The Life of a Power User: A Day with Marcus and Dennis
As I sat down to review the Samsung S20 series, I couldn't help but think about my own relationship with my phone. Like many of you, I've gotten used to having a constant companion that's always within arm's reach. Whether it's for work emails or social media updates, our phones have become an integral part of our daily lives. But how do they hold up when put through their paces? In this article, I'll be sharing my experience with the S20 series and what it's like to be a power user.
For those who don't know, Marcus and I are self-proclaimed power users. We spend hours on our phones every day, pushing them to their limits and testing their capabilities. And let me tell you, these phones can handle anything we throw at them. With 120Hz displays and powerful processors, the S20 series is a beast of a phone that's designed for heavy use.
One of the things I love about my phone is how seamless it is. Whether I'm navigating through menus or playing games, the experience is smooth and responsive. And with features like Waze and Google Maps, I can stay on top of my daily commute without having to worry about my phone slowing down. Of course, this means that my battery life takes a hit – but for a power user like me, that's just part of the deal.
But what really sets these phones apart is their camera capabilities. Marcus has shown me some amazing shots he's taken with his S20 Ultra, and I have to say, they're stunning. With features like live focus and edge detection, the camera is capable of producing some truly remarkable photos. And while I haven't had as much time with the regular S20, I've been impressed by its capabilities too.
One area where the S20 Ultra really shines is in low-light photography. The camera's ability to capture even the smallest details in a scene is incredible, and it's something that's often overlooked in smartphones. But for those of us who love taking photos, this feature is a game-changer. And with the S20 series' advanced autofocus system, I've found that my photos are always sharp and in focus.
Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning the little things. Like how the phone's design feels when you hold it – or whether the display is bright enough to see during the day. But for me, these are just minor complaints. The S20 series has won me over with its sheer power and capability.
One thing that I do wish was better was the autofocus on my phone. In some cases, it can be a bit slow to focus – but for the most part, it's reliable. And when it comes to taking photos, the results are always worth it. Whether you're taking pictures of friends, family, or even exotic animals (like this Tesla Roadster diecast car), the camera on these phones is capable of producing truly stunning shots.
But what really sets these phones apart is their ability to stay connected with each other. With features like Bluetooth streaming and wireless charging, I can seamlessly switch between my phone and other devices without having to worry about cables or adapters getting in the way. And let me tell you – it's a game-changer for power users like us.
As I wrap up this review, I have to say that I'm impressed with what these phones can do. From navigation to gaming to photography, they're capable of handling just about anything we throw at them. And while there are some minor complaints here and there, the S20 series is definitely a contender in the world of high-end smartphones.
In conclusion, if you're like me – or even just a casual user who loves having a good phone – then the Samsung S20 series is definitely worth checking out. Whether you're looking for power, capability, or just a great camera, these phones have got it all. And with features like live focus and edge detection, you'll be taking some of the best photos of your life in no time.
