Upgrading my 2JZ E36 for FD Atlanta

The System: A Direct Fit for Control Arms

The system is molded to fit perfectly with the bottom of this control arm, allowing it to sit snugly and maintain its position. This design enables the stack to sit atop the chassis, creating a seamless integration that showcases the level of detail in the assembly.

A Hidden Component

Upon closer inspection, a muffler becomes visible in the center of the system, along with small dump pipes and exhaust tips. The complexity of this design is evident, as it features multiple components working together in harmony. This attention to detail sets the stage for an intricate and well-crafted system.

Spring Rates and Length

When examining the spring rates, a length of 210mm is noted, followed by a spring rate of 13. Although the first number remains unclear, its significance becomes apparent as it relates to the overall performance of the system. The spring rates demonstrate a focus on precision and control, allowing for optimal suspension settings.

A Comprehensive System

The assembly boasts an array of components, including coilovers with adjustable height controls. This feature enables the driver to fine-tune the ride height while maintaining the desired level of damping. Furthermore, the electronic shock absorber system offers comprehensive control over steering responsiveness and overall vehicle stability.

Upgrading the Rear End

A crucial upgrade for this BMW is the installation of SPLs tow arms, traction arms, and upper camber arms. These components are essential in addressing a common issue with stock rubber bushings – they can become brittle and cause alignment problems when subjected to stress from power and traction. The SPLs system offers a high-quality solution, featuring titanium hardware and spherical joints that eliminate the risk of premature wear or rattles.

Drifting and Performance

When it comes to drifting, this BMW's performance takes center stage. With approximately 100-150 pounds more wheel travel at 5700 RPM and 100 foot-pounds more torque, the vehicle becomes well-suited for high-performance driving. The trade-off is a loss of around 100 horsepower under 5000 RPM, which may seem significant but remains relatively minor compared to the gains achieved in terms of power and responsiveness.

Turbo Upgrade

A key component in the performance upgrade is the new turbocharger, which will be tested as soon as possible. This smaller turbo setup has proven its reliability despite being subjected to high-performance demands. The author looks forward to putting it through its paces on the 3.4-liter engine, expecting a positive outcome.

