**Gadget Match: Poco X3 Unboxing and Hands-On**
I'm Michael Josh, and welcome to Gadget Match. Today, we're putting the Poco X3 through its paces, unboxing and getting up close and personal with this affordable gaming phone that promises a lot for its price.
**Unboxing the Poco X3**
If you're a Poco fan, this yellow box reveal should look very familiar. Inside, we find another yellow box with a SIM card ejector tool, user guides, and a clear jelly case. Further inside, some stickers catch our eye, along with a note that says "Exactly what you need". Oh, and there's one more thing - the Poco X3 itself. We'll take a closer look at this later.
**The Poco X3: First Impressions**
The Poco X3 is like many other smartphones we've seen this year - its back panel feels like glass, but it's made of polycarbonate plastic with gentle curves and a strip of diagonal lines down the middle. The text "Poco" is emblazoned across the top in large letters, and there's an odd-shaped camera module on the back. The phone itself feels premium enough, although the glass back is a huge fingerprint magnet.
**Up Front: Display and Selfie Camera**
Looking up front, we find a display with a punch hole selfie camera that's different from the all-display pop-up camera of the F2 Pro. No fingerprint scanner is present underneath the display instead - it's built into the power button. Unlock times are fast and reliable, and there's also dual stereo speakers for audio enthusiasts.
**The Camera: Not Perfect**
One area where the Poco X3 falls short is in its camera performance. While we're spoiled by high-quality cameras on many flagship phones, the X3's quad camera system consists of a 64-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The addition of two megapixel macro and depth sensors seems unnecessary to some of us.
**Camera Performance**
We took some sample shots around Brooklyn while using the Poco X3, and the results are... decent. Photos turn out all right, but they're not particularly impressive, especially when the sun goes down. Night mode has improved, though, and it looks even better than on the Poco F2 Pro. The phone's camera is slow, and we can't help but feel that there's room for improvement.
**The Battery: A Real Strength**
One area where the Poco X3 truly shines is in its battery life. With a 5160 milliampere-hour capacity, it has plenty of juice to last through the day. We promised two days of moderate use from this phone, and we weren't disappointed. Even with heavy gaming, the X3's battery lasted for more than 24 hours.
**Fast Charging: The Final Verdict**
Finally, there's the fast charging. With a 33-watt power brick bundled in the box, we were able to get our battery from zero to 62 percent in just 30 minutes - a full charge took around 65 minutes. That's impressive for this price point.
**Conclusion: The Poco X3 - A Solid Choice?**
So is the Poco X3 your gadget match? While it's camera disappoints us, we have to keep reminding ourselves that this is a $250 smartphone. And even then, we can't help but think about the excellent camera on the Pixel 4a, which is also available in markets where the X3 is sold. Fast refresh rates may mean less to some of you than others, and they're hard to come by at this price point.
That being said, if you're into gaming and are on a budget, the Poco X3 is a solid choice. The massive battery and 33-watt charger that comes in the box make it an attractive option. However, if you can spend a little bit more, the Pixel 4a and iPhone SE offer a more well-rounded experience out of the box.
