**Installing HBoot and Flashing Clockwork Mod Recovery**

To begin the process, simply click on the "Install" button to download the modified USB driver. The file should then appear in the folder you're currently in, with instructions on how to proceed. Double-click on the driver file to open it and follow the prompts to install the driver.

After installation, turn off your Evo phone completely, then hold down both the volume down and power buttons simultaneously until the H boot screen appears. This process is crucial for accessing the bootloader of your phone. Once you've reached this screen, let go of the buttons and navigate to "H Boot USB" using the volume down button.

To continue, plug your phone into your computer via a USB cable. Use your computer's device manager (Windows) or equivalent (Mac) to update the driver for the Android 1.0 with an exclamation point on it. To do this, open Device Manager, right-click on the "Android 1.0" and select "Update Driver Software." Then, browse for the driver file that you downloaded earlier and follow the prompts to install.

After installation, unplug your phone and turn off the battery by removing it and then putting it back in. Turn on your phone by holding down both the power button and volume up simultaneously until the normal home screen appears. Find the "Reflash" program that you extracted earlier, right-click on it, and select "Run as Administrator." This will open the Unrevoked program and initiate the flashing process.

To proceed with flashing Clockwork Mod Recovery, make sure USB debugging is enabled in your phone's settings menu by going to Applications > Development. Once this is done, plug your phone into a computer using an unrevoked-compatible cable and turn on your phone. Keep in mind that it may take a few moments for the device to recognize the connection.

To start the flashing process, close any unnecessary programs on your computer, including Unrevoked. Reopen the program, and you should see the "Waiting for Device" prompt appear on your screen. Wait patiently until this prompt disappears, indicating that the phone has recognized the connection and is ready to proceed with the flashing process.

Once connected, navigate through the menus provided by the Unrevoked program using the volume up and down buttons. Scroll down to "Nandroid" and select "Power" to begin backing up your system information. If successful, you should now be able to boot into Recovery mode. Use the volume down button to navigate to the "Reboot System" option and select it.

**Verifying Root Access**

After rebooting into normal mode, open the Application Drawer by navigating through the menus using the volume buttons. You will see an application called "Super User Permission" with a ninja icon. This indicates that you have gained root access to your device.

You can verify this access by opening a terminal app (such as Terminal Emulator) and typing the command "su". If successful, you should receive permission to execute system commands as a superuser.

extract all extract once we do that we're going to turn off the Evo once it's completely off we're going to hold down volume down and power and we're going to keep holding it so we get to the H boot screen it's going to try to load something let it try to do that and there you go okay and then we're going to connect the phone via USB to our computer then we're going to scroll down with the volume down button to hbot USB push power to select it should say h boot USB here okay now we're going to open the device manager we're going to click Start go to computer right click it hit properties then we're going to click over the top left we're going to hit device manager okay now under other devices you're going to see and Android 1.0 with a little exclamation point on it we're going to right click and hit update driver software we're going to select browse my computer for driver software and then we're going to go browse and we're going to look for the uh drivers we just downloaded so they're in the Android USB that we extracted we going to click Android USB driver click okay make sure include subh holders is checked and we're going to click next it's going to say windows can't verify it that's fine hit install this driver software anyway and wait for it to install the software should say Android Bootloader interface successfully installed we're going Tock close and we can go to the next step okay once the boot loader modified driver is installed we're going to unplug the phone we're going to turn it off by taking out the battery and then putting it back in I'm going to turn turn on by holding power and wait for it to get back to the normal home screen okay now we're going to find the reflash program itself uh where we extracted all the self extractor right click it run as administrator just to be safe and it should open up the unrevoked program and say waiting for device okay then on our phone we're going to hit menu settings go to Applications development we're going to make sure the USB debugging is checked checked on and then we can hit home and now we're going to plug the phone in via USB cable with unrevoked running on the computer charge only done and set the phone down once it recognizes the phone uh it should say booting into bootloader Etc uh we're going to wait for the phone to boot into boot loader and then we can continue if unrevoked still says waiting for device when you uh plug in your phone just close unrevoked and then reopen it okay once the phone boots into H boot we're going to push volume down a few times to get to H boot USB then push power to select it should say h boot USB up the top here when it happens unvoke should start doing some more things okay once it does that it should say booting into uh recovery then it'll say waiting 5 Seconds cuz 5 Seconds cuz Windows sucks and then done once it's done you should have your Clockwork recovery mod open on your phone okay we're going to scroll to nandroid and hit power do a backup and uh see if it can back up the system information okay once it says backup complete we're going to use the volume buttons and scroll down to go back and then do that again or no sorry go up to the top and hit Reboot system now and it should reboot back into the normal mode okay once the phone reboots in normal mode you should be able to open the application drawer scroll down you'll
