MSI Stealth Pro

The MSI Stealth Pro is a gaming laptop that boasts an impressive array of features and specifications. On one side of the laptop, you'll find a USB 3.0 port, a Thunderbolt/Type-C port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a Mini DisplayPort. This versatility makes it easy to connect your favorite peripherals and displays. In contrast, the left side of the laptop features headphone and mic jacks, three USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, Ethernet, and a Kensington lock.

One of the standout features of the Stealth Pro is its keyboard design. The chiclet-style keyboard is designed for comfort, with a number pad that adds convenience to gaming sessions. Despite being packed tightly into the laptop's slim frame, the components are expertly managed, with the CPU sporting one fan and the GPU boasting two. This is notable, as many laptops in this category struggle to balance performance and heat management.

The Stealth Pro also boasts an M2 SSD slot, providing fast storage for your games and applications. However, the memory slots are located underneath the motherboard, making it challenging to upgrade or replace individual components. This may be a drawback for some users, particularly those who value modularity and customizability in their gaming laptops.

The laptop's weight and thickness make it an attractive option for travelers and gamers alike. Weighing less than four pounds and measuring 0.69 inches thick, the Stealth Pro is both portable and powerful. Moving on to synthetic benchmark performance, we can see that the Stealth Pro excels in Cinebench, producing high scores that stand out from its competitors.

In contrast, Adobe and office workloads may not be as impressive, with the Stealth Pro trailing behind other laptops in PC Mark testing. However, when it comes to gaming benchmarks, the Stealth Pro shines. With a range of titles tested at maximum settings, including Dirt Rally and Rise of the Tomb Raider, the laptop consistently delivers smooth performance.

One of the most significant advantages of the Stealth Pro is its battery life. Tested using Nvidia's Battery Rundown tests with Tomb Raider running at 30 frames per second, the laptop achieved an impressive 1 hour and 55 minutes of runtime. This is among the best of any 1060-based gaming laptops tested.

Thermal dissipation is also noteworthy, with the Stealth Pro producing the most heat of all the laptops in our testing suite. However, this is still well within safe limits, and the laptop's performance remains unaffected by high temperatures. To quantify this further, we used a thermal image camera to capture temperatures under load. Although some measurements were higher than expected due to the obstruction caused by the motherboard's design, they are not alarmingly high.

Finally, the Stealth Pro's display received mixed reviews from our testing suite. The contrast ratio was lacking at low brightness levels, while color and grayscale accuracy suffered in certain conditions. However, when set to 100% brightness, the display showed excellent results. Overall, this may be a disappointment for those prioritizing display quality above all else.

The MSI Stealth Pro is an exceptional value-based gaming laptop. With its impressive performance, sleek design, and versatility, it offers incredible bang for its buck at $1700. While it falls short in certain areas – particularly upgradeability and memory capacity – the Stealth Pro's strengths make it a compelling choice for gamers seeking a premium portable experience.

without that overbearing gaming aesthetic MSI stealth Pro it's got a 6700 HQ CPU a GTX 1060 GPU 256 gigabyte SSD and a 15 inch full HD display nothing spectacular here but pretty solid in a sleek package now you're gonna pay a little bit more than you do for most 1060 based gaming laptops but I know some of you will want to let's take a closer look the top of the stealth pro has a black into some of the gaming benchmarks we're gonna start with our synthetic benchmark performance so we're just gonna take a look at a couple of things here we're the stealth pro stands out and where it doesn't first Cinebench the self-produce it necessarily manhandle its competition because for the most part the scores are pretty close but it does squeak out a couple of wins here let's turn to our PC mark test where we're looking more at Adobe and office workloads and here the stealth Pro does okay but it loses out to the ACE whose GL 502 VM our test suite includes 11 gaming benchmarks now we cranked all the settings to the highest levels turn on all the details and for these 10 60 based laptops you'll probably end up wanting to turn a few of those things down maybe not play at the highest settings to get really smooth frame rates but we've tested at the highest levels to see which 10 60 laptops outperform the others in almost every game the stealth pro goes toe-to-toe with a similar offering from Asus it takes a slight lead and BioShock Infinite but then score slightly worse in dirt rally now in more demanding titles like rise the Tomb Raider like most of the laptops we test that stealth Pro doesn't quite hit that 60 frame per second mark but dialing down a few settings should get you a smooth playing experience now we like to look at all the performance numbers but ultimately you also have a portable machine it's got to have good battery life also and especially with the stealth pro your a lot of components into a really slim package so we want to see how well this laptop dissipates heat and finally you're kind of stuck with the display of this gaming laptop so we're going to test the quality of the display as well for battery testing we use Nvidia's battery rundown tests we use tomb raider at 30 frames per second and the laptop's battery boost feature the stealth pro is able to squeeze out almost two hours of battery life this is the best of all of the 1060 based gaming laptops that we've tested so far you get almost 2 hours of battery life to game on we test thermal dissipation in a couple of different ways first we use this Optus thermal image camera it's the pi/6 40 as with all of the laptops heat ramps up quickly under load we stress this out with fur mark when we see the most amount of heat here around the heat fins closest to the GPU however we had to capture our thermal images from beneath the motherboard between the GPU and CPU because of the way the heat sinks and heat pipes are obstructed so these measurements are maybe a little bit higher than we normally see still the stealth pro outputs the most heat of any of the laptops we've tested but nothing that's too dangerous finally display and here we use the spectra Cal C 6 colorimetry we're looking at a few things here first of all we want to see what the luminance levels are like we want to look at gamma value and we're gonna be looking at things like color accuracy and grayscale accuracy as well the contrast ratio with the stealth Pro is not as good at low brightness level but it's pretty good at a hundred percent brightness however display accuracy overall is a mixed bag color and grayscale accuracy or certainly drawbacks here we've seen the same weaknesses from most of the full HD gaming laptops that we've tested the MSI stealth pro is an excellent value based gaming laptop at seventeen hundred dollars though it's a bit more expensive the asus strix 15 which cost $1400 it's less than stellar display in the lack of upgrade ability and memory and on the
