New Porsche Cayman GT4 RS - track review _ evo

The Porsche GT4 RS: A Driving Machine Like No Other

The new Porsche GT4 RS is one of the most exciting cars on the market, and we're lucky to have the chance to experience it firsthand at the Anglesey Circuit. With its stunning looks and incredible performance capabilities, this car has already garnered a reputation as one of the best driver's cars on the planet.

As I put on my helmet and settle into the cockpit, I'm immediately struck by the sheer power and aggression of the engine. The 500 horsepower unit is incredibly responsive, and the way it launches out of the gate is simply breathtaking. But it's not just the engine that makes this car special - the entire package is designed to deliver an unparalleled driving experience.

I take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the car, admiring its sleek lines and aerodynamic design. The GT4 RS is a true masterpiece of engineering, with every detail carefully considered to optimize performance and handling. And it's not just about looks - this car is built for speed and agility, with a chassis that's both precise and confident.

As I hit the track, I'm immediately struck by the level of grip and traction on offer. The tires are biting beautifully, and the car feels like it's glued to the road as I push it hard through the corners. But even at such high speeds, the GT4 RS remains remarkably stable and predictable, thanks in no small part to its advanced aero package.

One of the things that strikes me most about this car is just how much more aggressive it feels than its standard GT4 counterpart. The engine is louder, the gearbox is quicker, and the overall sense of urgency is palpable. It's as if the RS badge has given permission for Porsche to let the beast out of the bag, and the result is a driving experience that's truly in a league of its own.

Of course, no discussion of the GT4 RS would be complete without mentioning its gearbox. The PDK transmission is a marvel of modern engineering, delivering lightning-quick shifts with barely any driver input required. It's a truly magical thing to watch, as the gears snap through with barely any sound or lag - it's like having an extra pair of hands in the cockpit.

But even with all these incredible features, I have to admit that my mind keeps wandering back to the age-old debate: do I prefer a manual gearbox? As a lifelong enthusiast of driving, there's no denying the joy and connection that comes from shifting gears manually. But with this car, it feels almost unnecessary - the PDK transmission is so seamless and intuitive that it's hard to imagine going back.

As we put in a few more laps around the circuit, I have to say that my initial reservations are quickly forgotten. The GT4 RS is an absolute blast to drive, with every feature working together in perfect harmony to deliver an experience that's truly unforgettable. It's not just about speed - it's about the thrill of the drive itself, the feeling of connection and flow that comes from being fully immersed in the machine.

And yet, despite all its incredible capabilities, there's one thing that really stands out to me about this car: its sheer simplicity. In an era where cars are often loaded with unnecessary features and gadgets, the GT4 RS is a breath of fresh air. It's just a driver's car at heart - a raw, unadulterated machine that lets you get behind the wheel and experience what it's like to drive something truly exceptional.

As I climb out of the cockpit for the final time, I'm still grinning from ear to ear. The Porsche GT4 RS is one of those rare cars that makes you feel truly alive - it's an experience that's hard to put into words, but easy to remember. And as I watch this incredible machine disappear around the corner, I know that I'll be dreaming about it for weeks to come.

But before we go, let's talk about what really matters: performance. Because when you're pushing a car like the GT4 RS to its limits, every little bit counts. The engine, of course, is the star of the show - 500 horsepower of raw, unadulterated power that launches this machine from 0-60 in just under four seconds.

But it's not just the engine itself - it's also how it works with the gearbox to deliver a truly exceptional driving experience. The PDK transmission is seamlessly integrated into the car's systems, delivering lightning-fast shifts with barely any driver input required. And when you do need to shift manually, it's still incredibly smooth and intuitive - a true testament to Porsche's engineering prowess.

One of the things that I love about this car is how well it communicates with the driver. When you push it hard through the corners, the steering responds beautifully - it's as if the car is directly linked to your every move. And when you're cruising down the straight, the smoothness and refinement are simply intoxicating.

Of course, no driving experience would be complete without a few laps around the track's infamous hairpin corner. This is where the GT4 RS truly comes alive - the engine roaring as I push it hard through the tight confines of the turn. It's an exhilarating feeling that never gets old, and one that I'll always treasure.

As I make my way back to the pits for the final time, I'm still grinning from ear to ear. The Porsche GT4 RS is an absolute blast to drive - a true masterclass in performance, handling, and driving dynamics. And as I climb out of the cockpit for the last time, I know that this car has left an indelible mark on my heart.

The verdict? If you're looking for a driving experience like no other, look no further than the Porsche GT4 RS. It's a car that will challenge and thrill you in equal measure - a true testament to Porsche's engineering prowess and its commitment to creating machines that truly put drivers first.

are the chances you get few hours with a new gt4 rs and the heavens open it's going to be very very slippery in fact i know it's very slippery because i just did a couple of exciting laps as you can see yeah it's kind of like that i mean that's a credit to the car right the way it communicates but you really can just feel it nibbling and as that grip level ebbs and flows as that grip level empty flows you really feel it through the steering oh i think all the way to nine whoa take the limiter i shrinked that straight isn't that amazing just listen to the way that revs 500 horsepower right talk serious stuff for a minute well we love the gt4 don't we 2019 evo car of the year great a great great thing a wonderful performance car but what strikes me about this rs version is just what a big step on it is in fact it's almost like a completely different car i mean that engine for a start not only is the performance so much higher but it gives it a completely different character just listen to that it's absolutely absolutely animalistic isn't it the way it responds to the throttle and the combination of it with that lower gearing is that is it's not just the engine it's the fact that and you notice this on the road the gearing it gives it so much more acceleration the whole process is so intense so yeah the engine the gearbox the way it flips on the downshifts all of those things are absolutely amazing they're so crisp somehow it's so much more immediate than if you're in a 911 because the engine is right there even with a helmet on that induction induction raw right behind your head is just it's just crazy it just absolutely frazzles your brain when you initially drive the car it's hard to actually see past it it's so all-consuming it's all you think of but of course as we'd expect like the standard gt4 the chassis is just fantastic the feeling through the steering wheel it's demanding in the sense that it's very precise it's incredibly confident spying i love the way it steers it's such a purity to it but to try and remember this as an electric steering rack and we've talked about how they don't give you that feedback but this is one of those cars where you really get a sense of of what's happening down at the tread blocks breaking exemplary wonderful feel through the pedal no problem at all do i miss it being a manual oh it's a tough question isn't it do i miss it being a manual i would always go for a manual gearbox and give them the chance with a car but i have to say with this engine the level of performance the crisps and crispness of the shifts easy for you to say adam it seems it just suits the pdk transmission so well i mean you would be so busy with a manual in terms of pushing the car harder well we really can't do that today i can't get to feel what that arrow might you know what difference that aero might do to the car and of course just how much raw grip it's got because what don't i like about this car adam come on think of something there's nothing i don't like about this car there really isn't it just encapsulates what i love about a great driver's car it's got that wonderful engine oh it's got this chassis balance and steering and this gearbox it looks like it does which i think is awesome and everything about it um youso hello everyone welcome to angle sea circuit we have well one of the cars that i'm
