Field Trip to the Salvage Yard _ Office Goals _ Mr Kate _ Episode 3

The Table Making Process

Is your tabletop shut up? No, that's it, yes, it is. That was so fast I sent you this sketch last night. He puts a whip on us and uh we get it done. These will be your table legs, are they already put together? No, no, we just cut them to size right now. Hey guys, how you doing? Hey Jeff, Jeff is the other owner of Silverado Salvage and design, who scour the globe for all of this cool stuff. Jeff and Dennis, you guys own this together, right? You guys are Partners, right? It's old growth Redwood, every line in this wood is a year. So, this is the same wood that we're talking about putting on the wall.

Hey by the way, great drawings. You should see the chicken scratch we get from most clients. One of us is going to be sitting here and then the other of us is going to be sitting here, so this is our work leg area while we're sitting here, so we want as much space as possible. The fact that we're even making this table with you is probably not pretty typical of like a salvage company. We have a huge inventory of wood, design expertise, great carpenters, and then I know we had talked about putting glass on this. Yes, Dennis is going to figure out what the nest and Edge looks, and then we're immediately calling our glass company.

The Status of the Wall

Look how pretty this is. This is going to be on the wall obviously. This wood is amazing, but we are renting our office space presumably we're not going to be there forever. It's built on plywood and then the whole thing can be removable. What you don't want is one seam going all the way down the center, it comes in 4X8 pieces your wall is 12 by 12, so it's three sections, so it's like a game of Tetris. I don't want to wood glue them up onto the wall when we're trying to take them off; they just break in half and splinter.

Sorry I wasn't really paying attention but um this is called a saw stop, it's got an electric current running through the blade so if you touch it, it activates a brake in it and sucks the blade down all right. I'm ready we have a split yeah well this has been amazing I'm so excited yeah.

Dennis' Sense of Humor

You decide to give up interior decoration there's a future for you in carpentry. Thanks Jeff, you have a dog, I have a dog yes, I want see your dog. My little boy what his name Furby Furby, he's named after the gremlin that you feed after midnight. He's so cute; he tried neutering my daughter's boyfriend one time so oh did he deserve it, oh any boy that dates my daughter deserves it.

Weird Finds at Silverado Salvage

Nothing Rivals jennis but this is pretty weird isn't it? We call him silver Auto cell and he appears in some of our advertising. He was the front of a coffee shop in Midtown Manhattan. I have this dream of our office being sort of like the apartment in big you know with like the all the fun toys and stuff yeah that had like one bunk bed and like no functionality, enjoy your new office it'll be so cool.

The Installation Process

Dennis and Co are installing this beautiful salvage wood wall and bringing the table oh my God it looks so good. Den who wrote I love Dennis Tony I love this too whatever we're wishing for the business put it there and then we'll cover it up what should I write? "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to office goals the series where we take you behind the scenes and along for the ride of the making of Mr Kate Studios previously on office goals we gave you a tour wham bam bam and you saw Sophia Helm the Swedish building experience a look at Kelly and Daisy working they're so cute ooh ice cream and then we installed some desk and cabinets in the couscous room which brings us to right now because Joey and I don't have a cute or functional partner desk at which to plot our world litter defecation wait what here we go Silverado Salvage in design should I do a Nude Matte lip yes Brad where are we going guys and and why we're going to Silverado design and vintage we're going to Silverado Salvage and design can someone let me over please we haven't move the team into the office yet because we're trying to get all the big projects installed first so today we're hitting the road to find the perfect salvage wood wall table for the Bice and maybe some doors to connect to the couscous room Maybe not maybe yes I don't know you want to not do the doors completely now I don't want to like be Hasty with it cuz it's going to take up more than half of that wall we haven't actually had everyone sit at their desks like I want to make sure like Brad and T are comfortable I think we don't do the doors right now we move in we do the wall cuz we can always put the doors in so our goal today is salvage wood for the wall but I want to figure out a way to install the wood because this is a rental like I don't want to like glue it to the wall we need to do a partner desk wide enough for both of us to sit at I don't think we should do the doors until we're confident we want the doors cuz that's like a big project that is going to be harder to undo than to do the other day I was driving behind an ambulance they turned the corner really quick and the freaking back door opened no and a little like cooler fell out what yeah I opened the cooler and there was a freaking toe in the cooler ew yeah and then what' you do I call it a tow truck oh my God so this didn't happen no oh hey fancy seeing you here what okay Joey and I were here this past weekend it's the cool store it's amazing the reason why we're back is because we want to check on some of the stuff that we picked out specifically this amazing old wood that we want to put on the wall in the bait I also want to make a table so I want to check in with them about that also you guys are just going to love the store isn't cute this is cavernas cavernas and he is that an ouse or a guillotine I think it's like a no it's a stock where you get publicly humiliated for your crime and the Lord Pulpit let there be okay okay okay Salvage this is like flea market on fleek Fleek Market Fleek Market Brad that's such a good idea that would be awesome we should do a Fleek Market every Thursday on Washington yes this is the wood we're using I'm wrong this actually isn't the wood this is the same barn but this is okay no it was a 100 year old Nursery like a nursery where they sell plants not babies well I was like ghost orphanage and it was built in the 1920s so that was like 100 years ago basically look at this wood like I don't know this was from like a fuzzy place this belong to a woolly mammoth how gorgeous is this see how thin this is this is what they're going to do to the wood that we're going to use this wood was from a barn in Pennsylvania and there's just so many stories there's so much history here these were originally windows in the nursery in the nurser that we were thinking about putting up as the doors but they're sort of becoming a a logistical Nightmare and B we're not convinced that we want the door we're going to hold on it but these will be what they are if we put them in the issue is that these weren't originally made as doors so there has to be some like reinforcement happening we have to build a jam for them but here's the wood that we're putting on the wall no where is the alleged wood nope that's the wood over there than so we're going to strip this into basically half the SI which I think they're already doing that in the back I just love how whitewashed it is but it'll really work with like the concrete that we have going on and like the stucco that's going on on the other wall now let's head to the back where the nitty gritty magic happens and where Dennis one of the owners of Silverado Salvage is working on our project Dennis Dennis oh my gosh wait is this the wall no this is your tabletop shut up no that's it yes it is that was so fast I sent you this sketch last night he puts a whip on us and uh we get it done these will be your table legs are they already put together no no we just cut them to size right now hey guys how you doing hey Jeff Jeff is the other owner of Silverado Salvage and design who scour the globe for all of this cool stuff Jeff and Dennis you guys own this together right you guys are no photographer excuse me is that a finished B is I smell oh my God oh my God I'm going to cry Dennis you've out Dennis yourself oh my God it looks amazing Joey we're going to do so many important things yeah if our business ever fails we could just open a cool coffee bar right here Joey knock on wood well there's plenty of it oh my gosh those legs I'm marking it all right now pee on it my
