iOS 16.0.2 Released - What's New

**Fixing Bugs and Improving Features with iOS 16.0.2**

During the setup process of my iPhone 14, I encountered an issue where the device went black, forcing me to restart it to continue with the setup screen. Initially, I thought something was wrong with my iPhone, but it turned out that this was just a bug on iOS 16. This experience highlights one of the many issues that some users have been facing with the new operating system.

Fortunately, Apple has released an update to address these bugs and improve the overall user experience. The latest version of iOS is now available as 16.0.2, which includes several security benefits and feature enhancements. One notable improvement is the fix for voice over, a feature that was previously unavailable after rebooting in some cases. With this update, users can now use voice over properly without any interruptions.

Apple has also emphasized the importance of security updates with iOS 16.0.2, although specific details about the updated security patches are not publicly available. It's worth noting that the company typically doesn't release detailed information about security vulnerabilities until they've been addressed. However, it's reassuring to know that Apple is committed to protecting its users from potential threats.

**AirPods Pro 2 Firmware Update**

In addition to the iOS update, there's also a new firmware version available for AirPods Pro 2 users. The latest firmware version is 58377, which promises to address some bugs and improve overall performance. Some users have reported experiencing static issues with their AirPods Pro 2 and microphone problems, and it's possible that this update will resolve these issues.

**Performance Expectations**

When it comes to performance, there are no major changes to be expected with iOS 16.0.2. Apple typically doesn't make significant performance enhancements in incremental updates like this one. However, some minor visual improvements and bug fixes may enhance the overall user experience.

For example, users who have experienced issues with the dynamic Island on their iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max series may see these problems addressed in the latest update. Additionally, some small UI bugs that can cover up features like the app Library may be fixed, although this is purely speculative at this point.

**Battery Life Improvements**

Finally, there's a potential minor improvement to battery life with iOS 16.0.2. Some of the bugs that have been patched in this update could have put wear on your device's battery over time. Therefore, it's possible that users may notice a slight bump in battery life, especially if they're using their iPhone 14 or 14 Pro series.

However, it's essential to note that this is purely speculative, and Apple typically doesn't make significant changes to battery life with incremental updates. Instead, more substantial improvements are often introduced in later releases like iOS 16.1.

**Should You Update to iOS 16.0.2?**

In conclusion, the latest update for iPhone 14 users is a must-install update that addresses several bugs and improves the overall user experience. If you're using any other device on iOS 16, it's also strongly recommended that you update as soon as possible.

The fix for voice over and security enhancements make this a double-point update that should hold you over until the next major release in October. With the beta testing of iOS 16.1 already underway, users can look forward to more significant changes and improvements with the upcoming update.

**What's Next?**

Next month will see the release of iOS 16.1, which promises to address some of the issues that have plagued iPhone 14 users since its launch. Additionally, iPad OS 16.1 and Mac OS 13 Ventura are expected to follow suit, along with a new firmware update for AirPods Pro 2 users.

