Another AppStore is Now Available on iPhone - HERE it is

The Alt Store: A Third-Party App Store for iPhones

I have to admit, I never thought I'd see the day when Apple would allow a third-party App Store onto the iPhone. But here it is, and it's called the alt store. This is a third-party App Store that you can install on your iPhone, allowing you to download apps from a third-party source and install them directly onto your device without having to use Apple's own app store.

The alt store has been available on iPhones for years as a sideload project, but it's now officially live and can be installed on compatible devices. However, this version of the alt store is not available worldwide just yet; it's only available in the EU region. This is largely due to pressure from users who want more options when it comes to installing apps on their devices.

The main argument behind Apple's original App Store was to provide a safe and secure way for users to download and install apps, protecting them from malware, spyware, and other types of security threats. However, with the rise of Mac OS, which allows users to download apps from anywhere, Apple has argued that the iPhone and iPad are more accessible and therefore more prone to these types of attacks.

In this video, we're going to take a closer look at the alt store and get your thoughts on third-party app stores in general. We'll explore what's available in the alt store, how it works, and whether or not you'd prefer using it over Apple's own App Store.

One of the first things you notice when you launch the alt store is its icon; it looks similar to a small arrow pointing towards the left. When you click on this icon, you're taken to the main page of the app store. From here, you can browse through various categories, including news, sources, and apps that are not available in Apple's App Store.

One example of an app that is not available in Apple's App Store is the Delta emulator, which was recently approved for release by Apple. However, the alt store has a wider range of apps available, including virtual machines that allow you to run third-party operating systems directly on your device. It's likely that the catalog will continue to grow, with more and more developers offering their apps for download.

In addition to browsing through various categories, you also have access to tabs that show all the apps you've installed, as well as settings where you can customize your experience. This is a great feature for users who want to keep track of what they're installing on their device and make sure everything is up-to-date.

So, how do you install the alt store on your iPhone? It's relatively straightforward. You'll need to be running iOS 17.4 or later, and then head to the alt store website, where you can click "Get" to download and install the app. Keep in mind that this version of the alt store is only available in the EU region, and you'll need to pay a small fee of around €150 to access it.

One important question to consider when using the alt store is whether or not Apple will continue to support third-party app stores in the future. While it's likely that they won't allow third-party app stores outside of the EU region, there's still some uncertainty surrounding this issue. Some users may prefer downloading apps from the alt store over Apple's own App Store, while others may stick with the traditional route.

For those who are unsure about using the alt store, I'd like to ask for your thoughts in a poll. Would you prefer downloading apps from the alt store or sticking with Apple's App Store?
