Hey Guys and Welcome to Petrol Ped and Welcome to Donington Park: It is a beautiful, beautiful sunny day for race 2 now, quick update before we roll the titles.
Gareth's car is back on the road. The guys did an amazing job overnight. They got the engine out of that in an hour and three quarters. It has a new engine in it, and it's running really well. So, Gareth's back in the race which is brilliant. My cars are all ready; we just need to go and have a bit of lunch. We're the second race after lunch today; it's going to be a good day probably titles. Well, we've got the cars at warming up, got about one hour till the lights go green.
Now, one of the big things after race one, I mean obviously I'm very pleased to have come 14th. My pole starting place was based on my fastest lap in the first race which was a one-minute 26 that puts me on 19. I think, but looking back at the footage this morning, I'm clearly my kind of brain was taken up and consumed by the racing, and I've got this terrible soaring in there if you look back at my in-car footage; I'm kind of soaring at the wheel, it's not smooth. So, I really need to work on when I'm coming up to corner just gently putting the lock on and smoothly driving around the corner.
I was kind of doing this kind of movie steering yesterday much to the disgust of John, and I haven't spoken to Mark, if he sees that in a shout happening massively so, I've got huge amounts to work on. I think I've got more time in the car, I reckon between maybe half a second maybe even a second worth of time if I can just sort my line out, my car starting to sound good. This is it; race 2 well here we are guys warming up makes mechanic Rachel sorting me out dolls all ready to go.
I was waiting for that dude; go windows up so I've got some really quick guys behind me because of the accident on race 1, and I thought maybe one of the biggest guys they're in the same for some quite quick guys behind me. One of the quickest guys in the field to my left because they had problems with their car yesterday, so my plan is a minor but apart from driving smoothly; it's global no thanks to me. I'm just gonna try and stick with him and hope he might take you through the field a little bit.
I've got drive smooth come into it; the guys race to is over, and I ended up coming 18th now, I'm actually quite pleased with that but disappointed at the same time, a very different race yesterday lots lots more close quarters combat and battling actual contact between cars coming sideways at a red gate and I really did think I could get that car at the end. I kind of did a really nice move to that she came got him in the red gate outbreak myself at red gate work my way back all the way down through up to MacLaine's and then outbreak myself again, so but 18th I will take that and that kind of concludes my becoming a racing driver series although it doesn't.
There's one more film if I have inspired you to get into motor racing if you think I'd love to give that a go then you need to tune in to the final episode of becoming a racing driver because I'm going to talk to John about this car and the championship. I'm gonna talk to 750 Motor Club about all the different classes you might be able to enter, and then as a very very cool thing right at the end, I'm gonna give you the chance to win this car so you need to tune into their last episode are becoming a racing driver.
But I hope you've enjoyed this one if you have done so give me a thumbs up comments below will always welcome. If you haven't done so already please subscribe to Petrol for plenty more content to come but I want to say a huge thank you first of all to John and Rachel from JT a performance for just looking after me throughout the whole process providing me with a car that just gave me the experience of a lifetime.
I want to say huge thank you to my family, my driver coach Mark. I know I probably didn't drive to my smoothest, I did my best and hopefully you are proud. I want to say a huge thank you to the guys at Poly sport for helping me with my tire supply and all my helpers especially Adam is right behind the camera right now, and my supporters who came along but I'll see you on the last film which is becoming a racing driver win this car and have a go yourself you take care guys drive safe.