The Next Steps

As the assembly nears completion, several components remain to be installed, including a new clutch and potential bumper upgrades. The author expresses excitement about testing the new clutch and sharing footage of its performance in subsequent videos. With this final stage of preparation underway, the anticipation builds for the next installment of the E36 project.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwe're back from our rally Adventure I had so much fun in Austin and it was really cool to see all the positive feedback on the video the absolute best case scenario if you're someone in the YouTube space is when you can do something that's really fun that you enjoy and the video still gets good views and the people still like it you know I've already been dead set on doing more rally stuff and I expected a lot of the incar footage to not be boring but like kind of like the drift stuff get feedback of like you know this was like cool to watch but like I don't need that much of it but the fact that there was so much excitement about it makes me even more excited than I already am to go do more of it so uh just want to touch SP on that was really cool so got the car back from Austin first thing of course it was filthy and we wanted to see did this deack ppf hold up so we brought over the wash bay and did the thing after unloading the car doing a quick inspection of course it was dirty but uh still in pretty good shape first thing we did was sprayed it off and the stack Dynomite actually has ceramic built in it and surprisingly a lot of the dirt just kind of blew right off where I almost didn't even need to use soap hit the wheels with a little bit of Grio heavy duty whe heel cleaner foam the car down tried to lift whatever contaminants were left before running over it with a wash mitt then of course the last stage of rinsing you can see when it came to drying the car um the Ceramics built into the dynamite ppf from St made it extremely easy uh the end result amazing there was pretty much no scratches in the car and if there were any self-healing properties would just kind of let them bake right out in the sun so overall great rally car still looks great I feel like the video kind of speaks for itself but obviously everything is still still in beautiful condition the front bumper that's a whole another scenario uh maybe we'll need to I kind of want to drift Stitch it and then get another bumper and then maybe this will be like the bumper where I use with the light bar since one's already cut up and the other one will be a stock bumper um I'd like to make a full video diving into this car kind of talking about some of the things that broke some of the things that need to get improved that's not going to be our Focus today because Formula Drift Atlanta is right around the corner if you didn't catch my announcement on Instagram I have very bad news essentially the bridge collapse in Baltimore caused a chain of events that resulted in The Layover of the container that contained my Europe E36 getting postponed so the car that we sent over to go compete in drift Masters at Spain at the first round wasn't going to make it until like two weeks after the event so uh we basically decided as a team the best thing we could possibly do for our sponsors and for you guys is to still show up but rather than show up in Spain show up in Atlanta because we had the blue E36 and uh it proved to be pretty competitive in Long Beach but uh for Atlanta is going to need some extra sauce so I'll show you what we did first and foremost you might remember me blown into a couple walls a couple times Atlanta that won't be a problem but in Orlando it will be because we got to drag the wall there so rather than having to make poor Josh continually ref fiberglass my trunk in five minute calls we went over to drift HQ and picked up an hgk carbon Kevlar trunk skin so very very flexible I could probably bash this thing into the wall jillion times and it would be fine um look at that also very light I add a wing to it that makes it heavy but got to have the wing to look cool so that was one of the improvements of course redoing the rear crash structure that I absolutely demolished many many times but the most important thing I guess we'll we'll start with the clutch because that was the big issue that we had in Long Beach so this is the current clutch we use uh it's a twin disc it's not the biggest diameter I want to say it's like A8 or an 8 and 1/2 two options I could go up to a 10 in the problem with going up to a 10 in is you had a lot of extra weight I actually had the 10 in on this car and I didn't like how long it took to get the car to rev up the other option was to basically add an extra friction which would convert it into a triple disc and the cool thing about that is we get to reuse all the parts that we already have since this is the same clutch that I use in a lot of different cars it's not me now buying a bunch of new clutches um essentially this changes and we throw one more disc in there so that is the plan if you guys aren't familiar with how a clutch Works essentially going to a bigger diameter you add more surface area more area for it to grab and hold power if you go to a triple disc you're adding another disc and another friction in there that gives you again more surface area without expending the rotational Mass thus making it longer to rev up also another factor that comes into play is pressure you can add pressure and then that would also give you more clamping Force I already have a lot of pressure so that's not really an option most people get in my car and they're like bro I could tell you don't skip leg day I like it though um you guys might notice in some of my incar footage you'll often see me resting my foot on the clutch I assure you it's not a street car like you literally have to press the clutch so hard for it to do anything that I can kind of keep my foot there ready to go and in drifting when we do a lot of clutch kicks it's better than like s stepping the clutch all the time so that's the big thing the other big thing is the spoolie thing in the engine bay so um I can put a I'll put a clip on the screen here um while I was away Freddy came over and he actually did some turbo testing with a bunch of different options a bunch of different ARs and we wound up going to the g401 50 so with a small sacrifice in the mid-range we were able to make about another 150 horsepower so this is right around the Thousand Mark now for this car I wouldn't have needed that for Long Beach I think for Long Beach the car had plenty of power Formula Drift Atlanta definitely uh can establish a gap if you have a higher power car going up that hill it makes a very very big difference um and I didn't want to show up there being outgun we know who our first battle is going