Creating Unique Accessories from Old Stockings and Beaded Necklaces
For those looking to get creative with old materials, a pair of panty hose and a beaded necklace can make for an interesting combination. The process begins by cutting one leg off the stockings, which will then be sliced into a series of little loops. These loops should be roughly an inch wide, but precision is not required. The remaining piece of the stocking will be cut lengthwise, folded in half, and then cut again in half lengthwise, with each cut happening once more. This will result in four strips, which can then be tied together to form a long, skinny strip for the necklace.
To complete the project, the little loops that were cut from the leg of the stocking will be placed along the middle section of the necklace. The back part of the necklace will be used as a tie, while the strips will be left untied. When tying the necklace on, the user can either leave the loops intact or snip them open for a slightly different look. This creates a unique and eye-catching accessory that can add a touch of whimsy to any outfit.
For those looking to try out this project but are unsure about where to start, consider taking an old beaded necklace and slipping it into a pair of cut-down stockings. The resulting piece will have a contrasting color scheme, which can add visual interest to the overall design. To complete the look, start at one end of the necklace and tie in between each bead, creating a pattern that showcases the unique combination of materials.

at her I was looking at me and I was just so unbelievably embarrassed and then I get to work and I look down and I see that my favorite stockings have a huge hole in it and I was hoping that there was something I could make with them cuz I don't want to throw them away I love them um is there anything you can do to help me so to help out we hooked up with Indie designer wabby saabi Brooklyn for some cool ideas my name is marann ly and my company is wobby Saab Brooklyn and I make um decupage jewelry I started because I'm I'm a teacher and that can be really stressful as you may have heard um so it was a stress release at first just sort of arts and crafts time I like to use materials that other people might not think of as jewelry supplies like old um magazines or cataloges today I'm going to show you you how to give New Life to your old stockings for these projects you're going to need some old panty hose PA sharp scissors and a beaded necklace first thing we're going to do is these actually happen to be a pair that um are footless but if they had feet on them you would just cut the feet off so we're just going to cut one of the legs off and then we are going to take this leg and slice it up into a series of little Loops you want the pieces to be roughly um an inch wide but you don't need to be precise seven is a lucky number so we're going to stop there the rest of the piece that you've got here you're going to cut lengthwise fold it in half and cut it in half lengthwise and then do that one more time cut those in half as well now you're going to take those four strips and just tie them together so that you've got one long skinny strip so there you go that's the length of your necklace now what you're going to do with the little Loops that you cut out before is you're going to place them along just the middle section of this necklace so this back part you're going to use to tie it on you're not going to tie any of the strips there and the way you put them on is you lay them on and you just pull them through and it's probably um going to look best if you try to do it somewhat evenly going to put one in the middle you can either leave it like this with the loops intacted or if you want to you can snip them open for a slightly different look and now you're done and for another quick project um if you've got a beaded necklace lying around that you are just tired of and some stockings that you're ready to play with um what you can do is take the necklace I started this one already I just cut the leg off of another pair of stockings and slipped the beaded necklace in there and I decided to use a contrasting color but it's really um your own decision what color you want to use to do the ties start at one end and just tie in between each bead um and I have a finished one right here that I made with a a slightly bigger beaded necklace this is the finished product um for more ideas my site wabisabi brooklyn.com and to see more of my work go to
