How to Transfer Apps and Games from Internal Storage to Micro SD Card on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
To start, you'll need a micro SD card. I'm using a Kingston 64 GB UHS 1 class 10 card, but there are loads of others available. All you need to do is put the SD card on the SIM card tray and pop it back in the phone.
Moving Apps to Micro SD Card: A Comparison
Before we dive into transferring apps to the micro SD card, let's see if there's any difference in app launching times between opening them on internal storage versus external storage. I'll use Modern Combat 5 as an example, as it's quite a big game at just under a gigabyte. Before we transfer it to the micro SD card, I want to test how long it takes to open the app.
I've got a timer here, and I'm going to start Modern Combat 5 with nothing running in the background. It's following a fresh restart of the phone. Let's see how long it takes. Right now... just over 13 seconds, 13.32 seconds. We'll come back to this later when the app is on the micro SD card and see if there's any difference.
Now that we've tested the launching time, let's move the app to the SD card. To do this, you need to open the settings menu, scroll down a bit, and then click on "Applications" followed by "Application Manager." You'll see a list of all your apps, which you can scroll through.
I'm going to go down to Modern Combat 5 as I mentioned earlier, since that's the example I'll be using. As you can see, it's currently using internal storage. Tap on "Storage" and then... yeah, it shows up. So tap on "Change" and then we can select SD card. It takes a few moments to transfer the app, and obviously, depending on the size of the file, dictates how long that takes.
When you're ready, tap "Move," and it will start exporting once that's finished. Now we can see that it's using the external storage. That's successfully transferred, and Modern Combat 5 is now on the micro SD card. The big question is: is it any quicker? Is it any slower using the SD card storage as opposed to internal storage?
Let's bring back my trusty Galaxy S7 Edge and its timer to see if there's any difference. I'll launch Modern Combat 5 again, with nothing running in the background, following a fresh restart of the phone. Okay, so... 13.49 seconds. That's just 0.17 seconds longer than when I booted it on internal storage. I think that's within the margin of error considering I'm judging this by eye.
So, what can we conclude from this test? There isn't much difference in launching times between using the micro SD card and internal storage. You may as well transfer big apps and games to the SD card to save some room on your internal storage. It's also worth making sure that the camera stores photos and videos on the SD card, since they can take up a lot of space, especially when recording in 4K.
One of the benefits of the new S7 phones is that you can record unlimited 4K video; it's not restricted to just five minutes like it was before. So, it's definitely worth putting your camera settings on the SD card.

the SIM card tray and pop it back in the phone right so let's get started moving some apps I'm going to use Modern Combat 5 as an example as it's quite a big game at just under a gigabyte but before we do transfer it to the micro SD card I want to see if there's any difference in the app launching times between opening it on the internal storage and then on the micro SD to see if it's any slower little bit and then click on applications followed by application manager you'll see a list of all your apps which you can scroll through now I'm going to go down to mod Combat 5 as I say cuz that's the example I'll be using so as you can see 0.93 GB quite a big file so tap on storage and then as you can see it's currently using internal storage so then tap change and then we can select SD card it takes a few moments to transfer the app and obviously depending on the size of the file uh dictates how long that takes but when you're ready tap move and it will start exporting once that's