to be it's going to be Matt Field he's got a fast car he's a fast driver so we got the bigger spoolie boy the cool thing is though this is still even though it's like the big turbo and I hated the big turbo on the S15 it's the uh not as big turbo as we ran on the S15 and this is a 34 so it'll spool it great um unfortunately though we did need to switch manifolds but we had RX manifolds on the Shelf finally I can use their 2J manifold uh I run g35s on pretty much everything and their manifold is a G40 flange this is their big daddy um so was pretty cool able to bolt on everything's accessible Johan had to refab the downpipe but um now the car makes more power so I'll probably end up be testing this later this week but for E36 updates that's the majority of it oh we got to rewrap the rear end too but I mean that's not like any exciting new update to you guys but good car I got my work cut out for me on this thing we've got a whole slew of parts and I've been obviously as you guys know traveling all over the world so even though the giveaway for the f80 is over in 2 weeks we'll still be making it even better than it already is so if you haven't entered yet every $5 you spend on lzmfg or drift HQ is going to get you entered for a chance to win this bad boy and $155,000 cash now I came back from Brazil and it reminded me how much I love pullup handbrakes and right-hand drive cars I don't know why my brain like in a left-hand drive car pull back is like my thing in a right-and drive car maybe it's from all my laps in the The Crest over at ebisu pullup just feels right so Sean's probably stoked that we're going to pull up he's a big pull up boy yeah you hear him over there um but uh I'm excited to wheel this car a little bit more I've got a special guest coming on Monday uh testing out their new build I feel like I should probably go uh go show go show it to you guys give you a little sneak peek but I'm I'm trying to like brainstorm right now like you might see the GT350 is in the shop this thing's getting some love the sedan's getting some love I'm like I got my friend coming over I'm like I want to I want to I want to give him rides and all the things I want to have fun I want to drift with him and um yeah I guess I'll I'll reveal friend now hey guys this is just a random thing I'm put in the middle of the video I always forget to ask you guys to like the video and it actually makes a really really big difference in making the video get seen by more people people including the people that are subscribed to me like yourself hopefully if you're not it's okay but I understand so I guess this is my weird way of just asking you maybe reminding you just to hit the like button real quick goes a long way and um thanks back to the video one of the objectives today is to pop over to HQ we've got a pretty special project brewing in the shop you guys might know about it from other people's social media we're going to pop over and I'll give you guys a little sneak peek over at the HQ shop you might recognize this 350Z tjz is here and this all kind of started at a conversation at the ton no not tto Bakersfield World Tour essentially TJ had this car here which is like what would you say DTE like 70% of the way there it was a good car but not there the biggest problem is like if TJ were to go to a competition and compete this car its biggest crutch in my opinion would probably be like the drivetrain pretty much the engine and the rear end were not up to like a pro car spec and as you guys know he's literally been competing in his 370Z which is a great car but he kind of needs to fill that gap of having a pro car to be able to drive his Pro car friends he's building his Supra into a pro car but that's not going to be for some time down the road he already had this built motor literally in our shop sitting on a pallet so I was like TJ just let us basically put your engine in your car for you we'll put a nice fancy Garrett G35 900 on it it'll make more power it'll feel better and then you'll at least know it's going to be reliable so you can go have fun but we didn't stop there so yeah in order to make it like the car was very very well buil from the time that it got buil like I have no no complaints like we open it up we're like wow this is actually nicely built but it was outdated so we decided to go step by step change what we could see and then make it like that much better so we did a treadstone in cooler the G35 900 that Adam mentioned we changed the lines all the vibrant goodies put a bigger alternative for him KRC setup so that he doesn't go through belts popping and everything like that this was already it didn't have a poy system here so it was like it was just natural that we did that so in the front Chris tucked all the wires it was a mess here that was the only thing that we didn't like from the the original build but we changed all the harness made it tighter put all the vibrant goodies Funk Motorsports to cover everything that we could that's all in the front so we went on the back he had PB mria in we put a entirely new wisfb Reen on the car for him good stuff on the back you could see like damn he got the good huh all the good stuff so we did a pwr with two brushless Spa fans on this this is what we've been running all the cars pretty much this is the best of the best that you can get like this thing here pushes over 4,000 CFM controlled by the ECU very I couldn't even get my car over 160 on a Dyno that's how good this thing is so we were like controlling the fans to keep it low we put the latest radium cell with the FCX inside of them with three DW 400s I believe on this car and they built this car in 2 weeks rebuilt it in 2 weeks new exhaust what's that dog the dog man let's let's go Bo got the dog so now he's got the dog in him full dog that is so he's got the new quick change best in the best can handle 1500 horsepower he can change the gears on the flight we put whatever gear that we we started off with so that he knows like where to go from there we kind of ratioed it based on what whatever was here for him to like feel comfortable within the gears but obviously this this over here gives you a big advantage in competition rise Fab knocked this out of the park for us in like 3 days 2 weeks to rebuild my car don't show my car we haven't even showed the final product but 2 weeks to rebuild my car and two weeks on this day and Crick Cricket Chris and Donnie knocked it out of the park it's essentially one exhaust away from being done it basically went from like a Grassroots car with a sequential transmission to now this is pretty much a full-fledged Prospect car absolutely power-wise it's going to be capped out around 750 wheel he could definitely make closer to what I make in the E36 with this but I wanted him to run the G35 900 because it's going to be super quick super responsive