But that's not all – Marcus has actually done an amazing review on his S20 Ultra, which I've linked down below for you to check out. He shows off some truly stunning shots and puts the phone through its paces in a way that'll make you want to upgrade your own smartphone. So what are you waiting for? Check it out and let me know what you think!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis going on guys drivers consumer and today we're gonna be spending a real day in the life with the Samsung Galaxy S 20 now a lot of you are probably a bit more interested in the s 20 and the S 20 plus versus the ultra because the price difference is so huge so today we're gonna spend the day with it and you guys gonna see everything there is to know about how to use this phone and how it performs but today we're gonna be doing things a little bit differently you might notice this car over here that belongs to my boy marques mkbhd today we're gonna be spending a day not only with me but with him as well so you guys are gonna be able to see how he uses the s20 for a day and be able to see how two different users kind of handle the phone throughout the day so for those of you who have been interested in seeing marques do a vlog or something this is probably as close as you'll get so let's go meet up with him what's going on man alright guys so we got our boy marques over here we're gonna be spending the day with him he's got his s20 and I've got mine so let's see how it goes throughout today so of course once we got in the studio we immediately started talking about the s20 alright so marques you have the cosmic cosmic yet cosmic blue I've got cosmic grey but it's got like this shimmery like if you put it in the light at the right angle I don't know if you can pick it up but it's got like some rainbow type of looks sometimes so liking that prism effect yeah they're into that I mean it's not as crazy as the note 10 from last year the aura glow but it looks good though it looks pretty solid you don't get that on the grey version though there's pretty solid it's clean how's it feel to actually hold it in the hand okay so like you I just came from this 20 ultra which is gigantic yes so this feels like a compact phone to me and I know it's not actually a compact phone but it's that's the first thing I notice is it's smaller and then from there it's just familiar Samsung like I'm not shocked by any of it so it's pretty easy I you know it's weird cuz I feel like this is the perfect size yeah it's not the size I'll ever use I never opted for the smaller phones but it does feel perfect in the hand and what nice is like if you're someone who rocks a case you throw it on here unlike the ultra this doesn't make it a gigantic phone at all like the ultra with the case you try to put that sucker in your pocket much it's too much you happy to see me it's just not it's not a good look but this one case or not it feels really good in the hand yeah first of all I've had like random issues where my camera app let's see if I can be able to do it it'll like just crash if I open it from the lockscreen yeah from the lockscreen maybe it'll stop maybe if I restart the phone I'll stop but I took some 30x photos earlier today 30 yeah 30 X so this is this is a full on 30x and I was trying to figure out like obviously the 30x is better on these phones than most phones here so i took the thirty and then I got the s20 ultra I took the hundred we're trying to figure out is this is this is this creepy is this like identifiable you know I do feel like you intruded a little bit on my moment with the cars 30 is pretty the professor solid like that looks good yeah now it's crazy that's when I was recording my intro for this video Hawkeye over here coming yeah just doing a camera demo you know it's not even a real applicable how you do it but yeah I know I've had random crashes I don't know why hopefully are you are you seeing anything with autofocus being an issue still it's been fine for me I've had like really really early I took it out the box and I started messing with it and I was like oh is it just as bad but it's been fine okay I've been happy whatever you Minds been a little shoddy here more so when I'm trying to take a photo it just wouldn't focus on the subject you know how we have like closed focus yeah yeah it seems to still not be amazing at close focus and I've had Nick's experiences with a lot of phones that close focus mm-hmm but like with the ultra I would go up to something like as far away as like you and me right now not even like really close and it would still be back focusing which is like that weird so I haven't had that problem with this phone all right all right that's tough though oh that's me gonna go downstairs see the yeah man I spot you see the spot for the first time warning it's probably pretty loud in that like annex area because of all the construction but once we get in there you'll see all the s20 is different from the plus and the ultra they'll honestly be the same overall experience is just a matter of bigger versions being incrementally better at certain things yeah have you closed the door behind us it's already like kind of impressively quieter oh wow we have a pool table it's red and black shocker this is a new one yeah this is we just got a lot bigger yeah it's like a full size regulation leveled competition table are you serious pretty Suites red and black but like yeah it's gonna look great and actually work this is a good ultra-wide test too because you can see like twice as much stuff when you switch from like the 1x all the way wide like that oh yeah and there's really not much distortion like all the way over here straight lines yeah the colors exporters are solid and have you used a plus yet I have one but