The company's ability to work with state-of-the-art instructors and developers on communicating data science and development issues that they're incredibly passionate about makes it an attractive option for many. The team at Data Camp builds great data science courses with the best instructors in the world, and it's literally my job to talk with the best minds in data science and the art community.
A Typical Day at Data Camp
My typical day starts out with me jumping out of bed excited to do what I'm going to do. The first few months working at Data Camp were mostly about creating my own course, which was a great way to get up to speed with the course development process. I picked a topic that I was already passionate about and ideally filled a gap in our curriculum. This allowed me to learn all about the different tools that we use to build courses and understand the course creation process.
Getting Involved with Course Development
Now, my main task is to get in touch with the best instructors in the field and guide them through the course creation process. We agree on what will be covered in the course, and then I create the exercises for the course, which can be seen in our platform. The last part of the process is recording the videos in our recording studio.
Why I Decided to Work at Data Camp
I decided to work for Data Camp because I was already deeply invested in educating scientists on data analysis and statistical methods. You get a lot of emails about what we can do better, which made me want to work with the company even more. What everyone likes about Data Camp is incredibly attractive – reaching over half a million people already and counting. The company is an early-stage startup that's growing quickly, and the future looks promising.
Data Camp Culture
The data camp culture is fantastic. I didn't get to see it firsthand when I first applied for the job, but after joining the team, I can attest to how great it is. Working with a bunch of interesting, curious, and slightly odd people pushes me to be strong technically and build a really strong network within the data science community.