and quite frankly I think for a lot of the stuff that he's doing out in California this will be plenty of power and it like won't be a crazy departure from what he's used to driving um this sick just because there's so much bolt-on parts for it for sure we did also electric pump for him on the back he had like a little pool pump I'm not sure what he was using I've never seen one of those but this here Mair this will shoot water h 100 ft in the air so that will keep the car pool pump yeah it wasn't it wasn't like the normal one it looked it looks strange I never seen that before it's it's on a rack there this this exact one here has been on my car for 7 years and never failed it's like the best that you can get in a game is this the all the old stuff so this is all the old stuff so if you want to know what we actually changed this is everything well and the the motor too is that in here no the motor's for sale you guys haven't bought it we got a 100 requests for it somebody freaking buy the motor Cash Out stock vvti 2J with manifold and a turbo and a GTX um 3582 yeah pretty good buy it yeah let's go we need we need Sushi money do we get the money or TJ get the money I mean both well we get to eat with his money all right the whole process and everything tearing down the car and all the parts and stuff that's used if you guys want to know more detail obviously you can find on the drift HQ Channel um I'm stoked that we were in a position to be able to help TJ out he's a phenomenal driver I love seen him rip in his 370Z and it killed me to see this car literally sitting idle on a lift just because it kind of fell into that gray area where now he'll be able to use it for all this stuff and Shred now we did announce on Instagram that the winner of the podium one simulator giveaway was Garrett Brady but I didn't include it in the video cuz there was a very interesting thing that happened essentially Garrett didn't have space for the simulator and he was working with us to basically build the simulator that would be easy for him to sell it was going to take a while to build the custom Simulator for him and we weren't sure what actually would be the best option for him to sell because you know someone who builds a simulator is usually building it to their liking so dwarte came up with the idea of literally offering him one of two cars that he had actively listed for sale that was very similar to the value that it would have cost us to build the simulator that he wanted um so here's how that went D what's your offer here we are we have two beautiful cars at your disposal a rightand drive mint 30,000 Mi E36 non M3 manual swap kn we took that auto junked it and on our right side we have this beautiful Chaser also manual one JZ with all the drift Ms you can think of and it can take your family and new girlfriend kids in the back your girlfriend specifically yeah I don't know you have one you have one yeah one okay so you can take your girlfriend he doesn't he will after this is that a well what's it what is in this this is a this is a 323 so it's just a m52 okay 30,00 m one of four in the world in this spec it's individual color as I'm out of the bad with that California is never going to let me have that really so these are being sold for the pretty much the same price so this is your options it's valued at around what we would be paying for you a Sim it's a tough choice but sit in a Sim or drive the Sim this salesman number one what's behind door number two which one are you going to do there's no pressure he literally he like text me like I kid you not like an hour ago like hey I got an idea driven a right hand D car I don't know how that even works so it's the same thing the same thing but I like it's just it's weird you know yeah it's like you're on the right instead of the left sh Your Mouth Turn It On You' be hooked dude he is such a Salesman no mods no nothing that thing will pass every smog thing test in the world bro right yeah light on huh it's already got a light on oh yeah it does we because we SW SWA it to manual and Jordan didn't C it out yet that's the only light yeah what do you have to do to make a chaser smug legal everything that pretty much makes a chaser those Motors don't come with the one in do they yeah you break it you buy yeah you can go hit the thing hit the I see the s i see the sales pitch now I can't you right now we wanted to give this car away so badly but we're worried to confuse people cuz it looks just like when we gave it away it's built by the same guy that built the first one that we did give away gotcha he bu body of this car is in syane everything is it looks Immaculate you don't need to make an answer right now just like in the 10 minutes I'm just playing no pressure yeah no pressure that's a long dve that's like 3,000 miles I tell you what Ethan will probably drive it for free is there a lip on it where do you live yeah maybe not Maybe not maybe not how you can see Garrett wound up taking home the beautiful red Chaser but I couldn't announce it for a while just because we had to make sure that everything was very by the books our giveaways are run with a legal company and we weren't sure necessarily how the paperwork would work trading the prize from a simulator to a car but it wound up working Garrett's super happy and now that Chasers off to its new home when he came to the compound we had a good time took them drifting went out and grabbed some food pretty much do it with all the giveaway winners at this point so if you win that fm3 that could be you too all right we're taking a quick trip over to the HQ shop and we're going to do a little bit of upgrades on the giveaway f80 uh one thing that's kind of cool with this car is that when we got it the height is literally dialed but there is a very large problem often when we do a giveaway car the winter comes and they're like yeah I live in really roads or I have a really steep Drive way I can't get in and the problem is I think this car was like a very early R&D car now I'm learning from indd and uh it just has Springs on it there's no brand there's no kit nothing nothing's adjustable on the car but rather than doing coilovers we're going to do an interesting new product that BC is about to come out with and this car is going to be one of the first to get it so that the winner can adjust their height and get it exactly where they want it to be I think this car looks pretty much perfect so I'm actually going to try to Target the same exact ride height that it has right now which is 2 and 5/8 in the rear like 2 and 3/4 in the front when the impact matches the car it's pretty cool look at this is that the weirdest thing ever I've never had a wheel where you don't have like a socket that the lug nut goes in originally we were going to like swap these out with tees but I think this is one of