The 2022 Infiniti QX60: A Vehicle that Could Get the Brand Back on Track
There's one product that I've been excited to get a good look at, and the answer is yes. The product behind me is the 2022 Infiniti QX60, which I believe is the vehicle that can get the brand back on track and in a good space.
When we looked at the QX60 Monograph some time ago, we got a peek at the design language, and now that it's available, I'm happy to report that Infinity has stuck to that design language, and the production version looks great. This is the vehicle that should drive Infinity design going forward for the time being. The headlight and grille treatment look great as do the vents at the edge of the front fascia. It helps stretch the QX60 visually, and those LED headlights which Infinity calls "Piano Key Headlights" are standard on all trims.
From the side, the QX60 keeps the subtle scalloping in the door ahead of the rear wheel, and the roof line flows back tightly. The taillights mimic the treatment on the headlamps, creating a cohesive look that is both premium and luxurious. This is a new Infinity product with true signature styling, which is important for any vehicle but especially so in the premium and luxury segments.
On the inside, we continue to be impressed, especially on the full-top spec Autograph version. The leather is gorgeous, imbued with a nice quilted pattern that adds depth and texture to the cabin. There are also lovely design elements in the center console and air vents that help it feel like a high-end lounge space when it's dark outside. Infinity knows this vehicle is for family, so we appreciate features like the second-row tilt-and-fold seats, which create great access for the third row.
Even cooler than that is the removable center console, which is standard on all QX60s. This feature adds a touch of sophistication to an already impressive list of features. The zero-gravity seats in the front row are super comfortable and come with eight-way power adjustability and a heating function. Cooled seats and massaging functionality are also available on higher trims, such as the Autograph.
Autograph-level cars, which is the top spec, have standard second-row captain's chairs and theater seating, providing great views for passengers in the backseat. Tri-zone climate control comes standard, ensuring that every passenger stays comfortable. You can even outfit the QX60 with up to seven USB charging ports to keep devices charged throughout the trip.
As far as driving dynamics go, we don't know what it's like completely behind the wheel yet, but we're happy to report that Infinity is not falling down the CVT rabbit hole. The QX60 comes with a three-and-a-half-liter V6 making 295 horsepower, paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive as an option. When set up properly, the QX60 will tow up to 6,000 pounds.
Infinity is also boasting a lot of great tech and style on this model. The wireless charging pad can fit a full-size iPhone Pro Max, and the screens are easy to see and reach. This is a touchscreen with controls that can also be adjusted using the knob. There's even an available large head-up display and a great 17-speaker sound system available.
Pricing for the 2022 Infiniti QX60 is still unknown, but you can check out what current gen versions are trading for on Autotrader to get an idea of where this one might land. The vehicle will actually make its way into dealer showrooms later in 2021, and we can't wait to take it for a spin and learn more about it in the not-too-distant future. This vehicle is the kick-in-the-pants that Infinity needed in its lineup, and it can't come soon enough.
The QX60 is a vehicle that has a lot of potential, and with this new design language and feature list, it's clear that Infinity is committed to providing a premium driving experience. Whether you're a family looking for a comfortable and practical vehicle or someone who wants a luxurious and feature-packed SUV, the QX60 is definitely worth considering.
