark Gurman, Debby Wu,and Kuo Ming-Chi that they're going to gofor an even more radical design, something that may noteven include the stem.So you'll have like zero brain drippagecoming out of your ear.Something that is much more in the ear, but, you know, my question remainshow much of the AirPods Pro technology, how much of that system and package, that 10 core audio unit, currently on the H1,may be moving into an H2 specificallyfor an even smaller AirPods Pro 2,how much of that, of thesensors, of the battery, can Apple cram intosomething that is essentiallyjust the bud and no stem? And I