the first cars we've ever given away they came with wheels that would be a downgrade to swap to tees yeah these are sick ooh kind of need studs though These suck probably hasn't come off in a while oh my goodness that might be the lightest big wheel I've ever felt that's insane really yeah here catch all right let's see how to do this oh there's a spring thing a shock thing we'll just wing it probably figure it out hopefully maybe good doink all right so just to be clear this kit is not available to the public yet this is one of the very first kits and they will be releasing soon but this is BC's new ASP series which stands for adjustable spring perch now with a lot of newer cars people don't want to delete the electric dampers because you lose the control from the steering wheel or from your center console to be able to switch between modes like Comfort sport sport plus whatever your car calls it so with this kit you're able to retain your factory dampers but now you have an adjustable perch at the bottom so unlike this Springs that were around the car before if someone wanted to raise or lower the car more that's up to you but you still have all the controls from your steering wheel to be able to retain the factory ERS a lot of times kits will try to reuse the stock rubber to uh avoid having to make a piece like this well I thought it was pretty cool this piece is looks like it's molded to be a direct fit for the bottom of this control arm so that kind of sits right here and then we'll have the stack basically sit right up top pop right in the chassis up here I never noticed a whole octopus bullsh going on underneath here look at this dude it's got a muffler in the center it's got these little dumps here it's got one two six exhaust tips technically speaking that's kind of crazy yeah you never know all right time to pop her in always make sure your numberers facing outwards that way if you ever want to know what spring rates you have key tip uh when you're reading this this is the length 210 and then this is your spring rate 13 I don't know what the first number means I think this will go down as probably one of the fanciest pieces I've ever pulled off a stock car look at this thing well it's attached to more things than I thought pretty light you know how most things you see that carpon they just like end up feeling just as heavy as if they weren't this thing doesn't take it apart front took a little bit longer but there we have it our fully comprehensive asbc equipped stock electronically adjustable shock say that four times fast I dare you but uh yeah I mean pretty standard just like I said of coilovers you get to adjust the height right here but still retain that fancy little plug thing that lets you get all the control from your steering wheel while we're switching over to BC's new ASP series we are also upgrading something else in the rear end Donnie's been working on getting these all adjusted to factory length these are spls tow arms traction arms and upper camber arms uh reason being it's kind of one of those things where most people wouldn't notice driving the car when you get on the gas I could feel the rear end squirming around a little bit and what that is even though this car is low mileage I think has like 20,000 miles on it these stock rubber bushings get old they get brittle and they squirm around when you're actually putting power and traction down what that does is it cause weird alignment things it's just not very confidence inspiring and it's a very common problem with BMWs so spls pretty much as good as it gets if you're going over to adjustable arms they got these cool little titanium hardware and these adjusters are a lot easier than having like the double locking collars CU essentially this clamps it when you loosen both these you just got one point of adjustment clamp them down and then they use really high-end spherical Hy joints um so you're not going to be blowing these out like you would on a cheaper arm getting rattles then having to constantly replace stuff like you might think you would have to do on a track car so really really good option pretty much all of the BMW guys super guys that are making big Power run SPL stuff um and it's as good as it gets all right so the E36 wrapped up with approximately 100 to 150 more wheel past 5700 and about 100 foot- PBS more of torque which is going to make the biggest difference when it comes to Drifting especially up top uh the trade-off for that was a loss of about 100 horsepower under 5 grand or you could also look at that as a loss of like 500 RPM of spool really not that bad of a trade-off for that much power probably the turbo that I should be running on the 34 but I've always been addicted to the little small turbo setups for what I put it through not too bad pulled the ppf off I feel like I drift Stitch this up it'll look actually pretty HPC on then I got another bumper coming but for the time being if this is my uh send it off the Jump and a little extra hard bumper still not too bad um anyway uh we still got a lot of stuff to do in the E36 wrap it up we do have the new clutch in I think we might be testing as soon as today uh I'll probably include that footage in the next video I'm super excited to see how it feels I've never driven a bigger turbo than the G35 1050 on anything other than the 3 L I hated it on the 3 l but I think it's going be really good on the 34 I'm excited to share it with you guys a lot of stuff in this video a lot of stuff to unpack a lot of stuff going on the compound hope you enjoyed the lots of stuff and I'll see you soon and they can take family and your girlfriend kids in the back your girlfriend specifically yeah I don't know you have one you have one sit in a Sim or drive sales yeah it's like you're on the right instead of the leftwe're back from our rally Adventure I had so much fun in Austin and it was really cool to see all the positive feedback on the video the absolute best case scenario if you're someone in the YouTube space is when you can do something that's really fun that you enjoy and the video still gets Dynomite actually has ceramic built in it and surprisingly a lot of the dirt just kind of blew right off where I almost didn't even need to use soap hit the wheels with a little bit of Grio heavy duty whe heel cleaner foam the car down tried to lift whatever contaminants were left before running over it with a wash mitt then of course the last stage of rinsing you can see when it came to drying the car um the Ceramics built into the dynamite ppf from St made it extremely easy uh the end result amazing there was pretty much no scratches in the car and if there were any self-healing properties could tell you don't skip leg day I like it though um you guys might notice in some of my incar footage you'll often see me resting my foot on the clutch I