I've been dallying that's regular so this 20 yeah cuz I hear the depth sensor on the other depth lines on the Ultra is and I don't think it does much if it were to do anything that would be for like a our stuff and portrait modes Samsung is pretty big on the AR stuff with like the doodles and yeah whatnot not that anybody exists is that all not buying a phone I'm not spending a hundred extra bucks on the bigger phone to get the doodles just right yeah yeah so if you are that guy get the plus but yeah do you think there's any besides that do you think there's any advantage for the plus over the regular besides battery life right I mean the screen yeah yeah bigger screen you're already getting a pretty big screen I know we said it's compact but that's a big screen I think the battery is the bigger gain on that alone 4500 milliamp hours versus 4000 that's a pretty big jump I feel like the 500 extra 500 won't translate that much you might get an extra half hour on the screen on time what you plus you know would help if you're in 60 Hertz mode oh well of course but is it really hurt yeah I don't want to do it but like let's say you need a full day like you're about to go on a road trip you'd forgot your car charger you're not gonna charge so you get the hotel 60 Hertz we'll get you like 30% more you can do all these battery saving things and turn things off if you want but honestly I think we both agree 120 is just the way to go if you're spending this much money you should interpret exactly yes so I'm not gonna lie guys unless you're looking for something particular like more battery life a bigger screen or a few more capabilities from the camera the s20 is a really safe bet if you're looking to save some money and not spend well over $1,000 this is cool they just put this furniture here that's kind of nice actually maybe we should get some of these these will be good for sound too you won't try to ask lots of permission oh my god you got an update Bixby we had one shot makes we finally updated and I ran it through there again it thinks it's a a hat actually it didn't really read I mean all that had to deal with was that that logo okay so it didn't really pick up anything I gave Bixby a shot every year yeah see America's new spot was definitely cool but it was time to get to work and start some shooting this Obama test is going ahead and getting his Bureau we shot a little bit of something here it looks pretty dang good I'm not gonna lie it is pretty sharp though but I don't think the average person is gonna look at this and say aw man this video is too short not crazy about it so video wise we're seeing a lot of those Samsung qualities where things come up pretty sharp but the overall image is solid let's give you guys a battery update so it is currently 12:10 and we've got 71% let's actually check with Marquez once he finishes with this scene so what are you looking at in terms of battery life right now right now I'm pretty low cuz I got super heavy yesterday 46% oh okay so I'm giving it a full like not caring what happens day open not charging at all so you don't charge your phone at night sometimes I don't so if I if I get to like for the end of the day and I plugged in on the way home from work and I might like 90% I'll like not charge at night I'll start the next day like 70% of something and then just see how it goes yes some phones changed my charging habits if I have a phone with fast charging I feel like I charge less and then I'll just like juice up real quick sometimes it's interesting to see how different people you know charge their phones me I'm not I needed overnight yeah I never sent in the beginning of the day yeah what's your screen on time 71 class 334 yeah 334 yeah that's not bad though okay really you can't even get a wide you have to be like out there and this is the telephoto right so yeah like no lens options at all yeah if you seems like regular 4k or steady and you have to be I'm assuming that's what we're doing 4k yeah yeah 4k is 4k 30 go 30 already Oh always dying breathe here damn I can't believe it's a dying breed but it's the real ones man now I'm really curious about what everyone else is charging habits are like Marquez is definitely surprised me but let me know how you guys handle your battery with a comment down below but as you guys saw here video is definitely solid on the s20 it's not going to beat the latest iPhones in terms of quality but you do have access to a que not that you'll ever use it honestly but you'll also get super steady video which honestly has been one of Samsung's best video features for a while there's definitely some solid quality on the video side of things know if for some reason I'm having trouble with the face unlock Markos how do you use face unlock your phone no it's just a fingerprint all the way yeah it's just a it just be optical district there's no not no real security behind there yeah the convenience of face unlocking is nice but when it's hit or miss like this kind of defeats the purpose but after working for a bit we have to take a quick lunch break and this is where I always appreciate how great Samsung screens look watching content is enjoyable even on the normal 20 because it's still a 6.2 inch display which is plenty large but you almost take it for granted thanks to the compact form factor and honestly that's like the best of both worlds you get a nice big screen that can easily fit in your pocket and in your hand so I'm what do you see yourself as like a power user normal user I mean how are you sir I like I use my phone a lot on a heavy day I'll have like six seven hours green on time if I have to church right that's a lot so let you spend like a lot of that time doing like right you just like emails so there's a lot of social media