iPad 2018 Unboxing and Hands-on

Unboxing and Hands-on Review of the Apple iPad 2018

As I'm Michael Josh, and you're watching Gadget Match, I'm excited to announce that Apple has announced a whole bunch of products, and I have them all inside this bag. This is our Apple iPad 2018 unboxing and hands-on review, where we'll take a closer look at the new features and specs of this latest tablet.

First things first, let's take a look at what's inside my shopping bag. The iPad 2018 edition is the first item in the bag, followed by the Smart Cover, and last but definitely not the least, it's the Apple Pencil. I have to say that the Apple Pencil isn't new, but it's the first time the entry-level iPad supports it, so now you can use it to draw or scribble notes.

Now, let's get on with unboxing the iPad itself. The box is pretty standard, and if you flip it around, you'll find that we're unboxing the 128 gigabyte Wi-Fi plus cellular model. Let's peel off this plastic wrap and lift up this lid, and as you can see, we have the space grey model of the new iPad. The new iPad is also available in silver and a new shade of gold, which is somewhere in between gold and rose gold. In addition to the iPad, we also find a lightning cable for charging and syncing our iPad.

In the box, we also find a cardboard packet that contains your user guides, sim ejector tool, and of course, Apple stickers and a charging brick. I have to say that I would have loved it if Apple shipped the 29-watt adapter so that this iPad could charge even faster. Now, let's take a closer look at the iPad itself. The button and port placements are like this on the right side, with volume buttons and a SIM card tray up top for those who have the cellular model. On the bottom, we find downward firing speakers and a lightning port.

On the front, there's a physical home button that also serves as a fingerprint sensor, and a pair of front and back cameras. Now that we've unboxed the iPad, let's move on to the Smart Cover. The Smart Cover is magnetic and attaches like this, allowing you to prop up the iPad in various angles, such as when you want it to stand on a desk while watching a movie or need it at an angle for typing.

Now, let's take a look at the Apple Pencil itself. We find a smaller box with all important instructions and a charging adapter and extra tip. The Apple Pencil isn't new, but its improved support for augmented reality thanks to the A10 chip makes it an exciting feature. While we're looking at specs, I'd like to highlight that the 6th generation iPad starts at $329, with schools able to get them for $299 with a 10% discount off the Apple Pencil.

So, is the sixth-generation iPad your gadget match if you're in the market for a new tablet or new iPad? In my opinion, especially if you don't need all the features of the pro model, this will make a great device for students. Of course, you can also wait for our review, where we'll put this device through its paces and share our thoughts with you soon.