assure you it's not a street car like you literally have to press the clutch so hard for it to do anything that I can kind of keep my foot there ready to go and in drifting when we do a lot of clutch kicks it's better than like s stepping the clutch all the time so that's the big thing the other big thing is the spoolie thing in the engine bay so um I can put a I'll put a clip on the screen here um while I was away Freddy came over and he actually did some turbo testing with a bunch of different options a bunch of different ARs and we wound up going to the g401 50 so with a small sacrifice in the mid-range we were able to make about another 150 horsepower so this is right around the Thousand Mark now for this car I wouldn't have needed that for Long Beach I think for Long Beach the car had plenty of power Formula Drift Atlanta definitely uh can establish a gap if you have a higher power car going up that hill it makes a very very big difference um and I didn't want to show up there being outgun we know who our first battle is going to be it's going to be Matt Field he's got a fast car he's a fast driver so we got the bigger spoolie boy the cool thing is though this is still even though it's like the big turbo and I hated the big turbo on the S15 it's the uh not as big turbo as we ran on the S15 and this is a 34 so it'll spool it great um unfortunately though we did need to switch manifolds but we had RX manifolds on the Shelf finally I can use their 2J manifold uh I run g35s on pretty much everything and their manifold is a G40 flange this is their big daddy um so was pretty cool able to bolt on everything's accessible Johan had to refab the downpipe but um now the car makes more power so I'll probably end up be testing this later this week but for E36 updates that's the majority of it oh we got to rewrap the rear end too but I mean that's not like any exciting new update to you guys but good car I got my work cut out for me on this thing we've got a whole slew of parts and I've been obviously as you guys know traveling all over the world so even though the giveaway for the f80 is over in 2 weeks we'll still be making it even better than it already is so if you haven't entered yet every $5 you spend on lzmfg or drift HQ is going to get you entered for a chance to win this bad boy and $155,000 cash now I came back from Brazil and it reminded me how much I love pullup handbrakes and right-hand drive cars I don't know why my brain like in a left-hand drive car pull back is like my thing in a right-and drive car maybe it's from all my laps in the The Crest over at ebisu pullup just feels right so Sean's probably stoked that we're going to pull up he's a big pull up boy yeah you hear him over there um but uh I'm excited to wheel this car a little bit more I've got a special guest coming on Monday uh testing out their new build I feel like I should probably go uh go show go show it to you guys give you a little sneak peek but I'm I'm trying to like brainstorm right now like you might see the GT350 is in the shop this thing's getting some love the sedan's getting some love I'm like I got my friend coming over I'm like I want to I want to I want to give him rides and all the things I want to have fun I want to drift with him and um yeah I guess I'll I'll reveal friend now hey guys this is just a random thing I'm put in the middle of the video I always forget to ask you guys to like the video and it actually makes a really really big difference in making the video get seen by more people people including the people that are subscribed to me like yourself hopefully if you're not it's okay but I understand so I guess this is my weird way of just asking you maybe reminding you just to hit the like button real quick goes a long way and um thanks back to the video one of the objectives today is to pop over to HQ we've got a pretty special project brewing in the shop you guys might know about it from other people's social media we're going to pop over and I'll give you guys a little sneak peek over at the HQ shop you might recognize this 350Z tjz is here and this all kind of started at a conversation at the ton no not tto Bakersfield World Tour essentially TJ had this car here which is like what would you say DTE like 70% of the way there it was a good car but not there the biggest problem is like if TJ were to go to a competition and compete this car its biggest crutch in my opinion would probably be like the drivetrain pretty much the engine and the rear end were not up to like a pro car spec and as you guys know he's literally been competing in his 370Z which is a great car but he kind of needs to fill that gap of having a pro car to be able to drive his Pro car friends he's building his Supra into a pro car but that's not going to be for some time down the road he already had this built motor literally in our shop sitting on a pallet so I was like TJ just let us basically put your engine in your car for you we'll put a nice fancy Garrett G35 900 on it it'll make more power it'll feel better and then you'll at least know it's going to be reliable so you can go have fun but we didn't stop there so yeah in order to make it like the car was very very well buil from the time that it got buil like I have no no complaints like we open it up we're like wow this is actually nicely built but it was outdated so we decided to go step by step change what we could see and then make it like that much better so we did a treadstone in cooler the G35 900 that Adam mentioned we changed the lines all the vibrant goodies put a bigger alternative for him KRC setup so that he doesn't go through belts popping and everything like that this was already it didn't have a poy system here so it was like it was just natural that we did that so in the front Chris tucked all the wires it was a mess here that was the only thing that we didn't like from the the original build but we changed all the harness made it tighter put all the vibrant goodies Funk Motorsports to cover everything that we could that's all in the front so we went on the back he had PB mria in we put a entirely new wisfb Reen on the car for him good stuff on the back you could see like damn he got the good huh all the good stuff so we did a pwr with two brushless Spa fans on this this is what we've been running all the cars pretty much this is the best of the best that you can get like this thing here pushes over 4,000 CFM controlled by the ECU very I couldn't even get my car over 160 on a Dyno that's how good this thing is so we were like controlling the fans to keep it low we put the latest radium cell with the FCX inside of them with three DW 400s I believe on this car and they built this car in 2 weeks rebuilt it in 2 weeks new exhaust what's that dog the dog man let's let's go Bo got the dog so now he's got the dog in him full dog that is so he's