The Exciting World of Engine Transplants: A Plan B Emerges
As I stood in front of my freshly rebuilt engine, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The engine swap had finally come to an end, and it was time to put everything back together again. But just as we were about to start reinstalling the engine, we received some unexpected news from our friends at Keeley over in Australia. It turned out that sending the engine via plane would be a sketchy proposition due to the 25-year rule, which could have resulted in seizure or crushing of the engine.
We had initially opted for shipping the engine by plane, hoping to get it here as quickly as possible. However, after some research and consultation with our team, we realized that this might not be the best option. So, we decided to pull the plug on sending the engine by plane and instead opt for a different route. Although we won't be getting the engine from my yellow Evo over here, I want to give a big shout-out to the guys at Keeley for their efforts and willingness to help us out. They even went so far as to put new head studs in the engine before shipping it, which is impressive.
Despite not being able to get the engine, we're excited about an alternative plan that's come together. I'm not sure what the final product will be yet, but our team has been working on some creative solutions, and we're confident that they'll come up with something amazing. We're actually supposed to have the new engine installed by Monday, but timing issues mean it'll be later this week instead. In the meantime, I wanted to give you guys a quick update on what's happening behind the scenes.
Once the engine was removed from my yellow Evo, we decided to clean up the area and give everything a good wash. We also popped the axles in so that we could push the car outside and get it out of the way. As I'm always saying, safety first! With the engine safely back on the ground, we can now focus on getting everything reassembled and back to its former glory.
On a related note, Justin has been working on some new content over the weekend. He made an exhaust system for one of his Echos, which turned out to be pretty cool. If you're interested in checking it out, I recommend heading over to his channel or social media profiles. He's always pushing the boundaries and coming up with innovative solutions, and I'm excited to see what he'll come up with next.
Now that we've got the engine back on the ground, it's time for me to give you guys an update on some other projects that are currently in the works. As I mentioned earlier, I've been feeling a bit guilty about not producing as much content lately. Well, I'm happy to report that this is slowly changing, and I'll be back to my usual schedule soon.
In the meantime, let's take a look at two cars that caught my eye recently. This Prelude has an impressive stance, and I love how it looks next to our trusty old 32. The similarities between these two cars are striking, but I think they both have their own unique charm. While the silver R33 may be a bit more desirable, I still think this Prelude is the cooler of the two.
I'm also excited to share some news about an upcoming collaboration with a friend who's got a few tricks up his sleeve. Let's just say that things are going to get interesting, and I'll be sure to give you guys all the details as soon as they're ready.
And finally, I want to take a moment to talk about tips and appreciation for our viewers. It's amazing to think about how much of an impact we can have on people's lives through just a few words or gestures. So, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need some encouragement or motivation, just remember that there are kind souls out there who care.
But enough about that – what do you guys really want? A Porsche, a 120, and a Miata, perhaps? Or maybe something entirely different? Let's get this conversation started!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou guys know I love my little hole-in-the-wall deli so I started off today had a little hole-in-the-wall deli in Wallingford that I used to come to all the time when I was younger and he's staying out at the Wallingford Bike Barn called Rosa's deli only recommend everyone's super nice there so we're gonna go head over to the shop we're gonna do evil things today I'm excited I'm gonna go see what Justin's got done with exhaust and hopefully get some stuff done too so like I said today we're gonna do stuff with the e bow so we stopped over to more fab what's up Justin alright so unfortunately I got here a little bit late and he had the entire exhaust all done on the car and I missed it but you said you've got a video of it I got a video of it so cool all right so I'm gonna overlay it right now here we go the exhaust is all completed the only thing we're missing is a clamp right here but I want to put the clamp on yet because we still have to take this entire thing off so that we can put an engine in this thing what you guys can get a good idea of what this looks like fits amazing comes out the bumper with a nice three and a half inch tip right in the center they're good to go just looking good now well it's taken apart how did it go how long did it take it went good exactly if you look over here at it all those wonderful pie cups took us about 25 30 hours to weld all that together you're crazy you were saying what like four or five tries just to get the down pipe right yeah actually this flange the v-band flange I kept redoing and redoing to gain all the clearances we needed for the suspension yeah bad stuff because it was tight in there so yep so and the old exhausts the way the old exhaust ran is it ran out this way and then came back this way so I wanted to kind of keep it in line with this to clear everything here we ended up with a ton of clearance on it so I think I think the engine would start so we can listen to see what it sounds like but that might not be a good idea yeah it might be a problem that there's a some holes in the oil pan and some Pistons missing yeah oh do you have you ever seen that before it's sick yep so anyway I don't think she's gonna start so we won't be able to see what it sounds like the Thai exhaust but I think it is pretty reasonable to say hopefully I can give you a hand we can get the engine out today we should look at out today no problem cool I mean I know I'm curious to see if the engine bay will clean up nice I don't want to have to paint the engine bays hopefully I can scrub a dub dub I hit a couple spots yeah it turns white immediately sick good to hear so anyway you didn't awesome job in the exhaust and I guess we'll start checking away I don't wanna there's some bad news and some good news regarding the whole engine situation but I think I'm gonna probably cover that after just so we can start getting to work on it and then hopefully I can entice you to stay a little bit longer than just like listening to the first minute of stuff that I say and then dipping out of the video so on top of great welding skills Justin also has great Wi-Fi I've never had such Wi-Fi before twenty minute video upload in like five minutes absurd guys decided to stop by not bringing a Starbucks you were late on the draw yeah not our fault all the things I do all the things I do but if I was an LS guy you would've wrote me Starbucks oh I would have known right away what you wanted and I would have got it and delivered it alright is this effect unless guys drink Duncan nah Starbucks correct yeah okay there you go dude we could yeah just a chill day hanging out of the shop not too sure if I've shown you guys this yet but little easy access cleaning window in the block down there way to heaven yeah forget way to hell whichever you choose she's almost ready to come out so you're saying you drop these down instead of pulling them up yeah yeah I mean you can do either with these flow through interesting interesting all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive whatever you want to call it engines are so weird to me looking at them all I know is sr20 so is life a little bit easier with the race fab subframe in front everything comes out you don't have to drop this upright for anything it's great so typically would you have to drop the subframe to get the engine out yes so that's pretty cool that we can leave all that stuff together or you have to tip the motor and take the transfer case off and then you can get it from there but it's still pain in the ass so it's just off this awesome put sweet now the Venge is out we can get a little bit better look that hole in the back of the block you see all that metal chillin in there that's wild so you said the bearings seem like they're still good so we probably reuse those yeah we'll reuse the bearings and maybe the bottom half of the rod you know it's still on there usually the rod bolts break but oh it's absolute safety reasons for sure mm-hmm cool good clever on the same page that's what I'm excited to do it's gonna clean up so nice so now that the engines out I feel like I should probably give you guys an update as to what's going on since the title of this video had something to do with something going wrong so I'll explain that you guys remember the guys over at Keeley over in Australia we're going
