How to Play with Windows 8 Today

The Future of Windows 8: How to Try it Today

We're excited to share with you that Windows 8 is becoming a reality, and we can't wait for you to experience it. But when will it arrive? We don't know exactly when, but one thing's for sure - it's already available in front of you right now. It's the Internet, which has become our virtual store where you can shop for things and get your hands on Windows 8.

We've got some good news for those who are still holding onto Windows 98 SE. We're not here to mock you, but we do have to say that there are some people out there who genuinely believe that Windows 98 was the best version ever. We respect their opinion, but we're also excited about the prospect of trying something new and improved.

However, we can't let go of our love for the past entirely. We remember looking at Vista and thinking it couldn't be this bad - guess what? It turned out to be a joke. But in all seriousness, we've learned from our mistakes and are hoping that Windows 8 will turn out to be something truly special.

For those who want to try Windows 8 but don't want to switch back from their current operating system, don't worry! We've got you covered. You can download and install the Windows 8 developer preview in a virtual machine without risking your main installation. We'll outline three different ways for you to do this: getting the developer preview legally, setting it up in Boot Camp, using Parallels, VMware Fusion, or VirtualBox.

The reason we're advocating for virtual machines is that they offer an ideal way to test software and operating systems without affecting your main machine. You can try out Windows 8 in a safe environment and see if you like it before committing to anything permanent. And the best part? Virtual machines are free! Whether you're running on Windows, macOS, or Linux, there's a virtual machine out there for you.

Now, we know what you're thinking: "But isn't this just emulation?" Not exactly. Virtual machines are a different beast altogether. They allow your operating system to run within a separate environment, giving you access to a whole new world of possibilities. You can test software without installing it on your main machine, and you can even configure your virtual machine to do things that wouldn't be possible on your physical machine.

Of course, we're not naive - what we know about Windows 8 today is not necessarily what it will be in its final form. But we're excited about the possibilities, and we think you should be too! So go ahead, try out Windows 8 in a virtual machine, and see what you think. You might just find yourself falling in love with the new operating system.

As for those who are still on Macs, we've got some good news for you. The software required to run a virtual machine - VirtualBox, Parallels, VMware Fusion, or others - is available for both Windows and macOS. So whether you're running on a MacBook or an iMac, you can still try out Windows 8 in a virtual machine.

We want to emphasize that we don't recommend wiping out your current installed operating system. That would be a huge risk! Instead, we recommend using a virtual machine to test Windows 8 without affecting your main installation. And if you do decide to switch to Windows 8, make sure to back up your files and settings before doing so.

Finally, remember that this is just the developer preview of Windows 8 - it's not ready for prime time yet! But we're excited about the possibilities, and we think you should be too. So go ahead, give it a try in a virtual machine, and see what you think. You never know - you might just find yourself falling in love with the new operating system.