got the new quick change best in the best can handle 1500 horsepower he can change the gears on the flight we put whatever gear that we we started off with so that he knows like where to go from there we kind of ratioed it based on what whatever was here for him to like feel comfortable within the gears but obviously this this over here gives you a big advantage in competition rise Fab knocked this out of the park for us in like 3 days 2 weeks to rebuild my car don't show my car we haven't even showed the final product but 2 weeks to rebuild my car and two weeks on this day and Crick Cricket Chris and Donnie knocked it out of the park it's essentially one exhaust away from being done it basically went from like a Grassroots car with a sequential transmission to now this is pretty much a full-fledged Prospect car absolutely power-wise it's going to be capped out around 750 wheel he could definitely make closer to what I make in the E36 with this but I wanted him to run the G35 900 because it's going to be super quick super responsive and quite frankly I think for a lot of the stuff that he's doing out in California this will be plenty of power and it like won't be a crazy departure from what he's used to driving um this sick just because there's so much bolt-on parts for it for sure we did also electric pump for him on the back he had like a little pool pump I'm not sure what he was using I've never seen one of those but this here Mair this will shoot water h 100 ft in the air so that will keep the car pool pump yeah it wasn't it wasn't like the normal one it looked it looks strange I never seen that before it's it's on a rack there this this exact one here has been on my car for 7 years and never failed it's like the best that you can get in a game is this the all the old stuff so this is all the old stuff so if you want to know what we actually changed this is everything well and the the motor too is that in here no the motor's for sale you guys haven't bought it we got a 100 requests for it somebody freaking buy the motor Cash Out stock vvti 2J with manifold and a turbo and a GTX um 3582 yeah pretty good buy it yeah let's go we need we need Sushi money do we get the money or TJ get the money I mean both well we get to eat with his money all right the whole process and everything tearing down the car and all the parts and stuff that's used if you guys want to know more detail obviously you can find on the drift HQ Channel um I'm stoked that we were in a position to be able to help TJ out he's a phenomenal driver I love seen him rip in his 370Z and it killed me to see this car literally sitting idle on a lift just because it kind of fell into that gray area where now he'll be able to use it for all this stuff and Shred now we did announce on Instagram that the winner of the podium one simulator giveaway was Garrett Brady but I didn't include it in the video cuz there was a very interesting thing that happened essentially Garrett didn't have space for the simulator and he was working with us to basically build the simulator that would be easy for him to sell it was going to take a while to build the custom Simulator for him and we weren't sure what actually would be the best option for him to sell because you know someone who builds a simulator is usually building it to their liking so dwarte came up with the idea of literally offering him one of two cars that he had actively listed for sale that was very similar to the value that it would have cost us to build the simulator that he wanted um so here's how that went D what's your offer here we are we have two beautiful cars at your disposal a rightand drive mint 30,000 Mi E36 non M3 manual swap kn we took that auto junked it and on our right side we have this beautiful Chaser also manual one JZ with all the drift Ms you can think of and it can take your family and new girlfriend kids in the back your girlfriend specifically yeah I don't know you have one you have one yeah one okay so you can take your girlfriend he doesn't he will after this is that a well what's it what is in this this is a this is a 323 so it's just a m52 okay 30,00 m one of four in the world in this spec it's individual color as I'm out of the bad with that California is never going to let me have that really so these are being sold for the pretty much the same price so this is your options it's valued at around what we would be paying for you a Sim it's a tough choice but sit in a Sim or drive the Sim this salesman number one what's behind door number two which one are you going to do there's no pressure he literally he like text me like I kid you not like an hour ago like hey I got an idea driven a right hand D car I don't know how that even works so it's the same thing the same thing but I like it's just it's weird you know yeah it's like you're on the right instead of the left sh Your Mouth Turn It On You' be hooked dude he is such a Salesman no mods no nothing that thing will pass every smog thing test in the world bro right yeah light on huh it's already got a light on oh yeah it does we because we SW SWA it to manual and Jordan didn't C it out yet that's the only light yeah what do you have to do to make a chaser smug legal everything that pretty much makes a chaser those Motors don't come with the one in do they yeah you break it you buy yeah you can go hit the thing hit the I see the s i see the sales pitch now I can't you right now we wanted to give this car away so badly but we're worried to confuse people cuz it looks just like when we gave it away it's built by the same guy that built the first one that we did give away gotcha he bu body of this car is in syane everything is it looks Immaculate you don't need to make an answer right now just like in the 10 minutes I'm just playing no pressure yeah no pressure that's a long dve that's like 3,000 miles I tell you what Ethan will probably drive it for free is there a lip on it where do you live yeah maybe not Maybe not maybe not how you can see Garrett wound up taking home the beautiful red Chaser but I couldn't announce it for a while just because we had to make sure that everything was very by the books our giveaways are run with a legal company and we weren't sure necessarily how the paperwork would work trading the prize from a simulator to a car but it wound up working Garrett's super happy and now that Chasers off to its new home when he came to the compound we had a good time took them drifting went out and grabbed some food pretty much do it with all the giveaway winners at this point so if you win that fm3 that could be you too all right we're taking a quick trip over to the HQ shop and we're going to do a little bit of upgrades on the giveaway f80 uh one thing that's kind of cool with this car is that when we got it the height is literally dialed but there is a very large problem