Percussion Party!

The Art of Percussion with Little Bits: A Collaboration with Kip

I've always been fascinated by percussion, but unfortunately, I never quite excelled at it. However, my friend Nico, who is an avid drummer on the Skins, has shown me that playing the drums can be a lot of fun. With that in mind, it's time to host a percussion party, and I'm excited to collaborate with Little Bits, the easiest way to learn and invent with electronics.

To give my fans a special gift, I partnered with Little Bits, who kindly agreed to send me a synth kit for free. This kit is packed with an incredible 60 modules that can be combined in trillions of ways, making it easy to create unique sounds without any soldering required. The beauty of these modules lies in their ease of use, as they snap together using magnets, allowing for endless possibilities.

For our percussion party, we'll start by assembling three essential modules: the power module, which uses a 9-volt battery or AC adapter; the micro sequencer with four variable pots; and the splitter that sends the signal in two different directions. We'll also be utilizing four additional modules: the random module, which generates noise or random voltage; the envelope, which has attack and delay effects; the filter module, which cuts off and changes Peak; and the syn speaker for output, featuring a small efficient speaker and a headphone out jack.

Once we've snapped our first three modules together, we'll add the random filter envelope and speaker modules to one end of the splitter. These four modules will come together to create an incredible sound that's unlike anything I've ever heard before. To get started, we'll snap everything together, and then we'll power it up, adjusting all of the controls to unleash an endless variety of sounds.

As we adjust the filters and envelope, we can actually get a sound that resembles a snare drum. By tweaking the filters, cut off and Peak changes the timber, while the tempo is adjusted with the speed dial on the micro sequencer as well as the Rhythm. I spent an entire hour playing with this setup because it was so much fun. This is just percussion with Little Bits – you can build an entire synth band.

In fact, Little Bits are really awesome, and they're offering my subscribers $20 off their first kit. So, if you want to check out Little Bits, go to littlebits.com, use the promo code Kip K, and you'll receive $20 off your first kit plus free shipping to the US. They have over 60 modules that can be combined in trillions of ways, making it an incredible resource for music enthusiasts.

As a special treat, I'm giving away one free synth kit, which is valued at $159. All you need to do is click on the link on the screen or in the description, put in your name and email address, and I'll choose someone at random to send them this amazing kit. The giveaway ends March 31st, 2015, so don't miss out on this incredible opportunity.

I'd like to thank Little Bits for their generosity and support of my channel. Without them, this percussion party wouldn't have been possible. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time. Good luck in the giveaway, and let's keep making music with these amazing modules!
