MX Master for Mac review - do you NEED a PRO mouse

**A Pro Mouse for Every Occasion: My Experience with the Logitech MX Master**

As a YouTuber and freelancer, I'm fortunate to have the freedom to work on my own terms. However, with great flexibility comes great responsibility – I need a mouse that can keep up with my demanding workflow. After years of using the Magic Mouse 2, I've come to appreciate its simplicity and reliability. But as I delved deeper into the world of wireless mice, I discovered the Logitech MX Master, which has become an indispensable part of my productivity arsenal.

One of the things that drew me to the MX Master was its versatility. As a user who works across multiple devices – including a Mac, iPad, and even an employer-issued laptop – I needed a mouse that could seamlessly transition between these platforms. The MX Master's ability to pair with up to three devices at once made it an ideal choice for my needs. Whether I'm working on a video edit or browsing the web on my iPad, the MX Master has proven itself to be a reliable and intuitive companion.

One of the features that really impressed me about the MX Master is its compatibility with Sidecar, Apple's built-in feature that allows users to extend their display across multiple devices. With the MX Master, I can easily switch between virtual desktops and full-screen apps on either screen – whether it's my Mac or iPad – using a simple gesture. This has saved me countless hours of setup and troubleshooting, and has made it easier than ever to stay focused on my work.

Of course, one of the key selling points of any wireless mouse is its battery life. The MX Master claims to last up to 70 days on a single charge, which is impressive considering the device's size and feature set. While I don't expect to need to recharge it every week, the fact that it can last for months at a time without requiring a top-up is a major plus.

Another aspect of the MX Master that I've grown to appreciate is its customization options. As someone who values precision and control, I was delighted to find that I could tweak almost every setting to suit my needs. The gesture button, in particular, has become an essential part of my workflow – I've remapped it to launch Mission Control, which saves me a significant amount of time whenever I need to switch between multiple apps.

In terms of its performance, the MX Master is undoubtedly one of the best wireless mice on the market. Its precision and accuracy are unmatched, even when tracking on non-traditional surfaces like glass or wood. The thumb wheel, in particular, has become an indispensable tool for me – I've set it to scroll as fast as possible, which has greatly improved my productivity.

While the MX Master is certainly a premium product, its price point may be daunting for some users. However, I firmly believe that the extra cost is worth it – this mouse has genuinely transformed my workflow and saved me countless hours of frustration over time.

As someone who's had the pleasure of trying out the Magic Mouse 2, I can attest to its superiority. While it's still a great mouse in its own right, the MX Master offers so much more than just basic functionality. Its versatility, customization options, and overall performance make it an indispensable tool for anyone who needs a reliable and intuitive computing experience.

**A Word of Advice: Customize Your Mouse**

One of the things that sets the MX Master apart from other wireless mice is its flexibility – but this also means that users may feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available. As someone who's taken full advantage of the mouse's customization capabilities, I'd like to offer a word of advice: don't be afraid to experiment and tweak your settings until you find what works best for you.

For me, the MX Master has become an extension of my arm – it knows exactly how I want to use it, and vice versa. By taking the time to customize its features, I've been able to unlock a level of productivity and efficiency that I never thought possible.

**A Parting Shot: Why You Need a Pro Mouse**

So, do you need a pro mouse like the MX Master for your Mac? Absolutely not! But if you're someone who values precision, flexibility, and customization – someone who wants to take their computing experience to the next level – then this mouse is an absolute must-have.

