2023 Ford Maverick order books already closed!

The Ford Maverick is without a doubt a hit for Ford, so much so that it was hard to get your hands on a 2022 model if you wanted one recently. However, Ford was ready to start firing out orders for the 2023 Maverick and if you didn't jump in and get one this time, you probably won't be out of luck again.

Ford opened up the order books for the 2023 Maverick this past Thursday and now word is that the automaker is essentially sold out for that run. The order books for hybrids are likely already closed and the order book for the EcoBoost version is about to close. It's wild to see just how popular this little pickup really is, but I understand it - it's a great machine with two solid powertrain choices.

It's offered at an amazing price, especially compared to the current average transaction price people are paying for a new car right now. That figure sits at just over $48,000, which is wild. However, the Maverick starts around $22,000 to begin with, and you can certainly spec the truck out at a much higher cost if you check every option box. But you really don't need to do that.

The Sweet Spot is an XLT with the EcoBoost all-wheel drive and FX4 package. Select that one, and you're just over $28,000 if you're just running around town. Get the front wheel drive hybrid version, and you'll be under $24,000, which is amazing. Even more amazing if you want a budget baby's first overlanding rig - the team at Go Fast Campers is offering a package for the Maverick.

You could get into the truck with the Go Fast Camping platform and be out the door for under $30,000, which is a wild deal right now. And buyers have taken notice, which is why dealers can't keep these things on the lot. In fact, a typical Maverick order is one placed with the dealer not a truck simply bought off the lot. Some dealers can buy a little bit of stock for walk-ins, but they don't need to do that since they're pretty much selling every single one they can right now.

If the world weren't still racked with chip shortage issues causing production delays across so many industries, perhaps Ford would be selling even more of these trucks. That's wild to think about it. It's already a sales hit, but it could be even more of one. So far this year, the Maverick is over 45,000 units sold.

And more people continue to raise their hands to buy one. This is pretty clear since the order books for the 2023 model gear have been open for just six days. Did you buy one? Have you considered buying one? I'd love to hear what you think about the whole deal in the comments below.
