This Is Not A BlackBerry...
The BlackBerry Key2: A Rugged Smartphone with a Twist
The BlackBerry Key2 is a rugged smartphone that has been making waves on Kickstarter, and we're excited to take a closer look at it. With its unique design and feature set, this device is sure to appeal to those looking for something different from the standard smartphones on the market.
One of the first things you'll notice about the BlackBerry Key2 is its square display. At 1440 x 1440 resolution, it's clear that this phone is designed with a focus on productivity and multitasking in mind. The screen may be smaller than what you're used to seeing on other smartphones, but it makes up for it in terms of brightness and color accuracy.
But what really sets the BlackBerry Key2 apart from other smartphones is its rugged design. It's water and dust proof, meaning that it can withstand being exposed to harsh environments without suffering any damage. Whether you're hiking through the woods or working on a construction site, this phone is built to last.
The keyboard on the BlackBerry Key2 is another feature that's sure to appeal to fans of traditional typing devices. It's located on the front of the phone and features a fingerprint sensor, making it easy to quickly unlock your device. The keypad itself feels tactile and satisfying to use, with each key having a distinct feel and sound.
The BlackBerry Key2 also boasts a range of other features that make it well-suited for rugged use. It has a 2000mAh battery, wireless charging capabilities, NFC, and support for walkie-talkie functionality through the built-in speaker. The phone's operating system is pretty stock looking, with no major customizations or overlays.
One feature that stands out as particularly useful is the phone's touchpad. Located on the side of the device, it allows for easy scrolling and navigation without having to rely on the touchscreen. This can be especially helpful when you're working in harsh environments where screens may not work properly.
The camera on the BlackBerry Key2 is another area worth noting. While it may not produce the most impressive photos, it does a decent job of capturing highlights and colors. The selfie camera at the top of the device takes some getting used to, but it's clear that this phone is designed with the idea of creating a "portrait" effect in mind.
In terms of marketing, the BlackBerry Key2 seems to be positioning itself as a niche product for those who want something different from the standard smartphones on the market. It's not trying to compete directly with other devices in its class, but rather carve out its own unique identity.
For fans of traditional typing devices and rugged smartphones, the BlackBerry Key2 may be just what you're looking for. Its unique design and feature set make it a compelling option for those who want something that stands out from the crowd. While it may not be to everyone's taste, there's no denying that this phone has some interesting ideas worth exploring.
The BlackBerry Key2 is not without its quirks, however. The speaker on the device can be quite loud and boisterous, making it more of a tool for shouting at others rather than having a quiet conversation. Additionally, the camera app is somewhat slow to respond, which may cause frustration for those who are used to quicker camera apps.
Despite these minor quibbles, we're overall impressed with the BlackBerry Key2. Its rugged design and feature set make it a compelling option for those who want something different from the standard smartphones on the market. While it's not perfect, there's no denying that this phone has some interesting ideas worth exploring.