often when we do a giveaway car the winter comes and they're like yeah I live in really roads or I have a really steep Drive way I can't get in and the problem is I think this car was like a very early R&D car now I'm learning from indd and uh it just has Springs on it there's no brand there's no kit nothing nothing's adjustable on the car but rather than doing coilovers we're going to do an interesting new product that BC is about to come out with and this car is going to be one of the first to get it so that the winner can adjust their height and get it exactly where they want it to be I think this car looks pretty much perfect so I'm actually going to try to Target the same exact ride height that it has right now which is 2 and 5/8 in the rear like 2 and 3/4 in the front when the impact matches the car it's pretty cool look at this is that the weirdest thing ever I've never had a wheel where you don't have like a socket that the lug nut goes in originally we were going to like swap these out with tees but I think this is one of the first cars we've ever given away they came with wheels that would be a downgrade to swap to tees yeah these are sick ooh kind of need studs though These suck probably hasn't come off in a while oh my goodness that might be the lightest big wheel I've ever felt that's insane really yeah here catch all right let's see how to do this oh there's a spring thing a shock thing we'll just wing it probably figure it out hopefully maybe good doink all right so just to be clear this kit is not available to the public yet this is one of the very first kits and they will be releasing soon but this is BC's new ASP series which stands for adjustable spring perch now with a lot of newer cars people don't want to delete the electric dampers because you lose the control from the steering wheel or from your center console to be able to switch between modes like Comfort sport sport plus whatever your car calls it so with this kit you're able to retain your factory dampers but now you have an adjustable perch at the bottom so unlike this Springs that were around the car before if someone wanted to raise or lower the car more that's up to you but you still have all the controls from your steering wheel to be able to retain the factory ERS a lot of times kits will try to reuse the stock rubber to uh avoid having to make a piece like this well I thought it was pretty cool this piece is looks like it's molded to be a direct fit for the bottom of this control arm so that kind of sits right here and then we'll have the stack basically sit right up top pop right in the chassis up here I never noticed a whole octopus bullsh going on underneath here look at this dude it's got a muffler in the center it's got these little dumps here it's got one two six exhaust tips technically speaking that's kind of crazy yeah you never know all right time to pop her in always make sure your numberers facing outwards that way if you ever want to know what spring rates you have key tip uh when you're reading this this is the length 210 and then this is your spring rate 13 I don't know what the first number means I think this will go down as probably one of the fanciest pieces I've ever pulled off a stock car look at this thing well it's attached to more things than I thought pretty light you know how most things you see that carpon they just like end up feeling just as heavy as if they weren't this thing doesn't take it apart front took a little bit longer but there we have it our fully comprehensive asbc equipped stock electronically adjustable shock say that four times fast I dare you but uh yeah I mean pretty standard just like I said of coilovers you get to adjust the height right here but still retain that fancy little plug thing that lets you get all the control from your steering wheel while we're switching over to BC's new ASP series we are also upgrading something else in the rear end Donnie's been working on getting these all adjusted to factory length these are spls tow arms traction arms and upper camber arms uh reason being it's kind of one of those things where most people wouldn't notice driving the car when you get on the gas I could feel the rear end squirming around a little bit and what that is even though this car is low mileage I think has like 20,000 miles on it these stock rubber bushings get old they get brittle and they squirm around when you're actually putting power and traction down what that does is it cause weird alignment things it's just not very confidence inspiring and it's a very common problem with BMWs so spls pretty much as good as it gets if you're going over to adjustable arms they got these cool little titanium hardware and these adjusters are a lot easier than having like the double locking collars CU essentially this clamps it when you loosen both these you just got one point of adjustment clamp them down and then they use really high-end spherical Hy joints um so you're not going to be blowing these out like you would on a cheaper arm getting rattles then having to constantly replace stuff like you might think you would have to do on a track car so really really good option pretty much all of the BMW guys super guys that are making big Power run SPL stuff um and it's as good as it gets all right so the E36 wrapped up with approximately 100 to 150 more wheel past 5700 and about 100 foot- PBS more of torque which is going to make the biggest difference when it comes to Drifting especially up top uh the trade-off for that was a loss of about 100 horsepower under 5 grand or you could also look at that as a loss of like 500 RPM of spool really not that bad of a trade-off for that much power probably the turbo that I should be running on the 34 but I've always been addicted to the little small turbo setups for what I put it through not too bad pulled the ppf off I feel like I drift Stitch this up it'll look actually pretty HPC on then I got another bumper coming but for the time being if this is my uh send it off the Jump and a little extra hard bumper still not too bad um anyway uh we still got a lot of stuff to do in the E36 wrap it up we do have the new clutch in I think we might be testing as soon as today uh I'll probably include that footage in the next video I'm super excited to see how it feels I've never driven a bigger turbo than the G35 1050 on anything other than the 3 L I hated it on the 3 l but I think it's going be really good on the 34 I'm excited to share it with you guys a lot of stuff in this video a lot of stuff to unpack a lot of stuff going on the compound hope you enjoyed the lots of stuff and I'll see you soon and they can take family and your girlfriend kids in the back your girlfriend specifically yeah I don't know you have one you have one sit in a Sim or drive sales yeah it's like you're on the right instead of the left\n"