there's a lot of email and there's a lot of navigation and maps on heavy days like Waze and Google Maps and stuff like that mm-hmm that takes a lot better because that's screen on the whole time she pads GPS that's like come in the car it's like bluetooth streaming to the car off so it's just a lot happening so the radios are all lit up and I feel like you get a pretty good idea of how well you can really drain it but I don't gain much that's like maybe the biggest asset one is power user thing I don't use it for anything that's really power consuming yeah outside of like gaming heavily I got well I don't do emails or anything like that because I hate typing on phone on smart yeah mostly just like managing it exactly star or I'll get back to it later but yeah there's a whole bunch of bother you in the games there's no controls over there no I wouldn't say so even a game like this injustice not all the games kind of carry over to the punks they kind of stop right under it that's nice oh it's fine you know doesn't really bother me it's playing a really bright ice playing asphalt which is like a really bright cool game call it over you still kind of notice in the corner of the eye is like the hole punch yeah looking at it cuz we're looking at where you're going right little bit you still want to see yeah now Marcus and I are definitely power users meaning we stay on our phones quite a bit more than the average person and really push it in different ways but it's pretty safe to say the phone can handle whatever we throw at it and without 120 Hertz display that we keep drooling over it makes the experience even smoother whether that's normal navigation through the phone or even in gaming so something we haven't done yet is actually used the camera bit for just regular photos so marques has interesting stuff all over the place like these Tesla Roadster diecast cars so this is like the perfect subject not to mention the man has a flamethrower over there we can make use of that too now the cameras are a bit different on the regular s20 compared to the s20 ultra but from what I found it doesn't mean you're gonna get a bad quality photo or anything you're still gonna get really good stuff look at this so this has like some crazy depth of field over here so you can clearly see like the car tyre and headlight is in focus and it rolls off as you continue so it's like a really shallow that's a field I believe this is like a 1/8 lens if those who don't know what that means you'll get a lot of that background and blur wouldn't try to take a photo of something so let's try and see if we can get some more shots of this guy now that was one of my biggest gripes with the ultra the autofocus was pretty bad for me let's see if the autofocus is any better on this guy Oh boom let's do the live focus shot those are my favorite boom the edge detection you know kind of fails a little bit over here but for the most part anybody looking at this photos was gonna see a really nice clean photo now let's see the shadows were an area with the s20 ultra that I felt like just looks a bit too dark contrast these shots are cool with me but for this one I feel like not that bad and overall it feels pretty contrasting just like that I mean ultra but I honestly don't have too many complaints about the way this came out ok so just going around the office taking pictures of a bunch of different cool things that I'm seeing actually look at this little what is this a Model S or yes a Model S right that's gonna be a dope tech video coming up pretty soon oh yeah Dewey Dewey could kill bacon you could show it alright guys so you saw it Marcos is my actually making a video on this so if you want to see that I'll be sure to update this video whenever he drops out put it in the description for you to check out before what I've seen this thing is nuts y'all dope Tech man alright guys so we spent the day with marques it's been pretty dope being able to see all the stuff that he's working on you guys are gonna have to check out his video we actually did a little collab on his review so I'll have that link down below in the description but I'm Anne thanks for having us out we got a double bump you know what it is you guys check it out and we'll catch you guys in the next one so Dennis your average consumer please I'm not gonna put this case back on safety firstthis going on guys drivers consumer and today we're gonna be spending a real day in the life with the Samsung Galaxy S 20 now a lot of you are probably a bit more interested in the s 20 and the S 20 plus versus the ultra because the price see like the car tyre and headlight is in focus and it rolls off as you continue so it's like a really shallow that's a field I believe this is like a 1/8 lens if those who don't know what that means you'll get a lot of that background and blur wouldn't try to take a photo of something so let's try and see if we can get some more shots of this guy now that was one of my biggest gripes with the ultra the autofocus was pretty bad for me let's see if the autofocus is any better on this guy Oh boom let's do the live focus shot those are my favorite boom the edge detection you know kind of fails a little bit over here but for the most part anybody looking at this photos was gonna see a really nice clean photo now let's see the shadows were an area with the s20 ultra that I felt like just looks a bit too dark contrast these shots are cool with me but for this one I feel like not that bad and overall it feels pretty contrasting just like that I mean ultra but I honestly don't have too many complaints about the way this came out ok so just going around the office taking pictures of a bunch of different cool things that I'm seeing actually look at this little what is this a Model S