As a freelancer and YouTuber, I can attest to the fact that having a reliable and intuitive mouse has made all the difference in my work. The MX Master may not be for everyone, but for those of us who demand the best – it's a game-changer.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis is the new logitech mx master 3 for mac and it does some things that other mice can't it has a gesture button which either adapts open mission control or app expose among other things it can vertically scroll a thousand lines in one second and that top scroll button has two different scroll modes there's a horizontal scroll wheel it has forward and back buttons to help you navigate faster it actually fits in the shape of your hand it connects instantly when you turn it on and now it comes in space gray to match the color of my six inch macbook pro see how nice that looks so yeah logitech's famous mx master mouse has been specifically remixed and remastered for mac os and app specific customizations for photoshop for final cut pro for chrome and safari among several others and it's not just for mac users it's also gonna work for your ipad too but we'll get to that in just a minute but for now it's nice to know that you can pair this with up to three separate devices plus every single button is completely customizable using the logi options software so you can personalize this more than nike by you so do you need this level of pro mouse for your mac well technically speaking if you have a mac laptop then you already have a really awesome trackpad with multi-touch gestures and this mouse the mx master has no multi-touch gestures a fact that does sort of get made up for in other ways but no i mean technically i guess you don't need a pro mouse but on the other hand after having used the mac specific mx master for a good couple of weeks now it does feel like this is something that i wouldn't want to be without i've really come to rely on it so if i don't want to be without it if i miss that one tap mission control access from any screen or the ability to horizontally scroll to adjust brush sizes in photoshop if i'd missed the forward and back buttons while navigating your stack in chrome or safari and if i'd missed the horizontal timeline scrolling in final cut pro which i would really really really really miss if these pro actions and abilities have become permanently baked into my workflow like they have then is there really a difference between need and want here that's something to think about put a pin in it we're not done yet sure it's quicker to throw your mac into a bag and just hit the road but i've been making sure that this new mx master comes with me everywhere i go whether that's upstairs or downstairs at the house or whether that's going out to the coffee shop fully masked of course honestly i can put up with a little extra bulk if it enables an avalanche of added productivity and speaking of extra productivity now's the time when we should definitely mention that this works really well with ipads on the ipad you can still switch between scrolling modes you can still right click and left click obviously and you can even still use the gesture button so one click click's gonna revert to the last app you used which is super useful but if you click and hold then you're gonna get the app switcher which means you're multitasking just got a little more awesome and to be honest this is a much better and more powerful ipad mouse than the pebble i345 which i still love and i'll link up both down in the description so you can do your own research but with the pebble i345 you gotta dig into the accessibility features to fully unlock the mouse's full button potential with the mx master on the other hand everything's just good to go right from the get now is the mx master a little bit of overkill for ipad users maybe maybe not but that's not really the point because i like all humans prefer to limit clutter whenever possible and so why use more than one mouse in your life why own more than one mouse if you don't have to see the mx master lets me use one in the same mouse for my mac for my ipad and if i wasn't already living the life of my dreams as a youtuber where i'm my own boss then theoretically i could also pair this with a third computer or device which was issued by my employer thus covering every base ever so since i'm moving right now as subscribers know my beloved 49 inch ultra wide monitor is off languishing somewhere in a pod right now so in the meantime i've been using sidecar every day and i gotta say this mouse has worked great with sidecar i especially like the ability to be able to switch between virtual desktops and full screen apps on either screen either the mac or the ipad inside car with the gesture button by just holding it down and then moving to the right or the left now this is a wireless mouse that means like all wireless mice it runs on batteries that also means i'm gonna have to recharge it periodically but charging it once every 70 days which is how long it's going to last that's really not too much of a burden i mean five times a year i can put up with that especially when the charging port doesn't live on the bottom of the device a magic mouse which means i can actually charge and work at the same time novel now throw in the fact that this mouse tracks on any surface smoothly including glass and yes i'd say you've got yourself a real true live pro mouse now i'd be lying if i said i just loved this mouse right from the get go right out of the box without tweaking any of the settings if i couldn't tweak the settings using logi options then i wouldn't use this mouse but because i can go in and personalize everything exactly how i like then this becomes the mouse of my dreams traditionally i have been a big fan and proponent of the magic mouse 2. i like that mouse i'm not saying in this video that you should ditch it that it's no good because i still like that mouse it's just that i've really come to appreciate all the functionality that the mx master gives me and really i've spent more time learning how to use it so do you need a pro mouse like the mx master for your mac well to paraphrase michael from the office absolutely not i like to have a pro mouse i enjoy having a pro mouse i have to have a pro mouse all right quick change of scenery real quick to answer one question which came from mark shout out to mark aka team pixel relationship manager uh but mark was like how do you how do i customize the button options for this mx master and that's a good question i definitely don't just leave everything default i do leave the gesture button set to mission control because that's something that i would actually find useful i did change the forward and back buttons to be a little more useful to me though what i did was i set the forward one to show the desktop because oftentimes i need to access some files there and that's just a little bit quicker you know as an alternative to using hot corners and then the back button i went ahead and remapped that to go into screenshot mode so i can just click and drag to get a screenshot because that's something that i use in my workflow all the time so just between those three things you can just see how this is really adaptable to your own personal workflow and so that's what i'm saying when i have a pro mouse part of what makes it pro is what it can do and then what i can do with it and a big part of what i can do with it is save myself some time there's a few other things i changed number one i changed the scroll speed on the thumb wheel to be as fast as possible that was one thing that drove me nuts and it was one thing that would keep me from using this mouse that's what i was saying if i couldn't change some of the options this was the thing the scroll speed for that thumb wheel the horizontal scroll speed was too slow by setting it to scroll as fast as possible i could actually use it to scroll around in my final cut timeline so that was a must do thing for me i think that's pretty much it pretty much leave everything else default so thanks for asking mark now time to get back inside