It's worth noting that Apple typically doesn't release double-point updates between now and the next major release unless there's a significant bug or security vulnerability discovered. Therefore, it's likely that we won't see another update before iOS 16.1 in October.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enApple just released iOS 16.0.2 to the general public to fix up some major bugs that were affecting the new iPhone 14 series as well as every other device running iOS 16. so we can see here the size of this update came in just over 350 megabytes for me on my iPhone 14 pro that size will vary depending on the version you're coming from and as far as the build number for this new version if we go to our settings General about 16.0.2 we can see that the build number is 208380 and if we scroll down a little bit to the modem firmware you can see that is 1.00.05 alright so now what's new here in iOS 16.0.2 and the first thing is a fix for the massive iPhone 14 pro bug that made headlines everywhere over the weekend and earlier this week so Apple says that it fixes an issue where the camera May vibrate and cause blurry photos when shooting with some third-party apps on iPhone 14 pro and 14 pro Max and my experience with this issue happened on launch day so the day that I got my iPhone 14 pro the very first time I went into Snapchat I had a really bizarre like shaking vibration on my camera I did not know what was going on it was sitting down on my desk and I made a really weird noise and I thought something was wrong with my phone I think everybody thought there was a defect with the iPhone 14 pro series but Apple quickly came out and said that this is a bug and it will be fixed in a software updates and here we go we now have a fix for that so all of the panic can subside because this is a software fix not a hardware fix now the next thing that's changed is a fix for perhaps the most annoying bug in all of iOS 16 and that is the copy and paste bug so Apple says copy and paste between apps may cause a permission prompt to appear more than expected you think it happened every single time so I'll show you guys an example if you don't know what I'm talking about on iOS 16 so I'm just going to copy some text right here and go into my notes app and try to paste it and this is the prompt that I get every single time so I'm going to tap on allow paste and now I'm going to go back to the exact same app copy the exact same thing and then go right back to my notes and watch this I paste again and it shows that prompt again every single time and that was very tiring and very annoying in iOS 16 so thankfully that has been fixed and just for confirmation that it's been fixed if we copy right here go into our notes and then paste you can see we get no prompt to allow the paste or not this update also addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone 10 iPhone 10r and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced so if you maybe had your screen replaced or other parts on your iPhone 10 10r or 11 replaced or just serviced at the Apple Store or a third party store you may have noticed that touch input was unresponsive in other words you could not actually use your touch screen display so that appears to have been a soft software bug and that has been addressed with this update as well now the next fix is an important one and that's because it actually happened to me when I was trying to set up this specific iPhone 14. so Apple says that the display may appear completely black during device setup and that happened to me on this iPhone 14 during the setup it just went black and I eventually had to force restart it to go back to the setup screen so I thought something was wrong with my iPhone 14 but turns out that was just a bug on iOS 16. we also get a fix for voice over so if you used voice over and iOS 16 I got comments about this you may have noticed that it was unavailable after rebooting so I got multiple comments on this on my big iOS 16 what's new video but for some users when you would reboot your device you would not be able to use voiceover whatsoever it would just be completely unavailable but thankfully with this update that has been addressed and you should be able to use voiceover properly now Apple did also say that there are some security benefits with 16.0.2 as well they said that this update includes important security updates however when I look at the security updates page I do not see any published cve entries on the security page so I'm not entirely sure what has been addressed but Apple did say that there are also security updates with this 16.0.2 update and then if you're getting the airpods Pro 2 soon or if you already have them a new firmware update was also pushed out for these guys today as well so if you go into your settings and take a look at the build number or the version number you can see the new version number is 58377 so mine have already been updated now there are no release notes but this could be adding support for lossless audio we're not too sure on that but it will most definitely be fixing some bugs I did have some static issues with my airpods Pro 2 and some microphone issues so we could see those addressed with this new version now as far as performance goes I would not expect any major changes to Performance here just maybe some visual improvements as far as bugs go like you may see some fixes for things like in the app Library I know that would sometimes cover up the dynamic Island for the Pro Series the 14 pro series so small UI bugs like that may be fixed but I would not expect any major raw performance gains with this update and then as far as the battery life goes I would actually expect a minor Improvement to the battery life with 16.0.2 given the fact that a few of the bugs that have been patched in this update could have put some wear on your battery so I would expect a minor bump here in battery life most likely with the 14 series especially the 14 pro series but don't expect any major improvements to battery life until later releases like 16.1 through 16.4 it's going to take a little while before the battery life is as good as it was on The Late versions of iOS 15. that's always how it is with these big software releases so now let's answer the question should you update to iOS 16.0.2 and if you have an iPhone 14 or 14 pro this is a no-brainer update you need to update as soon as possible to avoid those massive bugs that have really plagued this device ever since it was released and then if you're on any other iPhone like the 13 series 12 series or any other phone on iOS 16 I would also strongly recommend updating so they copy and paste bug the voiceover issues and the security enhancements all make for a solid double Point update 8.0.2 so this is going to hold you over until the big iOS 16.1 update that comes out next month and then finally let's talk about next month so next month is when we will be seeing iOS 16.1 so not too sure exactly when but we should see that sometime in mid to late October we are currently beta testing 16.1 and I have been making videos on 16.1 beta showing off the new features but along with iOS 16.1 we should also expect iPad OS 16.1 the first official release of iPad OS next month along with Mac OS 13 Ventura and then I would not expect another double Point update in between now and 16.1 unless there is a major bug or a major security vulnerability that gets discovered and Apple has to push out like an emergency update but besides that you know unless that happens I would not expect another update until 16.1 next month so there you have it that is IOS 16.0.2 a must install update if you're on the iPhone 14 Series in a strongly recommended update if you're on any other device on iOS 16. if you enjoyed this video I would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also make sure to subscribe for more iOS 16 and iPhone 14 coverage but anyways guys thanks again for watching and I'll see you soon foreignApple
