There's a New Ford Mustang Coming and It's Going to Be a Party!
Ford is getting ready to introduce its latest creation, the seventh generation of the iconic Pony car, and it's going to happen on September 14th. The event will be held in Detroit, with Ford calling it the "Stampede." What makes this event so special? Well, Ford is inviting Mustang owners to attend, which means it's going to be a pretty fun party for the enthusiasts. With the seventh generation of the Mustang making its public debut, there's plenty of speculation about what to expect.
Speculation Galore
Ford is keeping mum on the exact changes and upgrades that will come with this new Mustang. However, based on previous rumors and speculations, it's likely that you'll still be able to get a V8 engine under the hood. The Coyote 5-liter engine is probably going to make an appearance, paired either with a 10-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual stick shift. Yes, the stick will stick around for another generation! Some people are speculating that this could be the last new Mustang with gas-burning engines under the hood, so Ford might be introducing a Performance Hybrid version of the car to address this concern.
Hybrid and Electric Options
Ford might have softened the potential blow felt by Mustang purists by adding electrification to the mix. After all, Chevrolet is going to do something similar with the Corvette by introducing a performance hybrid version. Why can't Ford do the same with their beloved Pony car? Introducing an electric or hybrid Mustang would definitely be a game-changer for the brand. However, there's no word yet on whether this will happen. The Mustang Mach-e, which is an all-electric vehicle, might not be enough to satisfy everyone's expectations.
Iconic Visual Cues and Performance
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the new Mustang's features, it's likely that the car will retain a lot of its iconic visual cues. Sequential turn signals are probably going to stay put, as well as vertical slat tail lights. We can expect a familiar lineup from base to GT cars, up to insane Shelby variants. The interior should get an upgrade as well, and Ford loves its new Big and Tall infotainment screen, so that's definitely happening. There's also some word on the street that Ford might be developing a GT3-based performance version of the Mustang. This remains purely in the rumor department for now.
Mustang GT3 Race Car and a Road-Ready Version?
A Mustang GT3 race car is already arriving in 2024, which would be pretty awesome if a road-ready version was also developed! However, this one's still a bit iffy, but worth talking about. Most of our questions will be answered when the S650 seventh-gen Mustang makes its public debut on September 14th. When we know more, we'll talk all about it here.
